7 Most Overpowered Ability Draft Combos in 7.09

Ability Draft is finally playable in the new 7.09 patch. Here are some of the strongest Dota 2 Ability Draft combos we’ve tried.

7) Life Drain (Aghanim’s Upgraded) + Aftershock

Ever wondered what it’s like to not only suck people off but also permastun them at the same time? If you have, then this is the combo for you. Aftershock is a great skill to use in Ability Draft as it guarantees an easy 1.5 second stun with a selection of spells that have a less than 5 second cooldown.

Special mentions to use with Aftershock are:

  • Viscous Nasal Goo
  • Swashbuckle
  • Arcane Bolt
  • Shrapnel
  • Rearm (level 3) and any other spell

Special Mention goes to Ball Lightning with Aftershock, for being one of the most difficult combos to play against.

6) Walrus Punch + Tidebringer

I’m sure you can imagine how much fun this would be. Kill not just creepwaves, but decimate entire teamfights. Once Walrus Punch starts scaling (and it’s really powerful in the mid to late game), this combo is pretty much guaranteed to take half HP from the entire enemy team. The usual Shadow Blade and Desolator builds for Walrus Punch make it easy to itemize too.

Good ability draft combos with Tidebringer are:

  • Jinada
  • God’s Strength
  • Enchant Totem
  • Drunken Brawler

The really funny part is that Enchant Totem, Tidebringer, Drunken Brawler, and God’s Strength all stack together – so the combination of these spells would be pretty broken.

5) Fiery Soul + Quill Spray

Do you know my idea of a relaxing Sunday afternoon? Running around at max speed spraying quills everywhere, alone, on my computer while all my friends are out enjoying life. But hey, my friends don’t know the joy of spamming quills at max movement speed. And they’re probably Jungle Legion Commander players anyway. The low cooldown on the quills allows your hero to basically always have Fiery Soul charges. That’s a good place to be.

Other spells that synergize with this combo:

  • Thirst is the main one. Since Fiery Soul grands percentage based movespeed, Thirst amplifies that. The attack speed, attack damage and movespeed bonuses make you a fast, destructive monster if you have all three spells.
  • Warpath, the ultimate ability is great with this combo for obvious reasons. You basically become a Bristleback, but much faster and much more potent.
  • Astral Spirit procs Fiery Soul, so you can basically get permanent Fiery Soul stacks with the Spirit too. It’ll do less damage than Quills though.

4) Voodoo Restoration + Essence Aura

Unlimited mana and unlimited healing. This is one of those combos that shouldn’t be real, but has the possibility to be real if you want it to be. #Hardwork and #Dedication.

Essence Aura is also great with Mana Shield or Split Shot. Both of those give unlimited mana when procced, which is pretty often.

3) Focus Fire + Fury Swipes

This rather well known combo had to feature on this list. Even after the introduction of 7.09 where Focus Fire’s Attack Speed got reduced to 350, this is still an amazing combo. It’s probably even better for ranged heroes since you can move around now. In less than a second you should be able to stack up to more than 30 physical damage each hit.

Other abilities that work well with this combo:

  • Geminate Attack
  • Overpower
  • Headshot
  • Bash of the Deep or Time Lock

2) Shackles + Sticky Napalm

Anyone who has played Ability Draft, back when it was playable, knows the absolute havoc that Sticky Napalm can wreak. It’s an absolute nightmare to play against when someone gets this particular combo. Get napalm’d for a bit, and then you’re stunned for 5 seconds while you slowly whittle down to 0 HP and die.

Other amazing abilities to get with Sticky Napalm if you don’t get Shackles:

  • Ion Shell
  • Rot
  • Torrent
  • Rocket Barrage
  • Dark Pact

1) Overload + Rot

Rot procs Overload, so you get permanent Overload stacks while Rot is on. It’s a pretty straightforward, and yes, pretty broken ability combo. If my lucky stars aligned, and they never do, this is the combo I would pick every game. Synergizes great with any other mobility spell like Ball Lightning or Firefly, and deals a lot of damage.

Other great abilities to combo for permanent Overload:

  • Voodoo Resoration
  • Mana Shield
  • Split Shot

(Note that unlike with Fiery Soul, Overload is not procced by Astral Spirit.)

Introduction

My name is BlazedBuddha and this gu >

Pros / Cons

  • Amazing pushing potential.
  • Needs little to no itemization to be effective.
  • Great at harassing and easy to last hit/deny creeps.
  • Can farm gold while not in lane (plague wards)
  • Has 3 DoTs, 2 slows, and can block enemy heroes.
  • Can easily become a semi-carry with correct itemization.
  • Weak, little HP & armor.
  • Mana dependent.
  • Ult can be wasted very easily.
  • Usually needs a teammate in engagements, but CAN 1v1 some heroes.

Skills

Venomous Gale – This is your initiation AND one of your chase down skills. However, you only need 1 point for a while, so activate the skill at level 1.

