Dota 2 championship ends in a pulse-pounding, curse-breaking Cinderella story

The International 2018 may go down as the best yet.

The International 2018 has come and gone, and this year’s Dota 2 championship was spectacular. The $25 million tournament ended with a five-game grand finals series between the much-maligned European squad OG and storied Chinese team PSG. LGD. After going to all five games in the grueling series, OG just barely claimed victory and the top prize for the first time ever.

It was the conclusion to a bizarre, winding Cinderella story that began with OG’s formation in 2015. The squad came together that year under captain Johan “N0tail” Sundstein (aka BigDaddyN0tail). While N0tail was well-liked in the Dota community, he had yet to win a championship. Although that didn’t stop fans and analysts from predicting ultimate OG victory in 2016.

That’s because OG won two out of three Majors, the highest profile tournaments in pro Dota behind The International, before the big event. It went into that year’s championship looking like the team to beat. Which is why it was so surprising when the organization folded like a house of cards—taking the 9th-12th position at TI6. That’s a fancy way of saying OG didn’t win a single match-up on the main stage back then.

One could brush that off as a fluke. OG went on to win another two Majors, after all. It was enough to earn the team a second TI invite in 2017.

And once again OG completely choked. The squad won a single series before being knocked out of the tournament by LGD: the same brand they faced off against in this year’s grand finals, albeit with only two-fifths of last year’s players remaining on the Chinese squad. It was still a symbolic victory for the beleaguered OG.

Speaking of bleeding players, that’s exactly what OG did after its second fumble at The International. Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok dropped off the team in March. That left N0tail’s squad ineligible for an invite to TI8 or to its European qualifier tournament. The roster was essentially forced to qualify for the qualifiers.

And it did, no thanks to Gustav “s4” Magnusson and Tal “Fly” Aizik (who was a founding OG member). Those star players defected to rival team Evil Geniuses at the last possible second before one of this year’s Majors, forcing OG to withdraw while it scrambled to find warm bodies before The International.

The roster filled out with returning member Anathan “ana” Pham and Sébastien “Ceb” Debs. The latter player was semi-retired from active play. He was serving as OG’s coach and only stepped in to fill an empty seat. Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, an almost total unknown from Finland, rounded out the replacements.

The ragtag group quickly proved that the third time’s the charm, however. OG performed admirably in The International group stages and didn’t lose a single series on the main stage. Though a pattern emerged. N0tail and company would come recklessly close to defeat over and over again, only to come back and win take it all at the very last second.

It happened against Evil Geniuses, the team that carried two former OG members and ultimately took third at the tournament. It happened against LGD, the team that bodied the squad 2-0 the year before. It even happened during the incredible grand finals that were the polar opposite of the last International’s 3-0 shutout.

OG won its first match of the day just as handily as LGD won the next two. The Chinese team then spent the first 45 minutes of game four packing its European counterpart into the dirt. Team captain Xu “fy” Linsen was at the top of his game and it genuinely looked like the LGD couldn’t lose the match, much less the best-of-five series.

One incredibly surprising fight in LGD’s home base (plus stellar aggressive play from Ceb, ana, and OG fifth Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka) was all it took to completely turn things around. Something similar happened in game five, but much more quickly. OG appeared completely hosed for 20 minutes before finding its footing and closing things out without a hitch.

The three-year curse was lifted. The comeback kings were born.

Dota 2 fans typically look back on 2013’s TI3 as the most exciting championship in the game’s short history. One reason for that is because it was the first, and until this year only, time that the grand finals went to a full five games. That comparison alone puts year’s tournament in the running for the most heart-pounding finale to a Dota season yet. But the numbers alone wouldn’t have been half as entertaining without the story of comebacks, curses, and betrayals that paved the way.

Next year’s International will be held in China for the first time ever. That makes sense given the size and passion of the Chinese Dota 2 scene, which roared with dedication and assurance for LGD this year. That tournament will have a lot to live up to.

What’s a Twitch Overlay?

