Pentagram and Satanic in DotA

I would like to start a discussion about these item and the pentagram graphic in DotA. Please keep it civil: this is intented as a serious discussion on the subject. Any flamewar starting or igniting posts will be reported to the mods immideately, and I except them to be taken care of.

The question of this thread is to not question each others religion or lack of religion thereof: I presume we all have our reasons to believe or not to believe, what those reasons are, and wether they be good reasons or not, is not relevant in anyway to this discussion we’re having. I’ve cleared this now upfront, so don’t try and bring them to this context and discussion we’re having now, please. Thank you.

Now let us take a look at the symbols “Pentagram.” Historically, Pentagrams have been used in various religious rituals from what I know of, and are even common practice of some Wiccans today. This sign is clearly not of christian origin, even though it may have been used by “christians” in the past – by christians I mean people who were forced to convert into a Christianity, but were allowed to keep a part of their paganistic habitats. Now what’s interesting to know is wether or not this has been used by x, y in the past when it comes to the revelance of this context into DotA; it’s certain that the notion and usage of this pentagram is clearly derived from the common “devil worship” of our past or our CURRENT century, as this pentagram is the ultimate ability of the “Doom Bringer,” who is called Lucifer A. K.A, the Satan.

Even though I admit and know that the notion of “Lucifer” is based on a misintepration of a certain part in the bible, it doesn’t matter: what matters is how this is wished to have been portrayed in the current DotA game as we know it, and it’s also how I presume majority of the people understand it, becouse in current popular culture Lucifer is basically a Satan.

Im going to draw an example, it’s from my old language here in Finland. It’s a teaching from my old man, who used to say, that he won’t quit saying “nigga’s” “nigga’s,” becouse to him, he had grown with the concept that, nigger basically meant a black person and to him, there was nothing offensive in it.

However, there’s also the a fact that if certain world is used in the wrong context too often, then it may as well become a curse word. Such is the case of the “nigga” world in our Finnish culture. There weren’t many somalians in our country before, but there are now, and as such, this has even become an issue of a political correctness. So I believe this word has actually changed it’s meaning: from a neutral word describing a black person, to a racist word portraying a black person.

As such you can clearly see that, worlds change in our different culture if they are used in certain context too often. Same is for Lucifer: term means the “light-bringer” and the place in bible may not neccessarily describe Satan, but becouse the concept of “Lucifer” has been used in our common culture so much as a description of Satan, the meaning of this word has changed. Such is the case for the N word in my country, the Lucifer words, and presumably alot of other words to come.

Now I just wanted to clear up that front so we don’t have to have discussing about the meanings of the word, or meanings of the Pentagram becouse it’s obvious that in the context of this game, they are used to describe a devilish being and are thus connected to the biblical satan as well in our current popular culture.

Now what is the point then? Someone can say: Nobody cares. But I care. I want to ask, is it really neccessary to keep in game such unoriginal reference to a malevolent real-life being? I mean, could we be more original, and would more originality hurt us in the long run? Im not saying im personally offended by the name Lucifer in game. But I don’t pick him either. So it’s kind of like 50/50. It’s more of me not wanting to promote the usage of unoriginality. In Diablo 3, the developers drifted from the original plan to use pentagrams for the same creativity reasons:

Bashiok: A lot of what we do now and have been doing for the past. 8 or so years, around the Warcraft III and initial World of Warcraft development era, is putting a lot of effort into crafting unique worlds. Meaning that we put more effort into every aspect of the game world itself. Who is this secret organization? What is their history? What’s their look? Do they have a specific accent? Do they have a symbol or mark that can identify them?

In the previous games I think there was a sense of “Oh it’s a demon, Diablo, devil, Satan, satanism… pentagram!” and while certainly there are those influences, what we’re creating now and have been creating for quite some time is evolving the game world and making something more complete. A complete world where every aspect is fully realized, maybe even if it doesn’t show up in the game.
I think that same sort of world-crafting can be seen between Warcraft II and Warcraft III. A big shift in focus to fleshing out a unique fantasy world and story.

