Biography [ edit ]

w33’s was born and raised in Romania with a Syrian father. Apart from Romanian, w33 is proficient in both English and Arabic. He began playing DotA in 2004, switching over to Dota 2 in 2011. Prior to pursuing a professional DotA career, w33 studied chemical engineering at university.

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Over time, w33 grew into a well-known pubstar. He obtained the highest MMR of any player for a significant amount of time, even becoming the first player to breach 8000 MMR. His first team was Balkan Bears, a team that he built with friends and other high-level players. Although the team failed to achieve good tournament results, w33 was able to showcase his exceptional ability at playing solo mid, going toe to toe with some of the top-tier mids. w33 became particularly known for his ability to play Meepo, who was considered a niche and unconventional pick.

After Balkan Bears disbanded, w33 was invited to join the team MeePwn’d alongside veteran players such as H4nn1 and pieliedie. However, the team did not manage to produce any significant results and disbanded two months after formation. However, w33 did not remain teamless for long, as he quickly returned to Balkan Bears. Two months later, w33 was offered to join 4 Clover & Lepricon with veterans such as Pajkatt and EGM. This time w33’s team managed to produce some results, winning minor tournaments such as GIGABYTE Challenge #15 and MSI Dragon Battle 6. Three months later, w33 was invited by Puppey to be a part of a rebuilt Team Secret alongside EternaLEnVy, MiSeRy and pieliedie.

During his time at Team Secret, w33 had large amounts of success. Much of this success came from w33’s solo mid play on Windranger, Invoker, and Meepo. Team Secret won multiple premier-level LAN events such as the MLG World Finals and the Nanyang Dota 2 Championships. Although they were among the best teams in the world in terms of tournament performance at the time, they were upset in the first Dota 2 Major, the Frankfurt Major by OG, ending up in second place. After the major, Team Secret looked shaky but nevertheless continued onto the next major with the same roster, the Shanghai Major, which they won handily. Despite w33’s solid solo mid performances during his time on the team, he was removed from the team in the post-Shanghai Major reshuffle.

With not much time remaining before the next major’s roster lock, w33 was cons >[1] He believed that as underdogs, the pressure and expectation would be less and he would perform better. After an eventful series, he finished runners-up in the tournament, losing to Wings Gaming 3-1 in the grand finals.

Following the International, w33 and his team sustained mixed success into the new year; victorious in ESL One Genting 2017 but several underperformances during the competitive season led to the departure of the team, and reformation to Thunderbirds. The reformation was short-lived and w33 spent a year playing for various European teams, later flying to Brazil to play for PaiN Gaming in April 2018. [2]

Difference Between TCP and UDP

Main Difference

The terms used on the internet are very complicated and can confuse the best of minds. Because of the technical language always being used it is not easy to decipher the exact meaning of everything, therefore, most people make their own mind up about a specific definition of a word and then use it accordingly. Two such terms which are generally used without knowing their exact meaning are TCP and UDP. How they differ from each other is explained in the lines that will follow. Internet protocol is the group of regulations which exist to work on the internet or any network and is used for sharing data. Dota 2 udp tcp difference These two terms are two different ways of transmitting this data. Dota 2 udp tcp difference One is known as Transmission Control Protocol while the other is called User Datagram Protocol. The main difference between these two is that TCP uses connections to send and receive data over the internet while UDP does not require connections to send data. Dota 2 udp tcp difference In TCP data is sent over the network quickly but in UDP data is sent in different segments. Information is sent and obtained from various computers in transmission control protocol but in universal datagram protocol, the information is sent over the network and their communication ends. It can be concurred from this that TCP is safer as compared to UDP. Most websites which have to carry a bundle of material from one place to another rely more on TCP because of the safety factor while most applications and games which need data to be sent efficiently use UDP because of its direct function. Therefore, it can be accessed that most websites prefer transmission control protocol, but most applications and games prefer user datagram protocol. For sending data, TCP inherits it in the form of bytes which are sent over the network without any characterization of their types and are considered as one entity. UDP send different packages which are checked along with their boundaries, and the original information is transmitted across the network. Data is arranged in a specific order and requires the different packet to create a connection while UDP does not organize information hence there are no packages needed. It can, therefore, be said that TCP is heavier than UDP. Another explanation of both these networks is given below.