Twitch Overlays are graphics, animations or tools that are displayed in a stream over the actual content (game or video) during a live broadcast. These Overlays, also called Stream Overlays or Stream Templates, are usually graphics (.JPG,.PNG) or animations (.GIF,.WEBM) that are added via streaming software such as OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), Streamlabs OBS or XSplit. Our graphics can be used with streaming platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Mixer, Facebook, Huya or others.

How do I add a Twitch Stream Overlay (with OBS)?

A Twitch Stream Overlay can easily be added to your stream. No matter if you use OBS, Streamlabs OBS (SLOBs), StreamElements or other tools, our products can be used and added everywhere. In this tutorial, we will show you how: https://www. own3d. tv/obs-tutorial-for-twitch-youtube/

This means at an already low hourly price a few hundred Euros for custom work for complete stream designs.

How can I create a Twitch Overlay myself?

You haven’t found a matching product or don’t have enough money to buy one? Then you can try it yourself. There are many tutorials on YouTube that show you how to create a Twitch Overlay yourself. But please keep in mind: In our teamwork professional designers and illustrators. The effort for a complete stream design is often several days despite the professionalism and speed. Does own3d. tv also offer free Twitch Overlays?

Yes, even though we are specialized in premium products, most of the time there are some free Twitch Overlay Templates available for download here. Compared to the effort of creating a product, you can buy it at a reasonable and fair price in the shop. By purchasing one of our products, you are helping gamers to live their passion.

Is there a Twitch Overlay Maker or Generator?

No, unfortunately, we don’t currently offer a Twitch Overlay Maker or Generator. But if you are looking for an Avatar, have a look at our Avatar Maker!

Where can I find a “Stream Starting Soon Overlay”?

Stream Starting Soon Overlays or banners are available as a package in each of our Ultimate and Monster Packages. As single products, you can find them here.

Is it possible to stream without stream graphics?

Yes, you can stream without stream graphics, but a professional stream design can help to set your own stream apart from the many thousands of other streamers. Many professionals show how valuable the graphics, emotes and badges are for their community building. We don’t know anyone who has used professional design once and then ever wanted to stream without it again.

[OG] M4’s guide to All Random Deathmatch (updated for 6.84c)

[OG] M4’s guide to All Random Deathmatch (updated for 6.84c)

1. Introduction
2. Fine Print
3. Items
4. Heroes

Introduction

ARDM is fricking great. If you like being on your feet and want to play well with a variety of heroes, this is the mode for you.

The mode is like regular Dota, except that you spawn a new random hero when you die. New heroes retain levels, gold and items.

There are two victory conditions (push or get 45 kills), so the game’s overall strategy can be different from the normal game. Teamfights happen more often, and Dagon is popular. The game can reach a point where push becomes secondary to simply getting pick-offs.

Fine Print

  • You can swap heroes at the beginning of the game. You cannot repick. No hero spawns twice.
  • If you deny an ally or yourself, or go die to a neutral creep, the enemy doesn’t get the XP/Gold, but you still lose one of your 45 lives.
  • Players who cannot respawn anymore (when the team has run out of lives) can still buy and drop shareable items like Observer Ward s, Bottle , Perseverance , and Gem of True Sight for the surviving team.
  • If someone dies and abandons, you cannot sell their items.
  • If someone abandons and their hero is alive, you can sell their items.
  • If someone disconnects/abandons, you can use their hero, but if that hero dies, they don’t respawn until they reconnect.
  • Visage ‘s Familiars die when the main hero dies, but otherwise most non-hero units and wards such as Nature’s Prophet ‘s treants, Holy Persuasion creeps, Lycan ‘s wolves, Templar Assassin ‘s traps survive after death.
  • Legion Commander ‘s stolen damage does not stay after death, nor does Silencer ‘s stolen intelligence or Pudge ‘s fatty stacks.
  • Vengeful Spirit ‘s negative aura only stays until the Venge player respawns.
  • Alchemist ‘s Aghanim’s Scepter buff does not stay if Alchemist or the buff recipient dies.