So what’s stopping Valve from being more original in this matter? I would like to hear arguments from back and forth. Let the discussions begin.

How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

How to Fix Dota 2 Crashes

In case you experience frequent Dota 2 crashes while loading the game or during the game-play, then you need to read this article. You can follow all applicable solutions. These solutions are good for almost all operating systems. In case you face any issue in any of the steps, you can contact me and I can help/guide you with it. I have tested all these methods and those all work perfectly for me.

It is not necessary to apply all the solutions, but you can apply as many as possible or needed.

1. Set Auto Config Launch

There are some predefined values in the game launcher settings. You can use those to fix some of the issues. So you can set the Auto Config mode as described and shown below:

  1. Open Steam and click Library.
  2. Right-click Dota 2 and select “Properties”.
  3. A New Window will open like the image below. Click “Set Launch Options” as highlighted below. If there is there is any other lunch option already present, remove it and type “-autoconfig“.
  • Click OK and start your game now.
  • 2. Set Safe Launch

Still, if you get crashes after Auto Config mode, you should try “Safe Launch Mode” the same way as we did above.

    1. Repeat Steps 1-2 from the above paragraph.
    2. Click “Set Launch Options“, remove existing value (if there any) and type “-safe“.
    3. Click OK and restart the game. It will start your game in safe mode with normal settings and most probably issues will be fixed.

    3. Change Process Affinity

This seems to be very geeky fix, but actually, it is not. Sometimes Dota 2 does not use the full potential of your CPU properly and you do not get enough power to run Dota 2. Therefore it crashes. Process Affinity can be changed very easily and it gives your game full power of your CPU and Processors.

    1. Start Steam and Start Dota 2.
    2. Press Alt + Tab or Windows keys to minimize Dota 2 and switch to your desktop.
    3. Right-click the Taskbar, select “Task Manager”.
    4. If you are running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7, then you will have to click the Processes tab. Windows 8 and Windows 10 users to click the “Details” tab.
    5. Find process “dota2.exe“. Right click on it and select “Set Affinity” as you can see in the image above.
    6. A New Window will open from where you can select how many CPU cores you want to allow Dota 2 to use. Select all cores available. As can be seen in the image below. Then click “Ok“.
    7. Close Task Manager and Check your Dota 2 now. It should fix your Dota 2 crashes problem.

    4. Change the NV >NVidia Control Panel contains several graphical settings. You should set recommended settings in it because that works perfectly for most of the users. In case Recommended settings don’t work for you, you can always try other settings to tweak what works best for you.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Next click NV >Same Settings can be applied for ATI Radeon graphics cards as well by following almost the same steps as of NVidia Graphic Cards.

    5. Disable Switchable Graphics

If you do not have dual graphic Cards, then you should leave this step and skip to the next one.

Nowadays almost all the PCs and Laptops have 2 graphic Cards by default. What happens is, one graphics card is of ATI Radeon or NV >If there are 2 Graphics Cards in your system, then there must be an option in your BIOS settings from where you can tell your CPU about the way it should use your Graphics Card. Sometimes these graphics card issues also cause Dota 2 crashes. In this step, we will disable the switching process. We will make sure that our secondary Graphic Card (ATI Radeon or NVidia) should be used is more powerful.

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Go to BIOS settings by pressing F2, F12 or Delete key (Whichever is applicable to your system).
    3. BIOS Settings page will open.
    4. Search for a setting called “Switchable Graphics“.
    5. Disable it.
    6. Select Save settings and exit.

    6. Reset Texture and Render Quality Settings

Sometimes your video setting in Dota 2 are too high and your system cannot bear that, which causes extra load on your Graphics Card and overall whole system too. So you must optimize those video settings completely according to your needs. Best is to reset the texture and render quality settings as shown below:

    1. Start your Dota 2 game.
    2. Click Settings in top left corner, then come to Video Options.
    3. Set lower Texture and higher Render Quality.
    4. Click the Save Settings button, exit and restart your Dota 2.

    7. Verify Cache Files Integrity

Verify integrity of the game cache files.

