Top 10 Dota 2 Carry Heroes in 2018

With Valve just recently releasing its Dota 2 Update 7.18, a number of changes made their way into the making. This includes everything from hero/item alternations to a complete change of the game’s Meta. Most op ranged dota 2 hero This means everything we know about the game has changed in some way or the other. so, to better educate our readers of the current Carry heroes of the Meta, we are here with a list of the 10 best Dota 2 Carry Heroes of 2018.

Dota 2 Carry Heroes

The Meta for Dota 2 has changed and we are already seeing some new faces making their mark in the current Meta. Most op ranged dota 2 hero However, with Icefrog’s effort to balance the game, he made various changes that completely nerfed some of the most picked heroes while bringing up some that we weren’t used to in a very long time. So, without taking any more of your time, here are the 10 best Carry Heroes in the year 2018.

1. Ursa

Ursa is one of the most popular choices for the role of Carry in the current Dota 2 Meta. Most op ranged dota 2 hero This is due to the recent love the developers have shown to the agility based hero. This combined with his extremely powerful, yet tanky abilities make him a true beast in the game.

2. Spectre

Spectre has been a hero which was a consistent pick even before patch 7.19. Though, after the update tides favored Spectre even more. Her desolate has been buffed up giving Spectre more ease in farming, as well as her updated Dispersion, has given her enhanced tankability during team fights.

3. Terrorblade

Terrorblade finally got his place back in competitive Dota 2 with the recent patches. Immediately after, we saw teams picking up the split push carry to their advantage. Terrorblade’s farming, mobility build that professional players tend to make on this hero has allowed him to fit in many situations.

4. Anti-Mage

Well, one cannot just ignore Magina from the competitive scene no matter what. Anti Mage has been a life saver for many professional teams who consider this hero their last resort in times of need. No matter the changes to the Meta, you will still see Anti Mage being picked up by professional teams every no own then.

5. Phantom Lancer

The place of both Phantom Lancer and Anti-Mage is relatively the same. Phantom lancer slightly wins during the current Meta because of his farming abilities as well as his input from early game. Though professional players tend to favor the hero more for split pushing it certainly doesn’t mean Phantom lancer isn’t good in team fights.

6. Gyrocopter

Though there were slight nerfs to the hero, Gyrocopter still remains a solid pick in the competitive scene. The AOE damage burst and lock down abilities of Gyrocopter make him a favorable pick in many matches. Plus, his incredible ability to quickly finish off lanes, and heroes make him a true contender in the fight for the best Dota 2 Carry.

7. Ember Spirit

A hero that is favored in both mid and carry role, Ember Spirit’s snowball mechanics are so good that no team wants to let go it to others. Ember Spirit is a greatly contested hero in professional matches who will either be picked or get banned in the drafting stage. Almost every team is good with Ember Spirit on their side and therefore the hero is expected to be heavily contested in the future as well.

8. Alchemist

Ever since the update, Alchemist has been revived from the dead. The new build on Alchemist is working wonders in the professional scene and the hero is getting contested more than ever. VG’s Super is trying to get his hands on the hero whenever possible. Alchemist is definitely going to be one of those heroes you will be seeing at The International 2018.

9. Shadow Fiend

Shadow Fiend is among those heroes that have great potential to come back from gold deficit really really fast. Even if Shadow Fiend does not have a good lane stage with a little bit of support and creep stacks Shadow Fiend can be up and running in no time. Being able to take both mid and carry positions the hero has become a necessity in the current Meta. Most op ranged dota 2 hero

10. Faceless Void

Faceless Void has been one of the most consistent picks in Dota 2. However, this agility based character receiving some serious nerfs in the past, the pro scene Meta kicked him out. Well, with patch 7.19, things are looking good for Faceless as more and more players are looking to add him into their drafts. it is because of this newfound love, we thing Faceless Void is going to wreck havoc in the upcoming The International 2018 tournament.