Items

Items to counter

A list of items by popularity. This is so you know what to watch out for, and possibly pick:

  • Dagon – Probably the most popular item in this mode, although it’s very hit or miss, especially if rushed too early without enough survivability/damage items.
  • Blink Dagger – when their Lich or Brewmaster teamwipes you and buys a Dagger, he is impossible to catch till the end of the game. This is probably the first big item you should get.
  • Hand of Midas – A lot of people rush M >Linken’s Sphere / Lotus Orb – Btw, medallion of courage DOES NOT break Linken’s. If it’s late enough in the game that all fights are 5v5 and you don’t anticipate being Dagoned by surprise, Lotus Orb serves you better than Linken’s.
  • Shadow Blade / Glimmer Cape – very annoying, and at worst puts a money strain on the enemy to buy detection.

Items that are likely to make you win

  • Dagon
  • Blink Dagger
  • Orchid Malevolence
  • Radiance
  • Linken’s Sphere
  • Assault Cuirass
  • Shadow Blade
  • Helm of the Dominator
  • Drum of Endurance
  • Vladmir’s Offering
  • Tranquil Boots – very useful if you roam a lot (and you should)
  • Arcane Boots
  • Heart of Tarrasque
  • Crimson Guard
  • Blademail
  • Bloodstone

Items that are likely to make you lose

  • Mask of Madness – It’s okay if you bought it when you were Faceless Void , but you have to resist the urge to turn it on when you’re chasing someone as Zeus .
  • Aghanim’s Scepter – if farmed too early in a game that you are already losing
  • Dagon – if farmed too early in a game that you are already losing
  • Battle Fury – if farmed too early in a game that you are already losing

Troll Strategy

Many people rush Hand of Midas and Dagon with some form of boots, and if the game goes in their favour they get fat on stolen kills and win easy. It’s a risky strat but worth a try.

OG eSports Team: A Dota 2 Titan

Introduction And History

OG is an e-sports team originating from Europe. They do not have a specific HQ or do they list themselves as they are from a particular place/country, that is why they specifically label themselves as coming from Europe, even though not every member is a European citizen nor does every member live in Europe.

An older team, known as (monkey) Business broke up and OG was founded by the previous teams ex members. The previous eSports team (monkey) Business had its fair share of successful tournaments and event participation, but in its final days it started deteriorating in success and the ex members MoonMeander, Miracle – and Cr1t decided they will start a new team known as „OG“ in hopes to penetrate the market and gain a competitive edge, which is exactly what they have accomplished on doing.

After all of that occurred it was decided that OG is being assembled, and the rest is pretty much history.

OG is one of the best, if not one of the leading e-sports team for Dota2 in the gaming industry. They primarily and professionally play Dota2 in its entirety, years on end. They have participated in many events, tournaments, exops and cons, pretty much over the whole world. With a successful roster, team vision and mutual effectiveness they have started a very rapidly growing and successful story that surely will not end in the days, weeks, months and years; if not decades to come.

Ownership And Other Details

OG was a team made up of ex team members of a previous team – (monkey) Business. OG started to function thereafter bringing even more success than (monkey) Business.

Original founders and co-founders are mentioned to be MoonMeander, Miracle – and Cr1t, which later on unfortunately left the team, but that did not stop the team on winning their Boston Major in December of the year 2016, which was a tremendous victory and which represents a new era for OG and with the time for a more adjusted and updated roster can finally come to its beginnings.

Individual Member Net Worth

As everyone in the world of gaming already knows, OG’s biggest tournament and financial success came in 2015, when they have finished first place on the Inaugural Dota 2 Major Championship, earning a staggering $ 1,000,000 in prize money.

In a very short amount of time, and without a fortune in starting capital they have managed to get their fair share of funds during the years. If you are searching for a success story, just enter „OG“ in your search browser and all will be revealed and you will see why these words are of wisdom and truth.