    1. Open Steam.
    2. Click Library
    3. Right-click the Dota 2 and select Properties.
    4. In top Menu, click on Local Files tab. Then select “Verify Integrity of Game Cache“. You must ensure that the game is not running at the time you are verifying the cache Files Integrity. Once the process is complete, click OK and you will be good to go.

    8. Reinstall Steam

Sometimes Dota 2 crashes due to corrupt files. These may be corrupt Steam files or it may be corrupt Dota 2 Files. So let’s try the small solution first.

    1. Exit Steam completely.
    2. Go to Control Panel, then Programs and select Uninstall a Program.
    3. Uninstall steam completely. Do not uninstall your Dota 2 at this step . I am just talking about reinstalling steam. Don’t worry, if you uninstall steam nothing will happen to your Dota 2 files.
    4. Go to Official Steam Site and install a new copy of Steam and once you have installed, it will automatically pick Dota 2.
    5. If you want to be safer, then you need to copy your Dota 2 files to some other drive. You can find your Dota 2 Folder in C:Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/dota 2 beta. My dota 2 will not open from steam This folder “Dota 2 Beta” is the main folder which has all your game-related files.

    9. Reinstall Steam + Dota 2

If all above methods fail, then its time to take the sour pill. You have to uninstall and then reinstall your Dota 2 and Steam. It will hopefully fix your issues. The complete process of Reinstalling Dota 2 with the backup method is explained here.

    10. Using VPN Softwares

WTFast is one of the best VPN software which is designed to reduce your pings and packet losses. It also takes care of your lags issue. If your game is unplayable even after changing your ISP, then its time for you to take it for a spin. The good thing is, it offers a free 7 days trial version with full options.

In case you are running Windows 10, then you should also have a look at this article Dota 2 on Windows 10 – Problems and Solutions. It will surely help you fix your lags and delays issues.

    Biography [ edit ]

Hao, nicknamed General Hao by the Chinese community, is known to be one of the most aggressive players in the scene. Having joined teams such as Nirvana. Dota 2 hao weibo app cn, TyLoo, Pandarea, TongFu, Invictus Gaming, Newbee, and Vici Gaming, Hao is no stranger to LAN competitions and is also known to be extremely fervent during matches. As a carry player, he has the urge to kill which can be seen in games where he dives countless times for kills. His risky plays defines his character, and the polarizing rewards or setbacks from the outcome of his aggression can make or break the team that he plays in.

Hao has played in every International, in 2011 with TyLoo (Placed 9-12th), in 2012 (Placed 7-8th) and 2013 with TongFu (Placed 4th), in 2014 with Newbee (Placed 1st), in 2015 with Vici Gaming (Placed 4th), and in 2016 with Newbee.

    Dota 2 [ edit ]

Hao was among the first players to make the jump to Dota 2 from Warcraft 3 Dota, remaining with Tyloo in the very first International. Despite the high hopes for the team and a strong group stage performance, they finished at bottom half, and the roster parted ways with the organization shortly after.

Moving to Tongfu along with long-time partner Mu, the pair quickly distinguished themselves as aggressive carries that held little regard for safety, much like the style introduced by the Russians as opposed to the more stable Chinese approach. The team was able to qualify for the International 2, but only finished at 7th – 8th and the team held improving results in the lead up to the International 3. At the event, Tongfu managed to finish at the upper half of their groups, only to be sent to the lower bracket by Natus Vincere in a controversial game 3, where Na’Vi was able to utilize multiple fountain hooks to come back and take the game. While the team would eliminate defending champions, Invictus Gaming, Tongfu would soon be eliminated by Orange Esports, finishing 4th. After which, Hao left Tongfu to play for IG, and the team held many top 3 placings such as those at G-League and Red Bull ECL 2013.

Finishing his brief stint with IG, Hao reunited with many of his former teammates from Tongfu’s TI3 squad, and the group would go on to form Newbee, a superstar team holding veterans of the Chinese scene. The team had a strong start with their victory at MDL 2014, which later led to the team’s massive victory at The International 2014, taking the tournament after barely managing to escape elimination before the main event. Newbee’s performance remained strong for the remainder of the year with another first place finish at WCA 2014. Soon, the team hit its first brick wall in the form of the Dota Asian Championships 2015, where the TI4 champions finished last. After this finish, Hao left the team to join Vici Gaming.