Poison Sting – Add movement slow and DoT to your right click? Yes please! Again, only 1 point is really necessary for a while, so activate at level 2.

Plague Wards – Your bread and butter. Skill up ASAP: 3,4,5,8 is typically when I level this skill. Plague wards are great for numerous reasons.

  1. Autofarm!
  2. 20 MP observation ward.
  3. Great for pushing towers/lanes.
  4. BLOCK THOSE ESCAPING ENEMY HEROES!

Poison Nova – When used correctly, this is super deadly. Try to land this in the m >

Item Overview

NOTE: The items I have listed are recommendations only! However, playing as a support you can safely purchase these as a safeguard until you learn how to better choose which items are necessary against certain heroes.

Start of the Game

If you are the main support, courier is always a must. Without a courier, YOU WILL LOSE FARM .

I purchase a Ring of Protection for the quick 2+ armor and potential to build Ring of Basilius.
Tango allows for you to heal in lane. I typically only purchase one as I have learned to play carefully with Venomancer and avoid getting hit early game.
Clarity allows for you to regen mana for multiple gales and many wards.
2x Iron Branch gives you +38 HP, +0.06 HP Regen, +2 Attack Speed, +0.28 Armor, +26 MP, and +0.08 MP Regen, which helps bolster your defenses and attacks early game and allows for the build into Magic Wand!

Early Game

Purchase Flying Courier ASAP as it will benefit your entire team!!

I usually like to build my Ring of Basilius first for the +0.65 mana regen / +2 armor aura. Dota 2 venomancer purge costume Just remember to turn it off so you do not over push your lane as the active aura spills over to your creeps.

I typically get Boots of Speed next to help with escaping and chasing enemies.
Magic Wand is next for the HP & MP replenishing property as to not waste more money on tangos, claritys, etc.
Power Treads are the best boots for Venomancer IMHO! Its versatility greatly benefits Venomancer. I recommend leaving them in Strength most of the time for the extra health. However, Agility allows for extra armor, attack speed, and damage output letting you farm faster or DPS an enemy down quicker. Enemy escaping and you are just short of a gale? Pop them into Intelligence and let it fly! Remember to use your wards effectively and block their escape route every couple seconds as well!

Mid Game

Along with Observer Wards as needed, you will probably need at least 2/3 of the mid game items I listed.

Truthfully, I really only purchase Mekansm when my team is currently losing. It’s great for the +5 armor, +5 all attributes, and +4 HP regen in a 500 radius. Mekansm’s heal is wonderful for reinvigorating your allies in/out of fights with a 250 HP heal and +2 armor bonus for yourself and allies for 25 seconds.
Eul’s Scepter is a great item as a support AND for Venomancer. The intellect and mana regen allow for more wards and gales. The movement speed gives Venomancer a better chance at escaping and for chasing enemies. Most importantly, the cyclone gives you an opportunity to remove yourself from being targeted in team fights, remove an enemy from a team fight, AND another way to slow/stop heroes from escaping alive.
Pipe of Insight is a must have for supports a lot of the time. +11 HP regen and 30% Magic Resist really helps to buff up poor Veno’s defenses! However, the real utility of this item is the AoE Shield which blocks 400 Spell Damage. It also has a 1 minute cooldown! Pipe is wonderful for team fights and as a preemptive shield when going uphill into the unknown.

Late Game

Aghanim’s Scepter. just get it. It will boost your already super power ultimate ability and give you a multitude of stats!!

Dota 2 Techies Ancients/Jungle Guide by elendilli

If you don’t want to divulge in this text a sample v >

This is a guide I planned to write since I discovered doing it in DotA 1, and here I am writing it at this very moment. This guide to jungling Techies works quite in almost every game and guarantees experience without leeching experience from a lane partner.

I’ll start with the easiest method to Jungle Techies which would be on the Dire side Ancients indicated in the image below.

I kind of fkd up with the image and forgot to number what lines do what but thegreen line (line with the arrow) indicates the pull direction for neutral creeps every minute while the blue lines indicate the general area where you can place the mines to dish out the most damage too ALL Ancient creeps at once. The next image will help you understand what I mean better.

In this image we have four ancient camp stacks, 11 mines along with a numbering system to explain what what each line indicates.

The Green Line (1) is the line that indicates the movement pattern you want the Ancient creeps to take to navigate them into the landmines. This is the most effective method to kill and heavily damage the Ancient creeps at once because they will ALLbe in the AOE to take landmine damage unlike normal pulling where they will follow behind each other, which means they won’t all take damage when you lure them straight into landmines and it would be less efficient because you would kill only a few while the others are still healthy. You may also notice that I have bought a set of tangos to clear two trees which would normally obstruct neutral creep pathing when you’re about to farm/clear them. Get rid of those two trees.

The Red ‘X’ (2) is not really important. It’s just the point where all the mines explode when Techies walks left past the ‘X’.