Notable OG Results And Achievements

The first most notable victory happened is the previously mentioned Inaugural Dota 2 Major Championship in which they were declared absolute winners.

The second most notable victory was on the ESL One Frankfurt 2016, a tournament that they have also won predominantly.

The third and most famous victory they had actually happened in April 2017 on the Kiev Major, an achievement that allowed them to have 4 Major victories under their belt, along with the Manila Major, that is.

Of course we cannot fail to mention the outstanding success on their Boston Major that happened in December of 2016 in which they won the entire tournament.

They are also known known for major victories against rival e-sports teams such as the Evil Geniuses, CDEC Gaming and Team Secret, OG has delivered excellence in the true form of success when it comes to online (e-sports) team vs. team playing experiences.

As mentioned above, their most recent victory happened in April of 2017 in Kiev and from that point onward we can only expect good, if not the best possible outcomes, results and scores from one of the most successful e-sports team in the world – OG.

Current Roster

The current OG roster is Tal Aizik known as „Fly“, Anathan Phan, known as „ana“, Gustav Magnusson, known as „s4“, Jesse Vainikka, known as „JerAx“ and Johan Sundstein, finally known as „N0tail“. It is very interesting that some of these individuals are not even from/or living in Europe, but that they list Europe as their country of origin.

Known as one of the most famous, hyped and notorious gaming rosters, specifically Dota 2 gaming rosters, this 5 piece Dota machine delivers excellence, perfection and an absolute game changer to the next generation of online gaming.

Founding members MoonMeander, Miracle and Cr1t unfortunately left OG, but that did not represent the end as everyone expected. It actually represented a victory, as it did not stop them to win one of their four proclaimed Majors, specifically – the Boston Major.

As members go, it is a very important thing to mention that OG, in its team, has the only individual in the world to have a Dota2 matchmaking of over 9000, which makes them a record breaker/holder in a way. It surely helps the team gain competitive advantage in efforts to penetrate the market as effectively as can be done, a wide specter of activities in which OG is actually the best.

The Ups And Downs Of OG

As with every successful story, both good and bad times happened for OG, which is a perfectly normal thing, given that OG is a relatively „new“ name in the gaming industry. Even though they had their fair share of major and minor victories such as the Kiev and Manila Major, Inaugural Dota 2 Major Championship and the ESL One Frankfurt 2016, they also had some drawbacks and slumps, like every rapidly growing and successful e-sports team in the world.

They have unfortunately finished 7th on the Shanghai Major in March of 2016, and have more unsuccessful competitions in the past. One notable example of it is when they were defeated in all three games in a best of five series by Invictus Gaming. They have also suffered some lineup changes in their roster for a given tournament, but that actually did not stop them from winning the Boston Major in the year 2016.

Given into account that this organization is relatively new and is currently offering ground-breaking experience, we can definitely conclude by saying that every Dota 2 fan in the world is beyond stoked in seeing what the future holds next for OG. It is imperative that every Dota 2 fan carefully monitors their activities in tournaments, cons, expos, minor and major leagues and so on. It is, without a doubt that the future represents a sunny, warm and prosperous place for this e-sports team – for the days, weeks, months, years and even maybe decades to come.

Dota 2 couples on beach

Dota 2 couples on beach

Dota 2 couples on beach

in this thread wie will determine which heroes make the best couples.

Legion Comander and Chen – goo dmatch. Nice sense of fashion and they balance each other personality wise. Probably live in a mansion with all thw gold they have

Venge and Skywrath – this is the obvious one (check out the lore)

QoP and KotL (dominatrix with dirty old man) or QoP and Razor (osme nice whip action)

Invoker just pleasures himself to his image in the mirror, because he’s that kind of guy

Brood-Nyx heck throw Weaver in the mix he needs some loving too. so many legs

Pudge and. Crytal Maiden? poor CM, oh I don’t want to picture that

Bane and. anyone. Fiendsgrip doesn’t discriminate. Anyone can get tentacled.

