Snith is a fantastic Chen player and I know maybe two who could match him.

Grimorium was a very skilled and flashy invoker, that sadly didn’t win him very many games as it quickly became a very inefficient way to play invoker. He was massively addicted to match toggling to make his stats look better than they were. On a remade account during the no cap smurf days the highest he got on his main was 5.1 and he dropped/quit quite some time ago so who knows where he’d be.

Still decent guy and watching him and Don John cry it out on the forums will be missed. Was some good times.

Why Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is the best competitive shooter in 2019

Amidst a world dominated by shooters, Siege shines uniquely in a crowded market. I got into Siege about two years ago and having persevered through its admittedly steep learning curve, and I have been amazed by Ubisoft’s continuing support for the game and how I still find new tips and tricks to improve my ability.

Siege is a shooter unlike any other, though it combines some similar elements from existing games. The unique operators are akin to characters in Overwatch or Dota 2, while the twitch shooting and accuracy required is like CS:GO. Siege stands out because of its dynamic map design and how its operators interact with them. Destructible surfaces are not new in shooters, but Siege handles them well by using them sparingly, allowing defending players to reinforce a few walls to make them mostly indestructible, hindering the attacking team’s progress to the objectives.

However, if the attackers are smart enough to bring along hard breachers (characters with abilities to get through reinforced walls), they can bypass defender reinforcements. But, if the defenders are smart, they can use characters to nullify hard breachers, and so on. This is what creates the best thing about Siege; its operators, their abilities and the synergy between them.

For instance, the attacker Thermite can breach reinforced walls with his thermite charge; however, the defenders Mute, Bandit and Kaid can block his charges using their gadgets, effectively locking down the objective. But, with the SAS attacker Thatcher, his EMP grenades will disable any defender gadgets blocking the wall, allowing Thermite to blow a hole into the site, so teamwork is paramount.

There is a huge variety of operators from special forces teams all over the world from the British SAS and French GIGN to the Chinese SDU, and each character has their own unique loadout and abilities suitable for any playstyle whether that’s a “fragger”, someone whose main goal is to secure kills, a site-breacher or a general support character.

My favourite is the Spanish attacker Jackal. His role is simple: be the ultimate pain in any roamer’s (players who seek to sneak up on and flank the attacking team) backside. His awesome gadget, the Eyenox visor, allows him to identify and track footprints left by defenders in the last 90 seconds. Once tracked, the target’s position is pinged once every 5 seconds for 20 seconds, so any sneaky players planning to flank the attackers have their plans foiled. Experienced players can even estimate how recently the footprints were left. The catch is Jackal can only do this three times per round, after which point his vision is distorted when using his visor, and he cannot aim or shoot while scanning.

This leads to a key aspect of Siege: For the most part, the operators are fantastically well balanced. Operators with the strongest guns such as Ash are often kept in check with relatively simplistic gadgets, such as her breaching launcher, while those with the best gadgets, such as Echo’s player-stunning Yokai drones, receive weaker weapons. When operators are released in an over or underpowered state, Ubisoft is reasonably quick to respond to complaints, resulting in nerfs to the previously overpowered Ela and Lion and buffs to underpowered characters like Mute and Finka. Dota 2 headshot 16 handles Indeed, Lion, with his motion-scanning drone, is under ongoing scrutiny and Ubisoft are looking at a further nerf to his ability. As such, you can pick pretty much any character and their loadout and not be at a disadvantage. While in some games there are weapons or characters that are significantly worse than others, in Siege the playing field is much more even.

Furthermore, the four free seasonal updates allow the game to constantly evolve. Each season, 2 new operators and a map/map rework are added to the game, often completely changing the meta. Dota 2 headshot 16 handles For instance, one of the more recent operators Maverick has a blowtorch that can melt small “murderholes” into reinforced walls and attack defenders from an angle they were not expecting. As such, defenders now must now constantly pay more attention to reinforced walls, a drastic change from before his implementation. This is what keeps Siege fresh nearly 4 years after release.

I also revel in the fact that simply getting kills and having the best aim is not what makes someone “good” at the game. Sure, being able to accurately headshot your opponents will naturally make you win more games, but the true skill is in map knowledge, spatial awareness and clever communication with your team. For instance, a FPS-shooter legend may be able to single-handedly shoot their way to victory, but a closely coordinated team may tactically attack the site from multiple angles at once, using their gadgets together to confuse and disrupt the opposing team’s efforts, leading to a more satisfying and cooperative victory.