The Yellow lines (3) shows that all the Ancients are in the landmine explode AOE, so once I walk all the way to the left, all of the indicated neutral creeps are close enough to trigger the landmines and kill/damage all the neutral creeps at once.

You will normally always leave behind a few Ancients that need a few more mines to finish them off like in this image.

When this happens, simply finish them off with one landmine at a time.

The most efficient way to finish off remaining Ancient creeps is to simply place a landmine infront of them and attack to pull them. You do this because after you place the landmine, the mines have about

1.5-2 seconds to set off, so you have time to aggro them and avoid Ancients autoattack damage, while still dealing the maximum amount of landmine damage possible.

Now lets get more realistic. Lets say the enemy team is aware you are doing Ancients and blocks your Ancients / chooses to contest and you still want a method to get levels. Simple. Just go into your jungle and stack up jungle creeps while placing mines every second possible in the exact spot of this screenie:

In this image, there is a 3 stack of Big Jungle creeps and 6-7 landmines in one spot. The Green Line (1) is the path YOU take to navigate the neutral creeps. The Red ‘X’ (2) is the area you WAIT FOR 1-2 SECONDS to wait for the jungle creeps to come closer, then you quickly continue following the green line to go left. The yellow squiggly lines with no number (i forgot) is the same thing I displayed in the previous Ancients image where all jungle creeps should be to effectively deal the most damage.

Once again, there will probably be a few neutral creeps left like in this image

Finish them off with a single landmine and you quickly obtain level 3 / almost 4.

Now, lets assume the enemy team will definitely SENTRY your Ancients before the game begins (obs would be a waste of vision normally). Personally, I like to start with the jungling method, then switching to the Ancients method because by the time I finish farming the jungle, the sentry ward would normally time out, and I can go Ancients – if not whatever the heck you planned to do after obtaining easy levels without relying on the enemy running into your level 1 placed mines.

Lastly, I will show everyone how to do it on the Radiant side.

Radiant Ancients are terribly placed and is extremely difficult to Ancients with techies there compared to Dires. It’s almost unfair how big the Dire side Ancients area is, giving you so much more flexibility. But we have to work with what we have so:

The Green Line (1) is the path you take. The Red ‘X’ (2) is where YOU WAIT FOR 1-3 SECONDS to clump them all up, especially if they’re ranged you MUST wait otherwise they will take much less damage. and the yellow lines simply indicate the Ancients are in a good position to take efficient damage all at once.

Of course we can’t forget the Radiant Big Jungle camp.

The Red ‘X’ in the image is where you should tango down the trees. The Yellow Circle (2) is where you should place your landmines and the Green Line (no number) is the line YOU FOLLOW to navigate the neutral creeps into the landmines.

is what it looks like when they all explode.

I know my screenshots are messy (last two mostly, Lol), but I hope you got the gist of it, along with more flexibility of what you can do with techies. Last time I remember doing this in Dota 1, I had a very early Aghs sceptor with soul ring on Techies by purely doing Big camps into jungle. I believe the timing was anywhere around 12-20 minutes uncontested (again i forgot when I normally got it, but it was definitely SUPER fast than you normally would waiting for people to run over your mines while you leech exp / barely get farm in lane because 30 base damage). Again, this was in DotA 1 so I would like to leave the Aghs timings to you. Hope you learned something from my not so ‘guide’ worthy ‘guide. Thanks for reading.

Edit: sm0kie420 made a gif of how it generally works. http://gfycat. com/RequiredFrenchHydra. Techies dota 2 ancients If you’re asking why it looks like one mine its because he simply didn’t move his mouse or screen and just afk clicked one spot so it looks like there’s only one ward there. Used to be good mindgames back in DotA 1 where ‘people who could see the entire map’ would think it’s only one mine and then ‘accidentally’ walk over it and then cry ‘wtf’ followed by no response. Hehe

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention was that if you are pulling with techies do it one second earlier than you would compared to other Heroes because his attack animation travel time is quite long and slow. 51>52 – 52>53. I’ll keep adding things as I remember gradually to help everyone make the most of everything I have learned. I’ll answer any newer questions tomorrow.

In-game Guides [ edit ]

Guides (sometimes also called Hero Builds) are guides created by players, that can suggest items and highlight abilities to level. They can be created and shared by players either in-game or through the Hero Builds Editor.

“Hero Builds Editor” has been out of order, probably since 2014.

Changes [ edit ]

  • Detailed talents now show up on the Guide panel – In the Loadout / Strategy and the In-Game viewer.
  • Hero Guide Viewer now has sorting options for Your Guides and All Guides.
  • Author Name and Last Updated Time has been added to the Guide Viewer.
  • Hero Guide Viewer now also displays visual entries for Abilities and Talents.
  • Tooltip has been added to the favorite star on the Guide Viewer.
  • Fixed a couple of UI issues on the Guide Builder tool.