Nightstalker and BH are the odd dudes out. Other heroes run from them for a reason. I’m not sure these two would ever find mutually consensual relationships.

DP is too bootylicious for anyone.

NP and Treant – seems like a lock

ok keep adding to the list

As for couples or just simple community, or as friends.

Enchantess, Nature’s and Treant are friends. Enchantess would probably be with Magnus due to being the only other quad-pedal creature there of intelligence that won’t kill her. (Leshrac is insane.)

Crystal Maiden and Lina are sister. Ember Spirit and Lina might due a nice pair due being strongly associating with fire. Otherwise, maybe Clinkz and her would be friends at least.

Rylai (Crystal) would associate with Tusk and Lich. Tusk is probably her best friend and she’d probably marry Sven.

Riki doesn’t have a time for a relationship. Nor Bounty. They’d be probably having friendly sparring.

Nightstalker and Bane would work together being the enities of fear and nightmare.

Death Phophet and Void/Nercophos would be together due to the similiarities with Time/Death.

Rubick is raiding Invoker’s library while Carl is busy with Magina. Dota 2 couples on beach (Anti-mage)

Doom, Shadow Demon, and Shadow Fiend are in hell basically.

Tiny and Earth Spirit are fighting for Medusa. Dota 2 couples on beach Since they are stone, and it’s kinda hard to turn stone into. stone.

Anyway, Luna and Mirana are both lesbians and probably have a love-hate relationship due to their religion with Selemene.

Slardar is hunting Slark who is dating Naga Siren.

Axe, Centaur, and Troll are in an arena, killing things together or fighting against each other.

Dota 2 Still King According to Esports Earnings

By Greg Dempsey

November 12, 2018

Esportsearnings. com has been around for a long time. It’s hard to ignore it since it pops up whenever someone Googles esports tournaments. The site catalogs every single esports game and every single tournament that awards esports earnings, creating a single, aggregate location where people can freely look up monetary data for games and their tournaments.

It’s not flashy by any means, but it’s served its purpose for several years now. Every year, the esports landscape changes drastically, and so too does the esports economy.

Let’s take a look at some of the data. Dota 2 valve earnings As games, players, and tournaments are constantly shifting on the Esports Earnings leaderboards, this is a good time to analyze before the data gets skewed by huge releases like Smash Brothers Ultimate, Battlefield V, and Anthem.

Team Earnings Data

Don’t expect anyone to dethrone Team Liquid for years to come, as they have a nearly $4,000,000 lead above the number two team (Evil Geniuses). With a whopping 1404 tournaments under their belt and the only four-digit tournament number in the top 100, no one can eclipse their sheer influence and weight.

The two “skew teams” are Team OG and Wings Gaming. OG has around $17,000,000 from 49 tournaments, while Wings Gaming has claimed $10,000,000 from just 22 tournaments. It’s hard to call them breakout superstars compared to titans like Fnatic and EG because the majority of their winnings are from Dota 2 Internationals.

(Note: The International skewing results is a common theme of esports aggregate data, which carries its own connotations. Valve is a juggernaut when it comes to prize money, and they have already stated their willingness to continue with their next game, Artifact. With millions of dollars up for grabs, no other gaming tournament or company sponsor can come close.)

2018 Tournaments to Break the Top 100 Prize Pools

The biggest tournaments of 2018 were mostly what you’d expect. League of Legends, Dota 2, the Overwatch League, and a smattering of CS:GO made the list.

The surprise factor lies with Halo 5, now on life support years after release. Kudos to 343 and Microsoft for continuing to support what has become a niche shooter compared to Overwatch, CS:GO and the royale genre.

The larger surprise is the complete lack of Hearthstone. The assumption here is that most of Hearthstone’s revenue comes from streaming and publicity, with very little happening in the competitive pro scene, but it seems to be a little deeper than that. Card games, in general, tend to have very low prize pools, even the biggest ones, like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. If Valve puts up massive prize pools for Artifact, as they do for Dota 2, other companies will fall behind in the esports scene as pros migrate to the game with more financial backing.