The change did not affect his results, and Hao continued to place highly in The Summit 3 and i-League, which led to the team’s invitation to The International 5. Finishing at 4th, Hao rejoined Newbee, and joined the team in its slump, where the team consistently failed to qualify for premier tournaments, and also suffered last place defeats at the Frankfurt Major and WCA 2015. After the Shanghai Major, the team held another roster swap which brought Kaka and Kpii to the team, and Newbee was able to finally break its slump, with an overwhelming performance at EPICENTER, where the team held a record 29-0 win streak, which gave them the invitation to the Manila Major, which they finished 3rd. The team then defeating Wings Gaming at the Nanyang Championships to earn their invite for the International 2016. Despite strong performance in the past, the team was only barely able to make it to the upper bracket, where they were quickly sent down by Evil Geniuses before being eliminated immediately by Team Liquid.

After the disappointing performance, Hao publicly announced his temporary leave from active competition, stating that he will be gone from the scene for at least half a year.

In May 2017, Hao’s return was announced by Vici Gaming.

    Dota 2 mmr calibration equipment

    Dota 2 mmr calibration equipment

    Dota 2 mmr calibration equipment

    Dota 2 mmr calibration equipment

I’ve been doing some reading, and it seems players have come to the conclusion a carry, or greedy play style is more beneficial in your calibration matches. I have seen many claims or comparisons of people doing all 10 matches together and the support on average being 1k under the carry player. Wether this is entirely true or not I cannot say, and I’m sure, with presistence, even as a support player you can raise your MMR bracket over time.

BUT, what I’m ultimately getting at, is what could we suggest or do to rectifiy this situation? (If it indeed even exists.) I had some ideas, and was wondering what the community thought of them. I was thinking if KDR, XPM and GPM play a high level of relevancy in your MMR – all things we know a good support usually won’t get a lot of – we could maybe balance the playing field by making assists more relevant. Also, we could implement more situations where a supporting player could get an assist. I. e: Ward placement. If an enemy hero is killed under or nearby a ward place, the purchasing player could receive an assist. Or, if a hero like Omni or Centaur pops their ult and enemy heros die, they get assists. You see where I’m going with that.

Anyway, I want to know what you guys think of those ideas, or if you have ideas of your own.

    Please enlighten me.

I think its just a win is a win, and who you are against that determines the magnitude, and where you fall into the spread of the mmrs

I was thinking the same, it’s why I’ve played almost all my matches as a support. I have 3 left, but I’ve read some pretty convincing arguments that calibration games have a greater depth to them. And isn’t nessicarily a good thing, because the scoreboard will always favor the carry.

I mean, how else could two players playing all 10 calibration matches together wind up in entirely different brackets?

There’s also the ‘uncertainty’ variable, which I most certainly will have extremely low gains from. I played over 500 matches on public before bothering with rank. High levels of uncertainty factor match you with higher skilled players, thusly winning your calibration matches would put you in a higher bracket as well.

I’m eager to hear more voices on this, and what people think of my idea. Dota 2 mmr calibration equipment

another thing that people think takes effect is your hidden MMR.

some people say that it just takes your hidden MMR and makes slight ajustments to it. there is also the uncertain rate, so if you completlely dominate in normal matches and all the sudden feed in your callibration, the uncertainty will go up which means larger ajustments to your MMR

also i read somewhere that one guy played as zeus and just used his abiities to take everybody’s kills and he ended up with 4k+ mmr

valve has released very little information about the MMR system that is significant so nobody really knows

valve has released very little information about the MMR system that is significant so nobody really knows

So lets discuss in hypotheticals. What do you think about my ideas to reward the support class more by making assists more relevant, and making supporting actions reward the player with said assists?

Use dust, invis hero dies, get assist. Hero dies within ‘x’ seconds of being revealed by an observer/sentry ward, or dies undeneath them, get an assist.