Comparison Chart

TCP UDP
Full Name Transmission control protocol User datagram protocol
Data Data can be sent and received Data can only be transmitted
Options Arrangement flow control and acknowledgment None
Trustworthy It can be assured that data will be received It cannot be assured that data will be received

What is TCP?

It stands for transmission control protocol which is a way of sending and receiving data over the internet. TCP has many features which make is favorable for websites who want to share and obtain information at the same time. It is connection based where the material is sent in the form of streams and received by the other computers which result in the creation of a link. It is reliable, and all the information which is moved from one place is guaranteed to reach the other place in the particular order which they were sent. This order is maintained because of three packets present which ensure the exact numbering of data sent, which makes TCP heavier in comparison. There is flow control, and acknowledgment is sent whenever all the information completes its transaction. If the data is not sent, the transmission control protocol will try to send it again until it is delivered. All these features make it the most common protocol available.

What is UDP?

It is known as user datagram protocol and in some cases, it is also called universal datagram protocol. It is more often used by applications and games which require that the data is sent quickly and in bulks. There is no connection among the networks because there is no requirement of the information needed back. The material is directed in the form of messages, and there is no maintenance of order, this results because UDP does not make use of packets which maintain the sequence and therefore is lighter in weight. There is also no assurance that the information which is sent, has been received because it does not provide the acknowledgment feature. The flow maintenance feature also lacks. It also aids in features such as video streaming and voice recording, and once the data is sent in the form of different segments, there is no re-sending if the data is no delivered.

Differences in a Nutshell

  1. TCP is known as transmission control protocol while UDP is known as user datagram protocol.
  2. TCP depends on connections while there are no connections in UDP.
  3. Data can be sent and received in TCP, but data can only be transmitted in UDP.
  4. TCP is heavier because it uses packets to establish connections but UDP does not need any containers for this purpose and is light weight.
  5. TCP is reliable for the transferring of data while UDP is less reliable.
  6. There is arrangement flow control and acknowledgment in TCP, but these three options are not available in UDP.
  7. TCP is used more by different websites while UDP is preferred by apps and games.
  8. TCP sends material in the form of streams which do not have any structure while UDP sends data in the form of messages.
  9. Overhead is added to the network in TCP while no overhead is added in the UDP.
  10. It can be assured that data will be received in TCP while there are no assurances if the data will reach the other s >

Comparison V >

Conclusion

TCP and UDP are two terms which belong to the same family but are very different from each other. There are many differences between them which have been mentioned above that help in creating a clear understanding of how they differ and then help people how they are working and what exactly goes on between them.

What Are Dota 2 Player Cards? A Noob Gu >

If you are a Dota 2 player who like to buy skins and spend money on the game. Then you definitely must have purchased The International Compendium, which releases every year. The Internation is the most exciting period of the year for the game as well as for fans. If you are a person who does not care about your Battle pass level, or you are satisfied with your Battle pass level then you might want to stop right here and close the browser tab. I’m just kidding, you can read this if you like. I will write about the details of the Dota 2 Player Cards which are a part of The International 2018 Compendium. Bear with me with the long article.

Dota 2 Player Cards A Brief Introduction

Dota 2 Player Cards were introduced in The International 2014 Compendium. Initially, the card pack contained 10 random player cards of the teams competing in The International 2014. Cards could be collected to earn points for. Collecting all cards for any given team will reward certain for that team. I will tell you what points though.

Through the years the player cards were changed and now since the release of The International 2018 Compendium each Battle pass owner is awarded players cards. Instead of 10 like in TI4 Compendium, you are given 5 random cards of the 18 total team competing in The International 2018.

Dota 2 Player Cards Details

Now let me tell you in detail what these points are and how can you gain maximum points out of the player cards. If you have not opened a single pack first open these. You can open the player cards in the Compendium tab of Battle pass. Click the Battle pass tab on the main screen of Dota 2.