While the uber-popular Fortnite has since toppled PUBG, it’s also surprising to see not a single top-100 tournament during its 2018 fame. This might be because of bad timing, as its peak “fad” popularity was early 2018. Bigger releases and other royale shooters quickly overshadowed it. If we haven’t seen a top-100 esports earnings PUBG by now, we probably won’t see one in 2019, even with upcoming console content.

Top 100 and 200 Player Data

The top 100 has seen players flex in and out due to Dota 2 International winnings, LCS winnings, and CS:GO major winnings. Overwatch players, have yet to break into this bracket.

KuroKy (pictured right), a German Dota 2 player, sits at number one for highest overall esports earnings of all time and has repeatedly placed in the International tournaments over the years. At only 25 years old, he has already won over 4 million dollars from his lifetime esports career. The number two spot is N0tail, a 25-year old from Denmark. His number one finish in the 2018 International skyrocketed his career, even though he has placed first in several European majors (such as The Frankfurt, Manila, and Kiev majors).

The top 61 earners are all Dota 2 players, besides Faker, the League of Legends mid-lane master. Faker, unfortunately, has yet to report esports earnings from previous years. He had over $200,000 in 2015, closed 2016 with over $400,000, but hasn’t broken five figures from tournament winnings in 2018.

Karma and Crimsix, two Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare mains, hold 95 and 96. Go figure.

The 100 to 200 bracket are where things get interesting. Hearthstone is starting to creep up on the old vanguards. Especially notable are Warcraft 3’s Moon and StarCraft’s Flash. This is also where we start to see Call of Duty players, Halo players, and fighting game players.

More specifically, a single fighting game player. SonicFox is the highest-earning fighting game player of all time, only being $30k shy of $500,000 in lifetime esports earnings. He hasn’t been competing for long, but he is a hugely dominant force in his genre. You might know him as the winner of Dragonball FighterZ at Evo 2018 and being the best Mortal Kombat X and Injustice player before that. (Skullgirls, too, but hey, who’s counting?)

Top Games

The leaderboard for top earning games can be found here.

The top 20 are exactly what you’d expect, with more fun data appearing further down the list. Smash Bros Melee vastly outperforms Smash Bros Ultimate (fair, considering its age), Heroes of Newerth (now defunct) manages to stay above games like Rocket League. Asia-restricted games like CrossFire can still beat out heavy hitters, like FIFA.

Mobile games pop-in around #40, with Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, and Vainglory. They currently have 10-20 events per year but would certainly see growth with more tournaments.

Warcraft 3 continues to drop lower and lower. Eventually, it will phase out of the top-earning spot (even though it still holds an impressive 5 million). FIFA 18 manages to stay at 29, even though it’s difficult for yearly release sports games to attain (and maintain) high numbers on their own. Perhaps sites like these should start collecting data by franchise instead of by installment.

Conclusion

The data is clear. Anyone who wants to make real money in competitive esports should be focusing on Dota 2. Valve has set a precedent for massive prize pools and other companies, like Epic Games, are just starting to catch up. From the data, we can also determine that Team Liquid is quite possibly the best (or at least most successful) team in the business.

Also, don’t expect a bright future from competitive PUBG. Fortnite will be the reigning king of battle royale for the foreseeable future.

Chinese Dota 2 community and some of the professional teams unite against racism. Their actions come in response to the two recent incidents where two professional players made a racist remark about the Chinese people.

At the start of a game versus Chinese team Royal Never Give Up (RNG), during the DreamLeague Season 10 Minor, CompLexity Gaming’s Rolen Andrei Gabriel “Skemberlu” Ong wrote “Gl chingchong” in all chat. Chingchong is a mockery to the Chinese speech and it’s very resembled to the racists N word from the English language. Skem faced the community backlash and he was fined by his organization for his immature and racist comment. He also made a public apology, however, the Chinese community expected a more severe punishment, form either DreamLeague or even from Valve.