I think this would at the very least give an incentive for people to play the role.

it is a good idea but i think it could be easily abused

since anyone can buy dust, wards ect, if someone wanted to cheat they could just place down a ward during a teamfight and depending on the outcome they could end up with 5 assists, see what i mean ?

True, I guess it could be easily exploited. But, I mean, based off the typical psychology of a carry player they’d likely rather get a kill than an assist, and would rather have their faces melt off then ever buy wards.

    But I see your point.

Maybe the best approach would be to simply remove all depth from the system and base it purely off a win-lose system.

    4k and so forth..

Hard to tell how mmr works since very little info given by volvo.

Just be the best support you can be, guide the match to victory even if it means having a godauful score personally and being a ward mule.

so long as you keep that win ratio over %50 you will climb up slowly, its a longer road but isnt that what a support is all about? Winning the game even if you get no recognition.

Well, won 7/10 games as a support. Lost my first game and my last two games in a literal avalanche.

You actually have to play close to 150 games before you can even start your calibration matches (level 13) and your unranked games actually have an invisible MMR. You can actually check your unranked MMR in control panel or at least you could a long time ago. I remember before my calibration games my unranked MMR was at 4400 and after my calibration matches I ranked at 4300 MMR to begin with. Also if you check dota buff, you can see what bracket you are playing in for unranked via the top of the score page (normal skill, high skill, very high skill, diamond 10 etc.)

I would assume that you just start at around 3500 unranked MMR when you start a new account and after 13 levels (or close to 150 matches), the MMR system can determine what bracket you are adjusted to and the 10 calibration matches are matches played within the skill bracket you adjusted for in non ranked, and how you do in those calibration matches determines your starting MMR within that bracket.

So for example if you are losing constantly you will eventually make normal bracket, and your calibrations will put you between 2500-3200 MMR either on the higher or lower end based on how your calibration goes. If you win non stop in non ranked until you only are playing VHS bracket, you will be placed somewhere in between 3800-5000 MMR depending on calibration, although I’ve never heard of someone calibrating to 5k ever and I have 3 friends that are 6k+ and multiple high 5ks. You basically have to work your way up to 5k+ and if not, then I’ve never heard of or seen people starting 5k.

10 DotA 2 Heroes with Overpowered Ultimate Skills

DotA 2 has never been short off heroes that can pretty much be described as overpowered characters with their impressive abilities and strong ultimate skills that can render a rampage in the game. No wonder almost everyone seems to be playing it on their PC or PC gaming console. And since we’re quite amused by them, we made up our own list of the 10 DotA 2 heroes with overpowered ultimate skills.

Although a late-gamer hero, Ursa is proven to be one of the most effective top laner hero that quite gives your team an advantage especially if he’s good at executing his skills thorough his gameplay. What makes Ursa’s ultimate skill, Enrage, an overpowered ability is that it makes he go into a frenzy that causes his multiple the damage of his Fury Swipes, while causing him to take 80% less damage. Oh, and did I also mention that it removes all existing debuffs?

    Faceless Vo >

Faceless Void is a powerful jungler that has an effective crowd control ultimate skill that pretty much lets him kill his opponents easily. His ultimate skill is known as Chronosphere which lets him create a blister in time. All units in the affected area are freezed in time while Faceless Void and any units he controls remain unaffected, making it easier for him to kill them.

    Crystal Ma >

Perhaps the hero which haves one of the most powerful crowd control ultimate skill, Crystal Maiden’s Freezing Field is enough to damage half of her opponent’s lives when build with the right items. Her ultimate skill lets her cause an icy explosion around her area which slows enemies and deal immense damage. And it also lasts for 10 seconds.

    Chaos Knight

Chaos Knight is a top laner who can also be a hybrid jungler to make him even stronger. And why he is overpowered? Well, his ultimate skill which is Phantasm allows him to summon several copies of him and pretty much harass his opponents to their death. These phantasm copies of him deals full damage as well.