After that click Player Cards and by the way the prize pool is huge!

Then, you have to open the Player Cards if you have premium pack open that too. I have already opened mine so, don’t mind it.

After that, you have to look at the duplicates. Normal player cards pack will have 4 green cards and 1 rare silver or gold card. Premium player card pack, however, contains the rare Notice that there are 3 types of cards, Green, Silver, and Gold.

You have to prioritize golden cards, then comes silver and then green.

After opening every pack now you have to look for recycles. If you have 2 or more similar green cards of the same player you can recycle any card you like. But if you got a golden or silver card of the same player you do not need the green card or cards.

Similarly, If you have a golden card of the same player. You can either keep it or recycle it depending upon the statistics the card has.

If you have duplicates of a core player. Then you have to look at the statistics of the card. Like here is a silver card of Xxs who is a core player for Invictus Gaming. Now looking at the card it has GPM (Gold Per Minute), Obs Wards Planted and Camps stacked. Since he is a core player so the Obs. Wards Planted and Camps Stacked is useless. If I have other cards which have good statistics like, GPM, Creep Score, Kills etc I would keep that card and recycle this silver card. Do you get my point?

You have to see the same things for Golden cards.

Things To Look For A Core Player Card

You basically want the following things in the statistics for a core player. If you are missing most of the things in the below list then you do not need that card at all. Recycle that!

  • GPM (Best for Mid or position 2 players)
  • Creep Score [or Last Hits. Both are same things] (Best for position 1 player)
  • First Blood (Best for Position 1 players)
  • Deaths (Best for Position 1 players)
  • Kills (Best for Mid or position 2 players)
  • Team Fights (Best for Position 1 player)
  • Tower Kills (Best for position 3 players)
  • Roshan Kills (Best for position 1 players)

If you have most of the above things in the stats of your card keep it. It will bring you a lot of points

Things To Look For A Support Player Card

Similarly, for a support player, you want to have these stats in your cards

  • Team Fights (Best for position 4 players)
  • Obs. Wards Planted (Best for position 5 players)
  • Runes Grabbed (Best fo position 4 players)

1 more thing to keep in mind that the percentage right beside the statistics. If you have mixed statistics for any player then you have to look for the percentages if they have percentages lower than other stats like for a core card if it has a high percentage of runes grabbed than creep score then the card is pretty much useless.

You might be wondering why do I am focusing too much on recycling. Yes, a good question indeed. Well,

Recycling will help you gather dusts.

  • 10 card dusts can be exchanged for another card pack.
  • 30 card dusts can be exchanged for a specific player card.
  • Duplicate cards can be recycled for 1 – 5 card dusts each, depending on rarity.
    • Green card – 1 dust
    • Silver card – 2 dusts
    • Gold card – 5 dusts

Rewards Of Using Player Cards

Collecting all cards for a specific team will unlock a custom teleport effect based on that team’s logo. Collecting all silver and gold cards will unlock upgraded teleport effects. And you can use sprays of your favorite team. Favorite team is basically having cards of all players.

As you can see the sprays and other cool stuff regarding Favorite Team.

How To Use Player Cards For Maximum Fantasy Points?

The main use of player cards is to get fantasy points by setting a fantasy roster. Fantasy Team is a feature that lets players create their own team of professional players within Dota 2 Batlle pass, and compete with other players in the league based on points earned by their team. Points are earned whenever a professional player participates in any Tournament match.

In short, you have to use your best card in a fantasy Dota 2 roster which will earn you points depending on the performance of the player earning you points.

The group stage will start in about a week and the schedule will be available 1 or 2 days before the group stage.

Now the most important thing to look for is that you have to see the schedule and look for the matches of the team whose cards you have. You have to select different cards for cores and supports. You will have to choose the best players or the players who stood out the most in the cards that you have. For example Liquid. Miracle – for core etcetera. Dota 2 2014 compendium of the social doctrine You know that these players will perform good no matter what this will get you the points. Of course, golden cards will give you the most of the points.