We have been made aware of an inappropriate comment by one of our players in today’s #coLDota #DreamLeague match. Complexity Gaming does not condone intolerance of any kind and the player will receive a formal reprimand, as well as a maximum fine.

I’d like to apologize for the language I used today during the dreamleague match. I understand that words have consequences and I have learned from my mistake. I am very sorry to anyone that was offended.

Moments after this incident, Carlo “Kuku” Palad from TNC Predator said the exact same word, but in a pub game. Neither TNC nor Kuku made an official comment on the situation, but after it escalated on Reddit, Kuku made a Weibo account to explain that one of the players from the opposite team in his game had his nickname Ching Chong and he used it in chat after he was killed by that player.

At the beginning of this week, the Chinese racist word became a meme and it was used by some of the community members as the second Major of the 2018-2019 Dota Pro Circuit was announced, The Chongqing Major.

While Valve are still silent to all this drama, Perfect World, the Dota 2 publisher in China, made an official announcement on Weibo stating the followings:

We know all of you have been following the of the recent racial discrimination incident. Great attention has been paid from our end and we strongly condemn this type of action as no one should be allowed to trample down the national sentiment of others. As such, starting from now, shall similar situation occur in any tournaments hosted by Perfect World, player and team involved will get disqualified immediately.

Perfect World stands alongside with every player and we are determined to defend the dignity of our country.”

Team Aster, Vici Gaming and PSG. LGD Gaming have also taken this matter seriously and to raise awareness and prevent incidents like these go unnoticed, each organization posted an official response to what happened at the DreamLeague Minor.

PSG. LGD Gaming:

“Esports spirit is beyond the limit of nationalities but racism is an issue that should not be overlooked! In any event, racial statements against China should not appear in the professional scene. We really wish that Valve could step in and take appropriate actions regarding the recent racial discrimination incident. Regardless of where it happens and when it happens, national dignity is our bottom line.”

Vici Gaming:

从COL队员skem比赛公屏打字“ching chong”后 推特道歉,到TNC队员KuKu顶风作案路人局辱华,后自导自演改ID“道歉”毫无忏悔之意,再到国内Chongqing (cont) https://t. co/FLvyQcmHmg

“In the light of recent negative behavior, from coL skem and TNC KuKu, to the Chongqing Major being ridiculed, VG wants to make a statement.

VICI Gaming strongly condemns these actions. We believe youth and ignorance is not an excuse for such mistakes. We hope Valve will step in, hoping to maintain a good domestic and international competitive environment.”

Team Aster:

“Recently, two racist incidents against China happened, one from team coL in a Minor match and the other from team TNC in a pub game. Multiple parties have reported these. Unfortunately, no reaction has been made from Valve’s end. We are very disappointed with how things end up and Valve’s neglectful attitude!

Respect is a mutual thing. Hereby Team Aster promise that, if any racial statements ever came from our players or our staff, they will be punished severely, and publicly. And we welcome the supervision from everyone. In the upcoming tournaments, we will follow the #RESPECT campaign from UEFA, and add the suffix RESPECT to IDs of our players, until pro players from all around the world attach importance to this matter and until no such thing ever happens again.

With Valve’s dereliction of its duty at the moment, we hope and urge, matters like fair competition and racial equality are properly addressed ASAP, with the community’s joint efforts.”

Esports veteran and western community favorite Dota 2 anchor, Paul “Redeye” Chaloner has also shared his point of view on the drama, but made an appeal to the Dota 2 fans to control and lower their anger with Skem.

In addition to this it does raise another issue which is rarely talked about. PR training. These are young people who are suddenly exposed to massive audiences and with some backgrounds are going to make epic mistakes.

PR and media training for pro players is essential.

“Don’t use racism to combat racism, it doesn’t solve anything, “said Redeye on Twitter while he also opens the discussion looking at this drama from a bigger angle: “PR and media training for pro players is essential.”