    Brew Master

A durable carry you can always count on during a clash, Brew Master has this great ultimate that allows him to split himself into three elements which forms 3 different warriors, adept at survival. Each element’s deal different damage and if ever one of them survived the clash, Brewmaster willl reborn automatically.

    Warlock

One of the scariest hero with an overpowered ulti, Warlock’s Chaotic Offering lets him summon a gigantic Golem that stuns enemies for one second. This golem can live up to 60 seconds and can pretty much deal damage to his opponent.

    Gyrocopter

Gyrocopter is an effective nuker that works very well during clash with his Call Down ultimate skill. When executed, Gyro will call down an aerial missile that strikes on all enemy units in the targeted area. Skins dota 2 heroes and skills Two missiles are actually fired during this skill, the first deals major damage and slow down enemies for 2 seconds, while the second missile deals minor damage and slows down enemies for 4 seconds.

    Shadow Fiend

Shadow Fiend, more popularly known as SF, is a ranged and carry nuker that has his Requiem of Souls fo an ultimate skill. This lets him released all of his captured souls into lines of demonic energy that can greatly damage opponents near him. Any opponents damaged by the skill will have a decrease in their attack damage and speed.

    Earthshaker

Earthshaker is an incredible carry and support that can also act as a great nuker thanks to his ultimate skill, the Echo Slam. This skill lets him cause shockwaves to travel through the ground causing the earth to shake and damage any nearby units.

    Sand King

I once played with a friend who uses Sand King a lot and he pretty much showed me how this hero can deliver an easy rampage once he decided to execute his ulti, the Epicenter. After two seconds of channeling, Sand King sends out a disturbance into the earth’s surface which causes it to shudder violently. All enemies within it range deals damage and are slowed at same time.

    Why Headshot on early game?
To make you easier for last hitting and denying.

    Why Sharpnell on mid game?
This skill helps you in gank and teamfight, and in this state of the game, is where gank happens.

Why take aim is the last skill to be maxed? Usually, Sniper get a nice back up from his partner, so he should be able to do last hitting from his dafault range on early-mid game. Your ability point is better to be allocated on Sharpnell first because it will help you on a gank / teamfight.

    STRATEGY
    Early Game
You should try to lasthits every creeps. Denying is not your priority. This is a carry’s job, to farm as much. The more you farm, the faster you will get your items, the faster you get your item, the stronger you are. The stronger you are, the more capacity you will have to carry your team into victory.

On early game, you should be protected by your teammates to be able to farm in a maximum safety. You may ask a supportive hero like Vengeful Spirit or Shadow Demon to helps you. A support can protect you from death by their stun.

And also don’t forget to ask the Support to always buys the wards to be able to get vision on a certain area where enemy may comes to gank you.
Remember: Safety is the key of a successful team.

    Mid Game
Keep farming. This is your job. Change lane if there is an empty lane. Or you can participate in a teamfight once in a while if the sitiation is good for you. You have Sharpnel and Assassinate to helps you getting enemy kills.

Or if your team decided to push, you can easily right click the tower, the advantage of being Sniper is that towers can’t hit you because you attack range is long.

    Late Game
This is the stage you will contribute the most because in this stage you should already acquired high damages to carry the enemy.

Wait until your initiator started a teamfight. Just right click the enemy one by one. Believe me that your damage is very high so you just right click the enemy to kill them all.

You can use Assassinate once in a while, like when there is an enemy escape from you. Assassinate damage is high, so you can kill squishy heroes like Crystal maiden or KoTL easily

Usually in this stage of the game you already have some good items like Manta Style or Daedlus. I believe that you always can outdamage the enemy, so keep calm and right click. Recommended to kill squishy heroes first and then later you can kill the tanky heroes.

Dota 2 newcomer stream returns to megabucks tourney

    24th July 2017 / 1:58PM

With mega Dota 2 [official site] competition The International 2017 on the esports horizon, Valve have gone into more detail about what fans can expect from the tournament. There’s a new host in the form of Sean “Day9” Plott (you might know him from his work in the pro StarCraft scene, the Hearthstone scene, or the pro Dota 2 scene, or for hosting cheery fanzine PC Gamer’s E3 event) some scheduling details and HOLLER TO ALL OF YOU WHO WANTED IT BACK because the newcomer stream is happening again. It sounds like it’s not taking on the 2014 form of talking players through every match from first principles. I think that was genuinely stressful for the casters because it was the same info every time and with Dota that makes you’re explaining lanes and creeps for half an hour and not actually able to even discuss what’s on the screen right now properly.