So, while Ubisoft have released some lacklustre titles recently, such as Watch Dogs 2 and Far Cry 5, Siege continues to be the multiplayer shooter I enjoy the most. The amount of free content added to the game since launch, the constant balancing of operators and evolving dynamic of the game keeps Siege worth playing even after thousands of hours of gameplay. Indeed, Siege’s continued popularity according to the Steam player charts is testament to its ability to draw gamers in. Perhaps other shooters that go for the classic “annual reskin of last year’s game” tactic should reconsider their business models, given the success of games that receive long-term support, such as Siege and especially Fortnite. Other than the new location, here’s why the 2019 Dota 2 International is such a big deal:

SO. MUCH. MONEY.

Through the sheer force of will of its fans and players, Dota 2 remains a powerhouse in the yearly esports calendar. For the last nine years the Dota 2 International has broken records for the single largest prize pool of any esports event. EVER.

Last year’s International reached a record high $25 million dollars, and this year’s crowdfunded prize pool has already exceeded it, at $27 million and growing.

The success of Fortnite means Dota will have to fight harder to stay on top, since Epic Games recently raised the bar with a combined $30M prize pool for the Fortnite World Cup. Though the Fortnite solo champion will take home $3M in July, the winning Dota 2 International team will easily clear over $10M.

The Stakes

There’s a lot riding on this year’s International. The Dota community has long speculated about what could happen to the game’s staying power should the prize pool dip below years past (which it has now exceeded). Many fans still haven’t shaken off memories from the disastrous Dota Major held in Shanghai at the same venue in 2016, either.

All things considered, 2019’s International is going to be a turning point for the professional Dota 2 scene, and you’re not going to want to miss it.

Before diving in on the best ways to check out The International, you might need a quick refresher on how to make sense of a Dota match. Check out our primer to wrap your head around the basics.

How to Watch the Tournament:

Method 1: In person!

The best way to see any esports event is always in person. If you weren’t lucky enough to grab tickets when they went on sale in May, keep an eye on places like /r/dota2 or your favourite Dota community’s Discord server. People will often sell tickets for face value if they can’t make it for one reason or another.

Be wary of ticket resale sites, however, as there’s often no guarantee of what you’re getting and the prices can be grossly inflated.

Method 2: Host A Watch Party

The International has always been a terrific venue for meeting up with your 5-stack and spending an entire week geeking out on Dota, but heading all the way to Shanghai might be out of some people’s price range. So why not host your own watch party?

Pick someone’s house, or rent an Airbnb with enough space for everyone. Just make sure they’ve got all the amenities you need like a big TV and decent internet. You’ll be set!

The best thing about this is you don’t even have to go someplace fancy or expensive. Pick a state. ANY state. One of the middle ones is probably fine.

The worst thing about traveling to a tournamnent is going back to your hotel room and not being able to play Dota after getting so hyped up watching it all day. Get everyone to bring a gaming rig and you’ll be grinding MMR and Auto Chess when the day’s events wrap up.

Just again, make sure the place you’re staying at can handle that many PCs in the living room. Maybe pack some extension cords and power strips, just in case.

Method 3: A Show Within A Show

Keep an eye on what other studios and talent might be getting up to during TI9. The folks at Moonduck have plans to put together a live rebroadcast event for the North American audience, which could be really cool if it works out.

Any of your favourite Dota streamers that weren’t invited to Shanghai will probably be casting, re-capping, or live-commenting on the International as well, so you’ll be able to find something under Twitch’s Dota 2 directory between August 15th-25th.

Time Zones Suck

Hardcore fans will definitely want to screw up their sleep schedules to keep up with the matches as they’re happening. You’ll be able to catch the broadcast on the International’s official Twitch channel with games starting around 4am EST (1am PST) and finishing around 1pm EST (10am PST). Times will vary depending on that day’s schedule.

Some people in this community seem to be confused about the TI5 format. TI5 was a hybrid event that combined two standard tourney formats:

1) invitational event where players are invited directly

2) open qualifier event where teams from around the world are allowed to fight their way through a grueling bracket with hundreds of other teams.

These 12 teams were invited directly into the main event in Seattle:

• Vici Gaming
• Evil Geniuses
• Team Secret
• Invictus Gaming
• LCG Gaming
• Cloud9
• Team Empire
• Virtus. pro
• Newbee
• Fanatic

These teams were invited based on recent tournament performance, such as the DOTA2 Asia Championships. One team, Newbee, may not have deserved an invite based on their recent performances, but Newbee won TI4, so it makes perfect sense for last year’s winner to be invited as well.

The 12 invites were joined in Seattle by 4 qualified teams and 4 wild card teams. These 8 teams fought through insanely difficult, short-time-span open qualifier events in their regions. First they had to get ahead of 100s of teams in one of four 2-day Open Qualifier events (one for each region). Then they had to play a mini Main-Event style tournament over a one week period to be narrowed down to 2 teams from each region (one qualifier and one wildcard).