Dota 2 International 2015: Final Day

In yesterday’s report on The International, I said that we could only hope that the remaining teams at The International had a few tricks left up their sleeves, or the last games would be foregone conclusions. Fortunately, LGD, CDEC, and Evil Geniuses all showed up with some surprises. But nobody was as surprising as the new 2015 International champion, Evil Geniuses.

Match of the Day: EG vs. CDEC

There wasn’t a dull moment on the last day of The International. Evil Geniuses played brilliant games that showed their strengths at every aspect of the game, from hero pools for each player to drafting to farming to fighting. But it wouldn’t have been half as much fun watching them win if they hadn’t had such good opponents throughout this final day.

Yet it was the Grand Final against CDEC that drew out the best of EG. Sumail’s Storm Spirit weathered an onslaught of ganks yet somehow ended up ahead on farm anyway and left the rest of his team free to start going to work on CDEC. As EG started to hit a power-spike in the mid-game, CDEC torn to pieces. It established a problem that CDEC were never able to solve: they could either shut-down SumaiL and let Fear and UNiVeRsE start taking over the map, or they could try and contain Fear and UNiVeRsE and leave Sumail to get out of control.

A poor draft from EG in the second game let CDEC back into the series, as EG gave up Leshrac and then CDEC picked a Broodmother into Sumail’s Windranger. The mid-lane Broodmother seemed to throw EG off their game and they never really found their footing against CDEC, who took a fairly smooth win over an EG that sometimes seemed too desperate to make plays.

Yet EG refused to be afraid of Leshrac, arguably the single strongest hero in the game, and leaving him open for CDEC baited them into picking him again and again. CDEC got the hero again in Game 3, but this time EG were able to get control of themselves, start playing a little more cautiously, and start taking control of the match. They also started respecting CDEC’s use of Smoke of Deceit a bit more, and would pull back from any vulnerable locations when they realized they’d lost track of CDEC, which shut down CDEC’s ganking game and let EG regain the initiative.

With their tournament lives on the line, CDEC opted for a different kind of lineup in game 4, ditching Leshrac for a Dragon Knight… but at the cost of giving EG their dream draft. Sumail was back on Storm Spirit. UNiVeRsE had Earthshaker, and Fear had Gryrocopter, And just to make sure EG could control every engagement, ppd was on Ancient Apparition while Aui was on Naga Siren.

CDEC held their own despite the strength of EG’s lineup, yet didn’t quite give it the respect it deserved. It all led to the single greatest moment of the Grand Final, where CDEC’s International dreams slipped away in the space of a few ill-chosen seconds.

Seriously, watch that again. Don’t watch the animations, just look at the health bars for CDEC after they star that Roshan. That’s how quickly CDEC lost The International.

State of Play

1st Place: Evil Geniuses
2nd Place: CDEC Gaming
3rd Place: LGD Gaming
4th Place: Vici Gaming
5th-6th: EHOME, Virtus. pro
7th-8th: MVP Phoenix, Team Secret
9th-12th: Team Empire, Cloud9, CompLexity, Invictus
13th-16th: Newbee, Na’Vi, Fnatic, MVP Hot6ix

Talking Points

  • MMY’s Finest and Final Hour

CDEC’s last-minute annihilation in Game 4 of the final was hardly the only throw of the day. LGD’s Lei “MMY” Zengrong went from hero to zero in the space of his second game against EG. After making one of the most astonishing clutch Rubick plays of the tournament, he threw away LGD’s rally by over-pursuing EG on the back of a great team fight for LGD.

He tunnel-visioned on EG’s ppd and chased him deep into the Radiant jungle alone, where he got sniped by Aui and let EG turn the entire game as they rushed back to Dire side and killed off the rest of LGD. MMY’s over-eagerness caused a gold swing north of 10,000 by the end of the fight, and guaranteed that LGD would have to settle for third.

EG’s Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora played like a legend on this final day of The International, with some of the coldest and calmest moves of the tournament. Look at this escape from an LGD gank.

That pretty much summed up his night. He was managing every engagement down to the last microsecond and the last hitpoint.

  • Closing the Deal

A great night of Dota ended with a some regrettable moments. The Evil Geniuses team themselves, despite having given North America its biggest tournament win ever in eSports, proved to be one of the least animated and charismatic groups of people in professional gaming. It was like the booth opened and five Smokin’ Jay Cutlers stepped out.

Fear later explained that everyone was exhausted and wanted to go home, but still…

it was a huge moment that everyone wanted to share, and Evil Geniuses kind of poured cold water all over it. It’s one thing to seem overcome or speechless in the face of a huge event, but EG’s collective “meh” was utterly deflating.

An inscrutable performance from Deadmau5 didn’t help matters. No sooner had EG shrugged their way off the stage than a hyped up crowd was being treated to some of chillest house music this side of a W Hotel bar at 8 AM. Then the Canadian started playing Avicii’s “Levels” and cut the the music off mid-track, and ran from the stage flapping his arms.