“Once the event begins, you can help any friends interested in learning more about Dota by sending them to the Newcomer Stream, which features the main broadcast enhanced with contextual overlays that call out information helpful for understanding the intricate world of Dota during the most exciting time of the competitive season.”

At the risk of sending you away from RPS (so only click this if you promise to come back) I spoke about newcomer streams and the general accessibilty/lack thereof of esports broadcasting on the Crate and Crowbar podcast. It’s from about the 101 minute mark and (together with Tom Senior of PCG and Chris Thursten formerly of PCG) covers off some of the problems both in terms of assessing what a viewer even knows at a given time and how explaining a MOBA hamstrings you in terms of how fast you can get anyone up to speed and start talking about the game. We also talked through a few potential solutions.

I think one of the MOBAs did this overlay thing in a previous year, having a map you could hover your mouse over in order to find out what a fountain was or a tower or a creep. I want to say it was Dota. Dota 2 newcomer showbox Was it Dota? HIVEMIND, HELP A FRIEND OUT HERE!

I’ll be interested to see how in-depth the information on this year’s overlay gets and how non-players actually fare with it. I think I’d ideally pair it with a newcomer stream in terms of casters explaining why particular heroes synergise or breaking down team fights in slow mo during the lull after the action. In that scenario the overlay would do the heavy lifting of “what even is game?” and then the casters would go a tier up explaining how to piece the elements together and how to read the rhythm of the game.

I don’t have evidence for this but I’d assume Dota 2 – specifically The International – gets more drive-by traffic from curious folk outside MOBAs or outside esports because the prize pools are so big it makes the mainstream media as a curio. League of Legends is slightly different in that its huge player base often makes mainstream outlets feel like they should try to get a piece of that pie or at least figure out what’s going on and their World Championships is a point around which to ground that effort rather than the curio itself.

This year The International has another record-breaking amount of money at stake – $22,169,818 at time of writing* – so it’s natural to want to pop by and see what that’s all about. I’d say it’s obviously worth seeing if this version of the newcomer stream is the level of information you’re after. But if not I’m a big advocate for watching things with a knowledgeable companion, so maybe seek out a friendly esports Discord channel or see if anyone’s going to a Pubstomp near you (those are the live watching parties). That way you can ask questions and have the experience a bit better tailored to what you need to know.

Maybe if you know of anyone setting up a little RPS watching party for newbies or where they would be welcome to ask questions drop the info in the comments.

The International 2017 main event will take place 7-12 August at KeyArena in Seattle. We’ll have our usual primer to help you understand some of the context closer to the event!

6 Important Tips for Beginners to Play DOTA 2

DOTA 2 is a MOBA type game that is played by 2 teams consisting of 5 people from each team and can only be played on a PC. Many people have heard the term MOBA game thanks to the rise of those who play Mobile Legends and Arena Of Valor.

6 Important Tips for Beginners to Play DOTA 2

For those of you who want to explore / want to try a more challenging MOBA game you must play DOTA 2. Because in DOTA 2 it’s very different from ML or AOV even though the same type of MOBA game.

You can download DOTA 2 on Steam . You type in the steam search “DOTA 2” you can directly download the game for free. All you need is a laptop or computer with a minimum

    OS: Windows Vista
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Q6600 @ 2.4GHz / AMD Phenom 9850 @ 2.5GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 9800 / AMD Radeon HD 4870
    RAM: 4GB
    DirectX: Version 11
    HDD: 65GB

Here are tips how to Play DOTA 2

    1. Don’t Skip Game Tutorials

For those of you who are new to playing the DOTA 2 game, please don’t skip the first time playing the game. With the tutorial, you will understand the basics of playing DOTA 2. Knowing what kind of skills, what items are like, the rules of play and how to move the hero.