You have to set your fantasy roster every day until finals. After that, if you manage to get some good points you will get free Battle Pass levels and that concludes my guide for maximum points.

If you have any question or anything you didn’t understand in the above guide feel free to let me know in the comments.

History

DK was set up in 2010 with a roster including Chinese rising stars rOtk, Yueru and LaNm, participating in WDC and SMM that year, they did not achieve much results. DK started the great Chinese reshuffle in 2011 when they offered cash to BurNIng and KingJ of EHOME, while obtaining Nirvana’s PIS and LGD’s Sharingan later on. Undoubtedly the “Galacticos” of the DotA scene, DK failed to live up to expectations. Ksssssss, the only remaining member of the original team, was replaced by the returning rOtk from Tyloo later on. Continuous sub-par performances led to PIS’ retirement, KingJ’s transfer to Nirvana and Sharingan’s move to PanDa. Rising stars dota 2 team DK’s captain, BurNIng, immediately called upon old teammate and friend LongDD alongside Zippo and Yueru. DK had suddenly become a strong team after these replacements. First winning the ACG Chinese qualifier, DK continued to roll on winning 7 tournaments to date including the highly touted World DotA Championship and G-League’s Season 2. However, they only achieved a top 8 finish in SMM 2011 after getting knocked out by LGD.

In March 2012, DK began playing Dota 2. They were the first team to announce their invitation to The International 2012.

In October 2012, Dai and QQQ from EHOME joined, replacing LongDD and Zippo.

In August 2013, rOtk and Super! were removed from the team. [1] [2] Soon after, Dai and QQQ were also removed. [3] [4]

In September 2013, DK announced the pickup of LaNm, Mushi and iceiceice. Dai was also confirmed to be staying on the team. [5] [6] [7]

In July 2014, after The International 2014, LaNm announced his retirement from Dota 2. [8]

In August 2014, Burning announced his retirement. Shortly afterwards, iceiceice, Mushi and MMY left DK. [9] [10]

In September 2014, DK announces their new Dota 2 squad. [11]

Ulfsaar, the Ursa Warrior (or simply Ursa), is a melee agility hero whose abilities’ main focus is the increase of attack damage, allowing for some of the most impressive sustained damage in the entire game.

He specializes in increasing damage against one target. His abilities allow him to attack with almost maximum speed and gain bonus damage with each consecutive hit on a single target. With the abilities Overpower and Fury Swipes, Ursa can often savage beefy targets for as much as 700 damage per hit. He is a ferocious jungler and straightforward attacker, able to solo even Roshan at low levels if he has lifesteal. Ursa is a carry who can snowball if he is farmed, but the array of anti-melee abilities existing even by the early game and his lack of any counterspells may cripple his potential, especially as strong nukers and heroes with the ability to evade him make him a hero reliant on spellcasters on his team. Although an agility hero, Ursa’s base strength and strength gain make him very durable.

Abilities [ edit ]

  • Earthshock first applies the debuff, then the damage.
  • Earthshock causes you to jump forward 250 units and slam the ground.
  • Does not guarantee full attack speed. The provided attack speed can be negated by strong attack speed slows.
  • An attack charge is lost whenever an attack is executed, regardless of outcome. This means missed attacks use up charges as well.
  • The number of charges left is visible on the buff icon.
  • Successive casts do not stack, but refresh the whole amount of charges instead.
  • On each attack Fury Swipes first adds 1 stack and then deals damage based on the stack count.
    • This means that the bonus damage is applied even with the first attack.
  • The bonus damage is dealt in one instance together with the attack damage, and counts as attack damage as well.
    • It can be lifestealed off of and cleave, but it is not cons >Roshan .
    • Enrage interrupts Ursa’s channeling spells upon cast.
    • Applies a strong dispel on Ursa upon cast.
    • The 80% damage reduction reduces all 3 damage types.
    • Does not reduce damage from abilities that do HP removal.
    • Attacks during Enrage still add only 1 stack. Enrage merely multiplies the damage values of Fury Swipes by 1.4/1.7/2.
    • When upgraded, Enrage can be cast while stunned, cycloned, slept, taunted, h >Aeon Disk . Enrage takes full priority.