It was a strange way to finish crowning a world champion.

Looking Ahead

That does it for the 2015 International and the 2014-15 Dota season that revolved around it. The next time Valve hosts one of these, it should be a new era for Dota 2. The Dota Majors series promises to reshape the Dota calendar and hopefully make it easier for casual fans to follow the game, as well as give teams more reasons to stay together between Internationals.

But more importantly, this tournament seemed to mark a changing of the guard. China, always the strongest overall region at these tournaments, had another terrific showing, but the twist was that it was the upstart CDEC team that turned in the best performance, followed by a retooled LGD squad, while many of the giants of Chinese Dota came up short.

Alliance weren’t even there. Team Secret were a bit of a disappointment despite their star lineup, Na’Vi were eliminated at the start… and in the end, it was a North American team of veterans and a star Pakistani rookie who broke China’s grip on this tournament and gave North America its greatest victory in eSports to date.

Will that change things? Will North America finally have a MOBA scene it can be proud of, and will the next year of pro Dota feature more North American teams following in EG’s footsteps, more Korean teams traveling the path that MVP blazed these last years, and a new generation of Chinese and European talent overturning the old order?

Tonight, it seems like anything is possible.

This guide will give you instructions on how to setup Open Broadcaster Software (also known as OBS) to stream to popular websites such as Twitch and JustinTV.

This guide has been created using version 0.613b of OBS. As OBS is open source the methods used in this guide are subject to change.

When you first load OBS you’ll need to configure your settings. This can be done by selecting the “Settings” button.

Once the settings window is open you’ll need to define a profile under the “General” tab. Within the settings profile box type in a name, select a language and then select “Add“.

Once you’ve created your profile select the Encoding category.

Check the “Use CBR” and “Enable CBR Padding” boxes for compatibility with popular streaming services such as Twitch. The other settings in this category will adjust the quality of your broadcast and heavily depend on the capacity of your internet connections upload speed.

If you don’t know what that is I suggest running a speed test or calling your ISP. If your upload speed is 2Mbp/s then your throughput is 2500Kb/s, you don’t want to exceed more than 70-80% of your upload throughput when streaming otherwise you’ll start to have performance problems.

Tip: If you’re unsure what values to use you can use the OBS settings estimator tool [obsproject. com] .

Once you know your upload speed enter around 70-80% of it into the “Max Bitrate (kb/s)” and “Buffer Size (kbit)” field. Advanced users can set the buffer size higher, but it’s not necessary in most situations.

Beneath the “Audio Encoding” section leave the codec set to AAC with a bitrate of 128. if your internet connection is above average this can be set to 192 for better audio quality.

Next you’ll need to select the “Video” category. Your base resolution should default to that of your monitors, this value is so you can setup your sources. The “Resolution Downsize” setting is what will be broadcasted to the streaming service, the lower the resolution the less bandwidth and processing power will be consumed.

Tip: Run the OBS setting estimator [obsproject. com] to see what the FPS and resolution downsize value should be set to.

You’ll then need to setup your audio settings by selecting the “Audio” category. This is where you’ll assign your audio devices for your sound and microphone. There are multiple options in this category that allow you to assign audio related hotkeys such as push-to-talk.

Tip: You can find more microphone options within the “Microphone Noise Gate” category.

Additional settings for experienced users can be found within the Advanced category.

Once you’ve configured OBS you’ll need to setup up content sources. Right click within the box labelled “Scenes” and select “Add Scene“. You’re able to create multiple scenes to switch between during your broadcast.

Each scene you create needs to have a name associated with it. You can switch between the active scene by selecting the name from the “Scenes” list.

Once created select it from the “Scenes” list and then right click within the box labelled “Sources“. The dropdown menu gives you several options to choose from. The most commonly used one for streaming gaming content is “Game Capture“. You’re able to add multiple sources into a single scene, for example you can have game footage and a webcam layered over the top.

If your game is open when you select “Game Capture” it will appear on the list of available applications. In my example I’ve got Dota 2 running in the background. Certain titles may require you to run OBS as an administrator to capture.

Once the source has been created you can test to see if it works by selecting the “Preview Stream” button. This will display what viewers will see when you start streaming.

Sources are layered based on their order on the list. You can move a source to appear above or below another by right clicking on its name and using the “Order” menu.

You can also adjust the position and size of each source. For example if you add an image or text you can right click on its name and change its position and size on the stream using the “Position/Size” menu.

Play around and see what you can come up with by creating multiple scenes and sources. Streamers typically create scenes for game capture and others for their intermission, intro and outro.

Within the OBS settings select the “Broadcast Settings” category. Change the broadcast mode to “Live Stream” and select the website you’ll be streaming to from the “Streaming Service” drop down menu.

Most services require something called a Stream Key. This is a unique key which grants streaming access to your account. For instructions on how to find your stream key refer to the account settings of your service of choice.

Once you’ve entered your broadcast settings you can begin your stream by selecting the “Start Streaming” button.