Qualified teams: EHOME, compLexity Gaming, MVP Hot6, NAVI
Wildcards: CDEC, Archon, MVP Phoenix, Vega Squadron

These 8 joined the invited 12 in Seattle for an awesome group stage at the end of July (almost purely for seeding purposes), and finally the Main Event at the Key Arena from August 3rd-8th. EG defeated CDEC (wildcard) and won 18 million dollars, which was $1 million from Valve to get it going, and

$17 million raised via crowd-funding, where 25% of all compendium proceeds went to the Prize Pool, and 75% (approx. $51 million) went to Valve. The success of TI5 has reverberated throughout gaming and international media. It5 dota 2

Dota 2 troll mask of madness drow

One of the teams in the international C9 plays a lot of Drow (compared ot other teams). Their player EternalEnvy (pretty popular player) loves going mask of madness with her. I’m assuming thats why they gave it to her as an item.

I guess that makes sense and thanks for the contribution to the discussion!
Anyways despite that i dont think it is something that is TYPICAL of a core build. I dunno, i was disappointed to see it on a hero like her i guess

Its for fast attack/movement speed much like other hero would need it (FV etc).

MOM on drow has been popular since dota 1 but most people dont go straight on it cos you will die fairly quick with it. Unless you got a good timing, you basically owning with it early game (this depend on how you lvl drow skill set).

As for me, depends on enemy hero pick, my starting item with drow will always be power thread and mom then the rest.

Is it just me or could this item have been better adapted to a hero that uses it in its CORE build (like Faceless Void). Just my two cents

A lot of damage + great attack speed and a small life steal is pretty good. That’s why.

Drow with lothars and mask of madness can silence an enemy, turn on the mask and kill the enemy hero in 1-2 seconds.

Also, that “blades” for Morph, dafuq, the concept is amazing but I believe the creators make the blades fit into morph by force, it dont fit his theme despite those are a tribute to ethereal blade I believe

Before everone goes on discussing builds lets get on thing straight
1: despite the points you have given me being true, Mask is still not an item built on drow very often. In high skill games maybe, but she isnt particulary a popular pick in those games anyways. Thats why i think faceless, a hero YOU ALMOST ALAWAYS build a mask for should have had it IMO

2: we are ALSO discussing wether the COMETIC ITEM is suited to her, not wether the item in-game is useful for a build.

4 Tips On How To Increase Your MMR

You love the game but losings got you down. You want to win but your teammates suck and the matchmaking system is unfair and broken. You want to level up your rank but the mandated 50% win schedule won’t allow it.

I used to feel the same way and the thought of becoming Ancient seemed impossible, let alone Divine. Then I got to Ancient but no way could I reach Divine. Then I reached Divine 1 last season, the highest MMR achievement I got in years.

In this article, I’m going to share with you tips on how to increase your MMR for fame, clout, and something to brag about.

Research what’s strong in your bracket

Some people believe drafting in Dota is at least 50% of the game. If you win the draft, chances are you’ll win the game. Of course, you still have to play well and execute in your game but with a favorable draft, playing well and executing is a lot easier.

Gain that competitive draft advantage by researching what heroes do well in your bracket.

By checking out the Dotabuff hero meta tab you can easily find out what’s strong in your bracket. For example, if you’re a Legend, you can see that Drow Ranger, Lycan, Visage, Clinkz, and Underlord have the highest win rates. You can go down the list to find some heroes you’re good at and try picking those heroes, you might have a good time.

To take that step further, you can look through each hero that does well in your bracket and find their counters. For example, if you look at Drow Ranger’s hero page, you can see that she does the worst against Mars, Sniper, Axe, Centaur Warrunner, and Broodmother. Then if you see your enemy pick Drow Ranger in your game you can counter them.

Play team fights better

Team fights are a crucial part of the game. One team fight win after losing five can be the start of an epic come back. One team fight loss can be the start of a tilt that doesn’t stop until you lose. Playing your role in an ideal way can be the difference between winning and losing a team fight.

To understand how to play your role properly let’s look at how the pro players play. One playstyle that seems to be a winning strategy is to counter initiate rather than initiate. You can see this strategy at work during the ESL One Hamburg 2019 finals.

TNC. kpii and his team won the tournament and his itemization prioritized tanky items. This allowed him to initiate or get initiated on and survive the initial burst. His team would then follow up while the enemy used all their spells.