    • Tango prov >Iron Branches can be used to make a Magic Wand and provide cheap, efficient attributes for the early game.
    • Boots of Speed are essential for most heroes but particularly Ursa as it allows him to chase down enemies to get into Earthshock range, as well as reducing down-time while jungling.
    • Magic Stick combines with earlier Iron Branches to make a Magic Wand .
    • Wind Lace if the enemy laner has more movement speed than Ursa, this gives him enough movement speed to continue chasing them down.
    • Ring of Basilius is a useful item to keep Ursa’s mana issues at bay. It can also be built into a Vladmir’s Offering , which is definitely a viable option for Ursa. Dota 2 ursa and team players
    • Orb of Venom puts another slow in Ursa’s arsenal, giving more chasing power.
    • Morbid Mask naturally synergizes well with Ursa’s high physical damage, greatly increasing his staying power on the map. It also gives him a tool to take on Roshan.
    • Phase Boots prov >Magic Wand may be useful to supplement Ursa’s poor mana pool and save him from bad situations.
    • Vladmir’s Offering or other sources of lifesteal are key to Ursa’s success and his workings as a hero. Lifesteal allows him to take Roshan with ease and keep his current health high. Also lifesteal work with Fury Swipes, so Ursa can devastate any enemy by leeching a lot of health when some Fury Swipes are already placed.
    • Blink Dagger is used for picking off heroes or initiating fights as it gives Ursa the option to pounce on an enemy hero with Earthshock and rap >Black King Bar protects Ursa against disables, so he can keep hitting the enemies at close range.
    • Abyssal Blade ‘s stun is useful for locking down slippery carries. The bash also synergizes well with Overpower as it gives Ursa high attack speed for more chance to proc.
    • Nullifier applies mute, dispel, and movement speed slow so enemies will have trouble escaping Ursa. Dota 2 ursa and team players
    • Aghanim’s Scepter allows Ursa not only to use Enrage more often, but also to use it when he is disabled, very useful against repetitive stuns, though it cannot be cast during Duel or when silenced.
    • Heart of Tarrasque is the best health item for slot-efficiency, prov >Linken’s Sphere is a great item against Disarm and Silence and other heroes possessing powerful single-target spells. It should be bought if Black King Bar cannot stop the enemy from locking you down.
    • Blade Mail can be cons >Heart of Tarrasque , Satanic , or Eye of Skadi on Ursa ensure he has the HP to survive the fight and deal the Blade Mail damage.
    • Sange and Yasha prov >Heaven’s Halberd and Manta Style later in the game to prov >Boots of Travel makes Ursa very mobile and allows him to defend his base or push enemy towers.
    • Desolator is a decent item for if your team is mostly based on physical damage. Cons >Scythe of Vyse is a situational disable that transforms enemy into a harmless critter. Can be useful against heroes that can dispel the Abyssal Blade, and prov >Gameplay [ edit ]

Dota 2 Benchmarks

Die gesamte Sequenz dauert also knapp 70 Sekunden.

»Off«-Schalter.

Dota 2 newcomer stream returns to megabucks tourney

24th July 2017 / 1:58PM

With mega Dota 2 [official site] competition The International 2017 on the esports horizon, Valve have gone into more detail about what fans can expect from the tournament. There’s a new host in the form of Sean “Day9” Plott (you might know him from his work in the pro StarCraft scene, the Hearthstone scene, or the pro Dota 2 scene, or for hosting cheery fanzine PC Gamer’s E3 event) some scheduling details and HOLLER TO ALL OF YOU WHO WANTED IT BACK because the newcomer stream is happening again. It sounds like it’s not taking on the 2014 form of talking players through every match from first principles. I think that was genuinely stressful for the casters because it was the same info every time and with Dota that makes you’re explaining lanes and creeps for half an hour and not actually able to even discuss what’s on the screen right now properly.

“Once the event begins, you can help any friends interested in learning more about Dota by sending them to the Newcomer Stream, which features the main broadcast enhanced with contextual overlays that call out information helpful for understanding the intricate world of Dota during the most exciting time of the competitive season.”