Once your stream has begun you can select “Stop Streaming” to end it.

How to increase FPS in Dota 2: v > Articles Vincenzo “Skulz” Milella May 17, 2019 Guides, Settings Comment

The video settings and launch options of Dota 2 can be optimized to increase your FPS and improve your gameplay.

On the web, you can find several configuration files to replace yours and boost the fps. Honestly, I don’t like this approach because I want to know exactly what I am changing, so I decided to review all the options in this article.

These adjustments are useful if you are struggling to reach an acceptable amount of fps as you are using a low-spec PC, but also if you have a monitor with a high refresh-rate as you bought it to gain an edge in a competitive game such as Dota 2.

In-game settings

Launch Dota 2, click the Settings icon on the top left, and open the Video tab. I will show you how to set up each option for maximum performance.

Resolution

Use my monitor’s current resolution: off.

I suggest using the advanced settings, but in some cases this option is helpful to solve bugs.

For example, I am currently using a 34 inches ultrawide monitor: the game doesn’t offer a 21:9 aspect ratio in the advanced settings, and my display resolution isn’t listed either.

In order to play Dota 2 with my monitor, I must select “Use my monitor’s current resolution” and also indicate my exact resolution (2560×1080) in the launch options with the following command: -w 2560 – h 1080.

Note: I didn’t have this issue in the past as my monitor resolution appeared correctly under “Size”.

Use advanced settings: on.

Aspect Ratio: use your native one.

It depends on your display, but nowadays the great majority of the monitors have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Size: use your native resolution.

Using your native resolution is desirable for a better view, but if you badly need a performance boost, decreasing the resolution will greatly improve your fps. 720p is usually a solid compromise between quality and performance.

Display Mode: Full Screen.

Full Screen is the best choice performance-wise, but you might prefer Borderless Window if you have a multi-monitor setup and you wish to move quickly on another display.

Note: you can switch from Full Screen to Borderless Window by pressing Alt+Enter on the keyboard.

Options

Rendering API: DX11.

The available options are DX9, DX11, Vulkan, and OpenGL.

DX11 provides the best performance on most modern systems, but I recommend trying also DX9 on yours as the results may be different.

Vulkan is only slightly behind DX11. I believe this API might become the superior choice in the future as Valve drastically improved it in the past years.

OpenGL is the worst option. Do not use it.

Rendering

Use basic settings: off.

This slider is the simplest solution to tune down the graphic if you don’t know what are you doing, but I prefer selecting individually each option.

Here are two comparative images with the slider set to Fastest and Best Looking.

The Most Picked Heroes in Competitive Dota2

With TI5 just months away, professional Dota 2 teams are busy getting their act together. Based on the current Meta, almost every top professional team favors the hero supported by the patch.

According to the latest stats, there are some heroes that are being favored over others. We have compiled a list of five heroes who are making waves in competitive Dota 2 world.

Shadow Fiend

First stop is the SwagFiend; a hero that was commonly picked in pubs and competitive Dota 2. After thepatch update when several of the core heroes have been nerfed, teams are now drafting early pick lineups and this can be clearly observed with game mostly ending before the 30 minute mark. However, among these early pick strategies, Shadow Fiend has remaining in the minds of many teams which tend to revolve their strategies around this hero.

SF currently has a very high pick or ban ratio with a recent rise in the hero’s pick rate as well as the overall win rate in competitive as well as Pub matches

IO

A Rat Dota legend of the past has started to pick up pace by flexing his muscles in past competitive matches. IO is also being paired with other heroes by teams who hope that they could come up with a magical combination for future tournaments. This time around, IO is not being paired with any hard carry and this makes him more than just a teleportation toy for the stone guy. Now, IO works magic with Troll, Bristleback, Chaos Knight, Storm Spirit, Juggernaut and almost any eminent hero one might think of.

IO has a 62% win ratio in competitive matches even after the release of patch 6.84. Besides having a 90% Pick-Ban ratio, IO is also the hero who has been banned more times than he was picked. Maybe IO needs a model rework more than this guy.

Bat Rider

The Dota 2 Rodeo has been a huge hit for quite some time now. He knows all the right spots, and that makes him one of the favorite heroes in competitive Dota 2. Bat Rider is one of the best heroes who can easily create 5v4 situations in no time. With team EG currently having the record for the fastest blink on Bat Rider in competitive matches, he is a hero that can be a game changer in almost any situation.

And that’s why he is feared. Bat Rider has somewhat of a normal 50% win rate and a 97% pick or ban ratio. This cowboy also has something more under his belt. He was banned twice the times he was picked in competitive matches. Perhaps, everyone fears this Batman.

Troll Warlord

A forgotten hero has started to pick up his pace in recent times, reserving a place for himself in the list of top five most favorite heroes in competitive Dota 2. Troll is considered a hero now that can literally man-handle an entire team if given the space to farm. Even with minimal tools commonly seen in professional matches, Troll Warlord can outrun almost any carry. However, ever since the patch update of 6.84, Troll has got a slight decrease in its pick rate based over the nerfs the hero received in the patch.