This coincides with the rise of Abaddon as a position 3. Abaddon’s playstyle revolves around this strategy thanks to his ultimate ability. The enemy has to spend their fighting resources bringing him low only for him to become immune to damage once he’s low. After the enemy used all their spells and good position to bring him low, Abaddon’s team can jump in and use their spells to counter initiate.

Another important tip is positioning yourself if you’re a spell caster. If your role is to use spells in a fight then you don’t want to be initiated on. As a Rubick or Lion or Oracle, if you get caught then you get blown up and then you’re useless in the fight.

If you watch the pro players play spell-casting heroes, they’re usually out of sight in team fights. They don’t hang around where all the action is happening as they can get caught and blown up. They hang out outside where the action is happening and then wait until their spells are ready to use at an optimal time, and then they enter the fight.

So don’t hang around in the main fight, right-clicking and doing 50 damage and risk getting blown up. Stay positioned on the outskirts of the fight and only enter when your spells are ready. Ideally, wait until you have an optimal opening.

Play heroes you’re good at

This seems like an obvious tip but it’s relevant. The way I reached Divine was by playing my best heroes over and over again. This can get boring but if your goal is to reach a high MMR, then it can be your best strategy.

I was playing exclusively position 4 as Mirana, Lina, Riki, Clockwerk and rarely picked other heroes. By doing this I was able to maximize my impact in the game and influenced the outcome more than if I were feeding as a hero I wasn’t good at.

It’s frustrating to be on a team with someone who doesn’t know how to play their hero, especially in a ranked game. Don’t be this person, play your best heroes.

When you reach your highest MMR potential, you play in high-level games. In high-level games, the average player is more skilled, more capable, and has more game knowledge than in lower-tier games. As you play in these games, you are more likely to be outplayed and it’s through those moments of being outplayed you can really learn where your weaknesses are as a player. KawaiiSocks talks about this in an article he wrote about climbing the MMR leaderboards and what he learned after reaching Immortal.

Watch pro games, streams, and player perspectives

One of the main ways I leveled up my play style and Dota knowledge was by watching pro games, streams, and player perspectives.

These pro players are the best at the game and if you watch them play, chances are they play the game differently than you. A great thing about Dota is you can see exactly how a player like Liquid. Miracle – or BananaSlamJamma plays the game.

One thing I’ve noticed is how the pros play carry and support. Carry players spend a lot of time in the jungle. The carry’s job is to farm and get big, and farming in lane isn’t always the best idea. Dota 2 low mmr rbgs When I watched pro carrys, they would farm the jungle every chance they got. I started farming the jungle as much as I could when I played carry and my GPM improved. Farming the jungle is safer than farming in lane and you want to spend as much time as possible killing creeps when you’re carrying.

For pro supports one thing I noticed was the way they participate in team fights. As touched on earlier, they aren’t in the middle of the action as its happening. They stay out of range of the fight until their spells are ready or there is a great opening for their spell. For example, as an Earthshaker, they don’t jump in the fight and start right-clicking even though he’s a melee hero. They wait until the enemy groups up on one of their teammates and when they’re all lined up they use Fissure to stun multiple enemies, save their teammate, counter initiate, and stop the gank all at once.

It can be tempting to jump in the fight as its happening but as a support spell-caster, it’s important to exercise patience. You’re no use in a fight if you die or get blown up so wait until there’s a good opening and then strike.

Final thoughts

All in all, it comes down to practice and game knowledge if you want to improve your MMR. You gain knowledge by watching pro players and watching tournaments and listening to analysts. You gain practice simply by playing more and trying out different heroes and strategies.

Research and meta-knowledge are also important. If you’re only playing a hero that is extremely low in win rate percentage you can stop the losses by simply picking another hero. By researching what heroes are strong and what their counters are can help you win games by out drafting your enemy.

And remember, your MMR is not a reflection of your worth as a player. How much you enjoy the game is the most important statistic so enjoy it! Keep a positive mental attitude and use the mute function if your teammates are being toxic.

This guide will explain how to create a stylized banner for your team in Dota 2.

Before we get started you are going to need a few tools so you can follow along with the guide.

You will need some form of image editor. In this guide I will be using Adobe Photoshop CS5 but other versions of the program should work just fine. You can use GIMP or PAINT. NET as a free alternative to Photoshop as well.

Additionally you are going to need the Dota 2 Banner Templates. You can create everything yourself from scratch but the Dota 2 team have created some pretty great starting points which we will be using in this tutorial.

You can find links to all of the necessary stuff below.

You have four separate spots for branding when you create a team. To edit your team logos navigate to the Community tab on the main menu within Dota 2. Once you are there you will be able to click on the My Teams tab and then choose Edit Logo located at the bottom of the pane.