At the risk of sending you away from RPS (so only click this if you promise to come back) I spoke about newcomer streams and the general accessibilty/lack thereof of esports broadcasting on the Crate and Crowbar podcast. It’s from about the 101 minute mark and (together with Tom Senior of PCG and Chris Thursten formerly of PCG) covers off some of the problems both in terms of assessing what a viewer even knows at a given time and how explaining a MOBA hamstrings you in terms of how fast you can get anyone up to speed and start talking about the game. We also talked through a few potential solutions.

I think one of the MOBAs did this overlay thing in a previous year, having a map you could hover your mouse over in order to find out what a fountain was or a tower or a creep. I want to say it was Dota. Dota 2 newbie stream ti503sv Was it Dota? HIVEMIND, HELP A FRIEND OUT HERE!

I’ll be interested to see how in-depth the information on this year’s overlay gets and how non-players actually fare with it. I think I’d ideally pair it with a newcomer stream in terms of casters explaining why particular heroes synergise or breaking down team fights in slow mo during the lull after the action. In that scenario the overlay would do the heavy lifting of “what even is game?” and then the casters would go a tier up explaining how to piece the elements together and how to read the rhythm of the game.

I don’t have evidence for this but I’d assume Dota 2 – specifically The International – gets more drive-by traffic from curious folk outside MOBAs or outside esports because the prize pools are so big it makes the mainstream media as a curio. League of Legends is slightly different in that its huge player base often makes mainstream outlets feel like they should try to get a piece of that pie or at least figure out what’s going on and their World Championships is a point around which to ground that effort rather than the curio itself.

This year The International has another record-breaking amount of money at stake – $22,169,818 at time of writing* – so it’s natural to want to pop by and see what that’s all about. I’d say it’s obviously worth seeing if this version of the newcomer stream is the level of information you’re after. But if not I’m a big advocate for watching things with a knowledgeable companion, so maybe seek out a friendly esports Discord channel or see if anyone’s going to a Pubstomp near you (those are the live watching parties). That way you can ask questions and have the experience a bit better tailored to what you need to know.

Maybe if you know of anyone setting up a little RPS watching party for newbies or where they would be welcome to ask questions drop the info in the comments.

The International 2017 main event will take place 7-12 August at KeyArena in Seattle. We’ll have our usual primer to help you understand some of the context closer to the event!

Dota 2 sniper daedalus wholesale

In early game Sniper is very good, because of his range and Headshot. In mid or endgame Sniper is very, very weak, because he is very weak and vulnerable, as said before. I think the most OP hero is pudge, because of his massive amount of lifepoints in endgame and his also very high damage.

Every time i played sniper(i didnt played dota that much) my enemy was also a carry or somebody like Pudge who gets very strong in endgame. In early game i get many kills because the sniper stuns enemies with the headshot, so even melees cant get very close to me without getting badly damaged or disturbed while attacking me. But in mid/endgame the enemy has more money to buy thing like blink dagger or life points boost. I have played very often against enemies like Pudge who has a massive amount of life points or very fast heroes like Nightstalker or Phantom Assassin.

I think Sniper is very OP char.

He might appear OP in the beginning, but later on you’ll find he is actually not that impressive. The thing with Sniper is that he has great offensive abilities: good attack range, reasonable attack speed and attack damage, and a high chance to ministun and deal extra every time he uses his basic attack. The ministun in particular can be a real pain, making it impossible to approach him and impossible to run away.

However, that attack power comes with a price. In the beginning Sniper’s damage output is actually pretty low, because while he doesn’t attack slower than others, he has one of the lowest starting attack damage out of all heroes with 39 (36-42). In fact, the only two heroes with lower attack damage than Sniper in the beginning are Shadow Fiend (who gains most of his attack damage from his passive Necromastery), and Invoker (who can enhance his attack damage by equipping Exort, and as a spellcaster doesn’t get his power from basic attacks anyway). As a carry, Sniper’s attack power only comes in play later in the game, so in the beginning he shouldn’t cause you any real grief.