Troll currently sits on a 55 % win rate. He too has been banned more in competitive matches than picked. A hero that can easily snowball in the right circumstances, Troll Warlord is simply a troll at its best.

Bristleback

Bristleback has been a hero with a 60% win rate, especially if the guy is picked up as radiant. Bristleback has really been helpful in the snowball effect of the current Meta which allows him to find a farm at the right place at the same time creating enough space for the carry to farm. With just another roaming support to his back (more recently IO is the most common pick with the hero), Bristleback can devastate entire teams by catching them at a wrong spot. Bristleback was either picked or banned 90% of the times in competitive matches; winning 70% of the total matches he was picked.

Now what Icefrog has in mind for the heroes that are mostly picked by professional teams? Apart from anything else, one thing is clear that whatever impact these heroes have on the current Meta would greatly tell the story of what they can make in TI5.

When comparing Dota 2 vs Heroes of Newerth, the Slant community recommends Dota 2 for most people. In the question“What are the best MOBA games for PC?” Dota 2 is ranked 2nd while Heroes of Newerth is ranked 6th. The most important reason people chose Dota 2 is:

Microtransactions involve only cosmetic items such as custom weapon designs or clothing colors and tickets to view live events.

Microtransactions involve only cosmetic items such as custom weapon designs or clothing colors and tickets to view live events.

You don’t need to unlock or purchase characters.

Available on Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Dota 2 has one of the most active professional scenes in eSports today. If it’s not the most active, it’s certainly got the largest prize pools, coming in at over $20 million in 2016.

For players who put the time into Dota 2 to get past the early beginner phase, Dota 2 can become an extremely satisfying game. There’s a reason it’s one of the most popular eSports titles in the world. The amount of strategy, skill, and variables involved make it a very deep game where anything could happen.

This game has a steep learning curve, but it’s well worth it. The games that came after Dota like League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Smite, and other lookalikes don’t even compare to the complexity of Dota 2.

Every hero is unique and valuable in one team composition or another. The amount of versatility of each hero is amazing as well. The mechanics by far destroy any other Dota style game (MOBA) and that’s what makes this game top tier in its genre. This game is the highest grossing eSport game in the world and will probably continue to be for a long time.

Dota 2 includes Workshop Tools that allow users to create custom games as well as other play them.

Gameplay is balanced in the sense that while other MOBAs would have only around 30-60 viable picks for the competitive scene, Dota 2 has heroes and strategies in the game that are more varied, which enables more heroes to be picked in the competitive scene.

Number of Heroes Picked in Dota 2’s Recent Major Tournament in the past 4 months (as of July 2016) is 86/111 heroes picked and 100 out of 111 heroes picked.

To compare between Dota 2 and LoL pick diversity, LoL has 64 out of 131 champions picked for LCS.

There are also factors such as the ban/pick phase difference and the more rigid positions in LoL that may limit the viability for different playstyles and hero picks (typically it is 2 (AD, Support Bot) -1 (AP mid) -1 (Tank Off) – 1 (Jungler), with a possibility of double junglers in LoL).

On the other hand in Dota 2, there are a lot more different positions compared to Lol/Smite such as Duo Mid (1-2-2), Traditional (2-1-2), One Jungler (1-2-1-1, most similar to league), One Roamer (1-2-1-1 as well with the difference being the hero roams the map for kills to create space for the mid and safelane rather than farm the jungle which can weaken a lane), Duo Roamer (1-1-1-2, all lanes are weaker in lane presence with the tradeoff being they get solo experience with two aggressive supports roaming), Trilane (1-1-3, Aggressive or Passive Trilane) and Abandoned Offlane (0-1-3-1 where the offlane is completely left empty due to a strong duo or trilane on the opposing team).

More heroes are viable and balanced in Dota 2 partly due to the greater flexibility in laning. This can be attributed the mechanics such as creep pulling and creep stacking which allows the team doing trilane to make up for the shared experience between three heroes. Besides that, the existence of teleport scrolls that allow you to defend your towers or punish a tower dive also allows you to react and assist other lanes.

In pub games, any hero/lane/lineup can work, and it is more about your individual mechanical skills (understanding of hero, combo execution, map awareness, last hitting, timings, item builds, flow) over the lack of coordination and teamwork (on both teams).

DoTA 2 Skins and Cosmetic Items Explained

What are Dota2 skins and how do they improve your gaming experience? Where can you find great Dota2 skins? How much do they cost?

As a regular Dota 2 player, you’re probably up to date with what skins are, what they are used for, and what they can do during the game. But if you are just getting started with Dota 2, or you simply want to find out more about Dota 2 skins, then this article is definitely for you.

Items versus Skins

Just like Counter Strike, Team Fortress, or Warframe, you can also purchase items and skins for Dota 2.