Below is an explanation of each logo and where they will be placed within the game, along with their corresponding size requirements.

Team Interface Logo: This image will be used on the HUD, lobbies and so on. This image will be re-sized to 250 x 150 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Sponsors: This image will be used to display team sponsorship on a Team Profile panel. It will be re-sized to 250 x 150 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Base Logo: This logo will be used to decorate your in-game base. It will be re-sized to 256 x 256 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Team Banner Logo: This logo will be placed on your in-game banners. It will be re-sized to 256 x 256 pixels. Below is where you will see this image in the game.

Before we begin you will need to figure out what it is you want to use for your banners. In this tutorial I will be creating a fake team called “Tiny Cat”. I will be using images of my cat called Matilda, she’s cute.

If you’d like to follow along with this tutorial using the same images I use you can find them below.

Unlike other Source games, Dota 2 handles transparent images in a more native way. Instead of relying on Alpha Channels, Dota 2 is able to import a transparent PNG and have it read it in a way you would expect.

The Interface, Sponsor and Base Logo areas handle transparency normally. The only exception is the Banner Logo. Try to imagine that the banners have no background to them at all. If you imported a transparent image in to the game, the only areas that will render will be the visible parts of the image. In other words the image you are importing is not being layered on to something else, it just floats there.

When I import this image in to Dota 2 without any transparency all I get is a basic rectangle shape for my banner.

If I erase some areas of the image I start to form a different shape, notice that nothing is rendered in the transparent areas.

You’ll also probably notice that only half of the image is being shown. This is because when the image is imported in the game it is draped over a pole. The left side will be displayed from the front and the right side will be displayed from the back. With the default game camera you will primarily see the front side of the pole only. In other words you have 256 x 128 of usable space for the front, and 256 x 128 usable space for the back.

The Dota 2 team has provided some excellent starting points for creating team banners. They have included some basic shapes along with some nice textures which you can use to improve your banner and to make it look good within the game. If you don’t already have the team banner templates you can grab them here.

For this tutorial I will be using the template titled border_invertedarrow_00. Open up the image in Photoshop by going to File > Open and selecting the template.

With the template open the first thing we are going to do is create a new layer. You can do this by going to the Layers panel and selecting the Create New Layer option. I’ve highlighted this selection below.

Once you have created a new layer the next thing we are going to do is move it so it’s underneath the template. You can do this by selecting the layer on the panel and dragging it underneath the existing layer.

Any image imported on this layer will now show up underneath the template.

Open up the image you want to use for your banner and copy it so it’s on your clipboard. Go back to Photoshop and paste it in, you can do this by tapping Control + V or by going to Edit > Paste. You should now have something which looks similar to what I have below.

If you’re using the same images as I am the scale will be way off when you first import it. Click on the Move Tool and make sure you have Show Transform Controls checked at the top. Once this is turned on you will see some areas around the image that you can use to resize it. Grab one of the corners and hold down Shift on your keyboard. This will keep the image constrained perfectly so it’s impossible to make it look squished or deformed.

When you’re done you should have something which looks like this.

You can repeat this process until you have completed making your banner. In my example I didn’t cover the back area of the banner so I created another new layer underneath the template one and imported a second image to fill up all of the white space.

The next part in the process is to remove the excess areas which are outside of the banner template. Because the templates have a thick border this is very easy to do. Make sure you are happy with your banner design before proceeding as it will not be as easy to edit it past this point.

Hold down Shift and select every layer besides the one which has the banner template on it. With everything selected, right click and choose Merge Layers.

Your Layers panel should now look something like this. Both the front and back are all on one layer and the template is on another.

Select the Polygon Lasso tool by right clicking the Lasso tool on the Tools Menu. This will bring up a sub-menu where the Polygon Lasso tool will be an option.

Select the layer which has your design on it and trace around the areas which fall outside of the template. Because the border of the template is thick it doesn’t have to be precise, so long as it doesn’t go inside of the banner. You should have something which looks like this.

Hit Delete on your keyboard and you’re done! If you followed along with this guide exactly you should now have something which looks like this.

All you need to do now is save your work. Go to File > Save As and choose PNG on the drop down menu.

All you need to do now is test it out in Dota 2 to see how it looks. Navigate to your team profile by going to Community > My Teams > Edit Team Info. Import the banner we just created under the Team Banner Logo section.

To test it out on the map create a Private Lobby by going to Play > Create Lobby. When you join a team a drop-down menu will appear at the top which will allow you to select your team. This will activate your team logos on the map.

And there we have it! You have successfully created a stylized team banner to show off your team in-game. Have fun and be creative. See if you can come up with some unique shapes and ideas, think outside the box!