That is it for now, but stay tuned as we going to be bringing you more guides likes this in the coming days. So while you wait for that too happen, comment below and let us know what you think of the guide above. Do you agree with our Top 10 best Dota 2 Carry Heroes guide or do you think we missed out someone very guide?

Contents

History [ edit ]

DotACommentaries. com was founded on April 4, 2010 by caster ‘Luminous’, designer ‘Corelight’, and webmaster ‘Uareanoob’ in order to create a website that would allow commentators to gain publicity, and support in the DotA Community. The duties of the website then expanded to include a forum for discussion, hosting tournaments, as well as attracting further talent.

DotA Series [ edit ]

In addition to casting games, DotACommentaries also creates various series for the purposes of learning and entertainment.

Active Series [ edit ]

  • Learning with Lumi :Be dazzled as caster Luminous gives hints, tips, tricks, lessons, and advice on how YOU can improve your DotA game. Eventually evolved into the Monday portion of The DotA Show.
  • DotA Daily :DotA legends aren’t born, they’re made. From start to finish, here is the series that made Nebu1a into the DotA icon that he is today. As the name implies a daily cast/lesson/show/spectacle that stretched for over two hundred episodes, and was eventually discontinued to make way for something bigger and better. As of September 2012 there is still no news as to what will be replacing it.
  • DotA Challenge :Originated as a challenge from the DotA Weekly Show, and was ported as Thursday’s event for the DotA show. Was eventually dropped.
  • Diamond. Bballin :A podcast featuring former staff member Diamond and caster Bballin. In it they discuss DotA, and virtually anything else that comes into their heads. Well received but discontinued after one episode.
  • The DotA Weekly Show :Host Luminous brings news and information from all around the dota community, nicely wrapped in one neat package, also originally included a mechanics section at the end of each segment. Elements were eventually merged into the DotA show.

The DotA Show [ edit ]

On August 8, 2012, DotACommentaries hosted what was to be their first DotA Show, a Sunday to Thursday live stream with several interactive events, atypically hosted by LD, Luminous, or both. Shows are hosted 7pm PST, 10 EST, and can be found on the front page of DotACommentaries. [1] The current format is as follows:

  • Sunday-Dota Trivia, An opportunity for fans and enthusiasts of the game to participate in quizzes and earn prizes. (Mainly rare or mythical cosmetic Dota 2 items and beta key(s)). Hosted by LD and Luminous.
  • Monday-Learning with Lumi, In-depth analysis on the best teams and players. Every week Luminous focuses, pinpoints, and explains. Showcasing great games and players, ideal for those looking to take their game to the next level.
  • Tuesday-DotA 101, For those new to the game, make sure you catch all the best from the DotA 101 series. Easy guides for beginners (and even some older players), develop your foundation and learn to stop feeding!
  • Wednesday-LD’s Lab!, Specific hero focus using LD’s PoV plays. A showcase of nuances and subtleties, enjoy the free essential guide that will be invaluable for learning to own.
  • Thursday-Throwback, Nostalgia is more than a warm feeling as Luminous takes viewers back in time. Watch matches featuring DotA legends and greats, from the seat-of-your pants kill-a-minute fests, to the fast farming high octane comeback specials. Features replays and hilarity from both DotA 1 and Dota 2!

VOD’s can also be found in playlists on the youtube channels of both Luminous (playlist) and LD (playlist), as well as on the DotA Show section of the DotACommentaries website.

Top 10 most played Supports of 7.20 at 5k MMR

The top 10 most popular Dota 2 supports during 7.20. We will learn the best support heroes in the meta, how to play or counter them, and the patch changes.

Article released during 7.20e.

More from this series:

In Dota 2, most heroes can be played on several roles depending on the meta, the tactic of the team, and the lineups in a particular match.

For this article, I have considered the actual meta and how these heroes are used in high rank pubs. The situation is extremely complex because heroes such as Windranger or Skywrath Mage could be picked as a core or a support depending on the match.