There are 2 types of items: cosmetic items and power boosting items. Skins are part of the first category, as they have a purely visually enhancing role; skins do not affect the abilities and powers of Heroes.

Did you know? Contributions to Dota 2’s development consistently come from sources outside the main development team.

What are power boosting items? They give Heroes enhanced abilities and functions so they can perform better during a battle. Power/Ability enhancing items are not tied to a particular Hero, therefore you must pay increased attention when choosing your items. Some items won’t work on some Heroes, while other items can be combined for improved results. In short, these items provide additional benefits to Heroes that the leveling up process cannot.

Tip: A Hero can have a maximum of 6 items in his Inventory, and a maximum of 6 items in his Stash. If you get more items, they will be automatically dropped in the fountain.

Dota 2 Skins You Can’t Miss

There are a lot of skins to choose from in Dota 2. This is part of the game’s charm, and a lot of players go above and beyond to personalize their Dota 2 experience. Skins don’t interfere with the mechanics of the game, they are purely decorative.

Did you know? You can buy user-created skins in the Steam Workshop. They are only put out for sale if they have been approved by Valve.

1. Equipment Skins

This skins type is used to change the way a Hero looks, from their clothes to the way their weapons are designed. While these skins do not alter the Heroes’ powers, they can definitely give your hero a fiercer look.

You can choose from:

Cosmetic Items by Hero. Click on the image to enlarge.

2. Couriers

As the name suggests, the Couriers are items that take the form of a donkey / flying donkey. Their main responsibility is to carry your items to and from your base. Animal Couriers and Flying Couriers are considered Consumable Items.

You can also customize your courier in the loadout screen. You can equip the Couriers with specific visual elements. Once again, these elements do not influence the way the Courier performs. However, there are some Unusual Couriers which come with a special effect. The effect can be either Ethereal Gem or Prismatic Gem.

Custom Couriers are classified in 5 categories: Rare, Mythical, Legendary, Immortal, Ancient.

3. Announcers

This collection of cosmetic items is a bit different, because it does not change the way a Hero or a player looks. What it does is it changes the voice of the Announcer with explosive commentaries, unruly humor, or a drunken Pirate Captain. There are a lot of Announcers items to choose from – can you decide which voice is your favourite?

4. Custom Wards

Are you getting bored with the way your wards look? With Custom Wards you can change the appearance of your Observer Wards and Sentry Wards.

Did you know? Items such as skins are the main source of income for Dota2. Creators selling their items on the Steam Market receive a percentage of sales. In 2013 the income for an average contributor was $15k per year.

5. HUD Skins

This skins category is a bit special, as it allows you to change how the heads up display looks. What’s even better about this skins category is that it can be equipped by other players in the same match.

There are more DoTA 2 skins that invite you to fully personalise your gaming experience:

  • Music
  • Emoticons
  • Mouse cursors
  • Weather effects
  • Blink effects
  • Teleport effects
  • Custom base items
  • Taunta
  • Multikill banners

Skin Categories: Rarity & Quality

Items and skins in Dota2 are usually categorized into Rarity. The rarer the item, the more valuable it is. Some players spend a lot of money on their items; there are even Dota 2 skins that cost a big-ticket. Depending on their rarity, items are classified as:

Did you know? Initially, DoTA was used as an acronym from Defense of The Ancients. Multiple versions of the same game were produced, but Dota Allstars was the most popular Dota version. Dota Allstars was the game that inspired the development of Dota 2.

When discussing the Quality of an item or a Dota2 skin, there are 4 categories it can fall into. Normal items are the most widespread, while genuine items are… well, highest in QUALITY. The 4 Quality types are:

Quality can be altered by Gems.

Did you know? DoTA emerged in 2003, and Dota 2 was officially released in 2013. The creator of the most popular version of DoTA retired in 2005, only 2 years after the game’s launch. By 2008, DoTA was already one of the most prominent electronic sports titles.

What is the Steam Market?

A concept for DoTA2 Skins. You can find more skins on the Steam Market.

As mentioned before, you can buy and sell skins and items forDota 2 in the Steam Market. The Steam Market also commercializes items for Counter Strike, Primal Carnage, Warframe, Team Fortress, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, Robot Roller, and more. The Dota2 skins you purchase from Store. SteamPowered. com cannot be re-sold earlier than 1 week from the moment of the purchase.

When you make your first purchase in the market you will pay real money. After that, as you earn more money, you will be allowed to use it to purchase other items or skins. You cannot withdraw your money to your card or use it in any way other than buying and selling on the Steam Market.

This is one great drawback of the Steam Market system, because the money you earn stays on the website, whether you are an Items Creator or an Items Buyer.

What are your solutions for solving this problem on Steam Market? Do you think that a new payment system that allows withdrawals to PayPal (for example) would be a good idea? Why / why not?

Just leave your comments below and let’s see how we can change it together!