Many of them immediately skip the tutorial because it is considered boring. Apart from being bored, you should know the basics of playing before trying other tips.

    2. No Blind MAP

Different from ML or AOV games, DOTA 2 itself has a fairly extensive MAP. Even many dark areas that can be used by the enemy to be ganged. Playing DOTA besides focusing on finding gold and exp, you also have to pay attention to MAP.

Before the game starts you have to know which hero is your friend and which hero is your opponent, your opponent and enemy will be different in the mini map icon. In the default settings, the enemy is the arrow shaped icon, the friend is the cursor shaped icon. You have to be aware when enemies that disappear in minimap, they could be hiding in the forest and get ready to gang up on your hero.

    3. Knowing the DOTA Game Role

There is nothing wrong for a newbie to find out what roles are in DOTA 2. If you learn this, you are a smart beginner. There are 5 Main Role viz

Position 1 as a Hard Carry. Hard Carry Hero is a Hero who can lift or key the main victory of a team and will usually use safelane. Hard Carry heroes are usually weak heroes in the Early Game but are fierce in the Late Game. Hard Carry Hero must be smart to take advantage of last hit opportunities to get gold faster.

Popular Hard Carry Heroes such as Phantom Assassin, Ursa, Anti Mage, Dragon Knight.
Position 2 as a Semi Carry / MidLaner. This hero will be in the middle lane and face 1 opponent 1. This hero must be able to master the middle lane and gain Exp as soon as possible. Usually Midlaner heroes take advantage of high skill levels to get hurt damage at the beginning of the game and in the middle of the game. MidLaner heroes are demanded to master reliable last hits and beats.

Popular MidLaner heroes such as Invoker, Storm Spirit, Pudge, Queen of Pain.
Position 3 as Offlaner who functions to survive in the lane alone against 2 enemy heroes. Being able to survive alone is thankful especially being able to farm in the lane. Offlaner heroes don’t usually depend on items but have skills that are useful for staying alive and sick when used against opponents.

Popular MidLaner heroes such as Doom, Dark Seer, Broadmother, Tusk.
Position 4 as Semi Support / Roaming which serves to help team ganking. This hero usually roams the forest map. If you’re not doing forest creep stacking, then hide in a dark map to prepare your opponent ganking.

Popular Semi Support Heroes such as Nature Prophet, Bounty Hunter, Chen.
Position 5 as Hard Support is the position most needed in the team. This role is not good, because you have to buy support items such as Ward, Courier, and clarity and you are prioritized at the very bottom of killing creeps or opposing heroes. You should be able to make Hard Carry comfortable when farming and help it when ganking.

Popular Hard Support heroes such as Rubick, Dazzle, Keeper of Light, Shadow Shaman, Lion.

    4. Items that must be taken during early game

When the match starts, you will get not so much initial gold. Use the gold to buy the Town Portal Scroll and the remaining Tango adjusts the items to the role that you are currently using. Town Portal Scroll is very useful when you are in a precarious situation, for example, when you run out of blood and blood is dying, you can return to the Base or when you are stuck in the forest or in an enemy gang, you can use this TP to escape.

While tango is useful for regenerating your HP cellphone. When your hero is hit until it reaches half its blood, you can use the tango to restore your hero’s HP. Use the tango on the tree, your cellphone will automatically recover little by little.

    5. Ignore Criticism in the Game

DOTA 2 game is hard, bro, you have to have a mental steel to be able to continue playing DOTA 2. You have to ignore their dirty talk and their insults. Even the slightest mistake you will be insulted, ignore them and focus on playing so your team can win.

    6. Use the easy Hero first

Learning to use heroes is important, you are encouraged to use the easy ones first. In Dota 2 alone it has more than 100 heroes and not all of them are designed for beginners. Use easy heroes first if role carry like Phantom Assassin, Sniper, Ursa. Dota 2 tips 6 862 If the hero supports use Crystal Maiden, Spirit Breaker, Ogre.

    Dota 2 tips 6 862