Other than that, Sniper is very squishy. He doesn’t have a lot of health, and he doesn’t have a lot of armor. Once focused he goes down quickly, since none of his abilities make him tougher in any way. The problem is getting the opportunity to kill him without getting killed yourself first.

Luckily Sniper can’t run away well. His movement speed is a bit on the low side, so he isn’t going to outrun any good chaser, and he doesn’t have any escape methods (since his abilities are all focused on attacking they don’t help with running away). He could try to hinder his opponent by placing Schrapnel behind him, but that’s not going to keep anybody away for long.

Looking at these weaknesses the solution of Sniper is actually pretty easy: Kill him before he kills you. It sounds a bit obvious, but it actually makes sense. During all parts of the game Sniper is squishy and can’t run away well, so once you get the chance to attack him he dies quickly. Admittedly, late game he tends to have a high damage output, but in the beginning of the game his damage output is one of the lowest in the game, as has been said before. Run up to him with a hero who’s good at closing gaps and chasing, and Sniper can’t do much about it except trying to shoot you before dying, which isn’t going to work early in the game.

And killing him early on also helps dealing with him later on. One of the reasons Sniper becomes so strong late game is because his fighting style greatly benefits from items that increase attack power. His long attack range means that even against other heroes he can get a couple of shots in before they can attack back, and if he buys something like Daedalus (good attack damage increase and gives a chance to crit for large amounts of damage) those couple of shots can already be enough to wreck squishier targets. His ministun has a chance of proccing every time he shoots, which means that not only does Sniper find damage increasing items useful, items that allow him to shoot more often, and thus ministun and deal more damage more often are also a great boon for him.
The downside to him liking those items so much is that without them he isn’t much, and those items are expensive. If you kill Sniper, he can’t farm creeps for gold to get those items, he can’t kill enemy heroes or towers either, and also very important, every time you die you lose some of the gold you’ve been patiently gathering. For Sniper, who needs to buy items that cost large amounts of gold, getting killed really sets him back, since the more money you have, the more you can lose when dying.

So if you take advantage of Sniper being squishy and weak in the beginning not only can you become stronger yourself, you make it harder for him to get the items and levels required for him to start carrying.

Of course, Shadow Blade is also a popular item for Sniper, since it increases damage output and gives him a method of escape by activating the item, becoming invisible, and running for it. For people new to the game that might make him appear to be invincible, since every time you try to kill him he disappears from sight and runs away. How do you deal with that?

Answer: True Sight. Several heroes have ways to detect an invisible target, but a more reliable method is to buy items like Dust of Appearance, Sentry Wards, and Gem of True Sight. I personally prefer Dust, since it’s cheap, can’t be avoided by running out of the area, and none of the items Sniper usually builds allow him to deal with it. When you attack Sniper you activate Dust immediately, and when he becomes invisible you just keep attacking him, throwing some stuns and slows at him to make sure the bonus speed from Shadow Blade doesn’t allow him to escape you.

Summary: Sniper scales well with items, giving him good damage output later in the game, but throughout the entire game he’s squishy, doesn’t have any escape mechanisms, and early in the game his damage is also bad, making him an easy target to kill. The only thing Sniper usually can do to prevent death is buy a Shadow Blade, and that is very easily countered by buying something like Dust of Appearance, which is a lot cheaper and almost completely nullifies the effect of Shadow Blade. If you kill Sniper early on he can’t become as strong later on.

What happened to TI6 champions Wings Gaming?

The fall of last year’s The International champions is a tale of the pitfalls of money and power.

Dota 2 Official Photostream/Valve

In every iteration of The International, the champion has come back to defend their title in some shape or form. Most years, the team has been invited; last year, Evil Geniuses, after breaking Valve’s recent roster rules, earned their spot through Open Qualifiers.

This year, though, there is no banner ready to defend. Wings Gaming, the winners of The International 6, no longer exists. Their roster has split, and the organization behind it is under scrutiny. While it’s common for teams to collapse mid-season, Wings’ situation was an exceptional case.

It’s extremely rare for Chinese Dota 2 teams to come out of nowhere. Teams under the esports player union Association of Chinese Esports, or ACE, have a relative monopoly on the scene. Very few have the chance to play at high levels along this organization’s teams, which include tier-one teams TI4 winners Newbee, TI2 winners Invictus Gaming, Vici Gaming and LGD Gaming, along with their sister rosters. Speculation exists that as recently as before TI5, ACE barred Wings from participating in events, despite the organization’s frequent appearance at international events.

That particular roster won the Chinese Open Qualifiers for The International 5, but they failed to make it to the main event. Wings dropped the full team in favor of the current one, which began to see even more success. They frequently popped up in events, and, most notably, won ESL One Manila in early 2016. In June, Wings finally appeared in their first in-house tier-one ACE circuit, NEA2016, confirming their presence in the highest levels of play.

Soon enough, they took the first spot of The International 6’s Chinese Qualifiers, posing them as a threat for the rest of the event.

By the time they found victory and picked up the Aegis of Champions, the players cranked out 40 out of 55 possible hero picks during the main event. This number was only rivaled only by their Grand Finals opponents Digital Chaos, which chose 43 unique heroes out of 95 possible hero picks. (The match count is dramatically different due to DC’s lower bracket run.)

When the event concluded and the next season picked up, Wings couldn’t find their stride quite in the same way. While the pride of winning could be a factor, as many suspect for many ex-TI champions after the event, it was still a bit upsetting for fans.

The TI Curse looms over upcoming The International 7

Then, in April of 2017, the entire roster announced their departure from the Wings organization. They explained that their manager couldn’t pay the team, apparently due to a failed League of Legends investment. This breach of contract forced the players’ hand and prompted their departure. These players reformed in time for the Kiev Major under the name Team Random. However, Random failed to perform in Kiev, dropping in the first round of the main event.

In May, information surfaced suggesting that the former Wings squad breached a second contract signed with ACE, regarding their departure from the parent org. No formal details of this contract have been shared, and even Wings’ players have remained mum on the topic. Leading to additional confusion and fan outrage, Wings’ players also believed they had been banned from the Chinese DOTA 2 circuit for life. This was later revealed to be a misunderstanding that was quickly resolved.

There were no tangible punishments from the association at this point. However, a chat transcript leaked in which managers from different ACE organizations agreed to not scrimmage with the ex-Wings teams and players. In the end, the vague nature of the situation, plus the perception of strong-arming by ACE, led Wings fans to express outrage towards the association.

Then, two of the team’s stars, Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida and Zhang “y`” Yiping, showed up with EHOME managers at ACE’s doorstep to attempt to sign the two onto the roster. At this point, because the players were under observation by ACE until things were sorted out, ACE chose to ban the EHOME organization, causing outrage in support of the historic Chinese team. It was a bold move to ban the team, standard-bearer of Chinese Dota, which played in the first ever TI Finals. Fortunately for those picked up by EHOME, it’s only an organization ban, and all of the players can return to ACE’s jurisdiction under other organizations.

Valve, at the same time, has taken a hands-off approach for the most part. Still, when they invited EHOME to the China Main Qualifiers of this year’s TI, many saw it as a stance against ACE. Despite the breadth of experience on the team, EHOME couldn’t muster the necessary victory to return these players to Seattle, and the Wings Gaming dream faded.

Wings’ disappearance from the scene has been a disappointment to fans and pros alike. Reddit user /u/axecalibur found Evil Geniuses sporting the names of Wings players that shared their in-game role:

Many are also finding familiarity in gameplay, pointing at Virtus Pro’s incredible run at The Summit as a “homage.” The team didn’t play a single repeat hero until the finals, and people found parallels to Wings’ absolutely massive hero pool.

In the end, The International 7 is left without a defending champion, and three players are without a team. Meanwhile, this series of events has put the reputation of ACE under fire, though it’s a dilemma without a solution. Still, none of the fallout diminishes the journey that put Wings Gaming’s name on the Aegis of Champions, an achievement that can’t be dismantled.