In the end, I have selected the heroes who have been played the most on a support position. While the list might not be perfect, I believe it is quite accurate, but you mustn’t forget that there are also viable meta picks such as Lion played as a core in the mid lane.

The heroes are arranged by pick rate, and the data considers all games played in any region in the 5k+ (Divine) bracket. Note that we can’t filter data for just a particular patch, so the past 30 days are examined. Statistics from Dotabuff.

Top 5

Hero Name Pick% Win%
Dazzle 32.7% 51.7%
Rubick 31.2% 48.1%
Grimstroke 28.5% 50.9%
Lich 27.4% 51.1%
Lion 22.0% 48.5%

Note: I have already talked about Lich in a previous analysis.

Dazzle – Gameplay revolutionized by Bad Juju

In this article, I will feature Dazzle. He became an absurdly strong and versatile hero after the changes brought in by 7.20.

IceFrog tried to adjust him nerfing the cooldown, mana cost, duration, and cast range of all his abilities in the following patches, but in my opinion a drastic nerf to his new ultimate is necessary to rebalance him.

The old ultimate Weave has been replaced by Bad Juju. The new passive skill reduces the cooldowns of his abilities and items by 20%/35%/50%; and every time Dazzle casts a spell, all nearby enemies will also have their armor reduced. The debuff stacks and refreshes its duration (8 seconds).

Poison Touch received a big buff as now every time the targets affected are attacked, the debuff duration is refreshed. The ability deals up to 364 damage in 7 seconds (to each target), and it goes up to 679 damage with the level 20 talent +45 Poison Touch DPS.

These two changes led to the rise of Dazzle. He became a very versatile hero who could be played anywhere from position 2 to 5; it is possible to pick him even as a mid laner.

He still works great as a position 5 because he can do his job even with almost no items, but I suggest playing him as a position 4 to farm a few items and exploit the massive 50% cooldown reduction provided by Bad Juju.

The following list shows the most bought items on Dazzle by pro players during December:

Medallion of Courage

Shadow Flame loading screen for Dazzle – Valve

The Necronomicon synergizes with Dazzle’s skills

The Necronomicon deserves an extended explanation because this item is amazing on Dazzle. Generally, it is a fam accelerator for any hero who can use it often, and thanks to the cooldown reduction granted by the new ultimate, the Necronomicon has almost 100% uptime once you hit level 6.

It is a game-changing item even on a support Dazzle, and I suggest buying it as a position 4 whenever possible:

It lets you farm ancient and neutral creeps very easily.

Poison Touch refreshes anytime the target is attacked by a hero or a player-controlled unit, so the Necronomicon summons can be used to proc it constantly.

Shadow Wave heals the friendly units and damages all the enemy ones standing nearby, so in ganks and team fights you can use the Necronomicon summons to damage the opponents.

It is important to point out that both the minions deal piercing damage. This attack damage type inflicts 150% damage to creeps, 50% to heroes, and 35% to towers. The minions do not show their full potential when attacking an enemy structure, but they are an amazing pushing and farming tool to deal with both jungle neutrals and creep waves.

The item pays itself quickly thanks to the added farm speed, it gives you a solid power spike, and synergizes well with your abilities.

Many players suggest leaving the Necronomicon to level 1 because it doesn’t scale well in the late game and it is quite expensive to upgrade. I believe that it depends on your priorities and the enemies faced: for example, your 100% uptime is great both to deward and to spot any invisible hero.

Dazzle with heroes able to summon minions

It is worth to note that most of the perks brought by the Necronomicon can be achieved for free by playing Dazzle in team with a hero able to summon units under their control. Lycan and Beastmaster are typical examples, and particularly the latter as he is a solid meta hero.

He can maximize Call of the Wild Boar and utilize it to reapply permanently Poison Touch during the laning phase. It is really an absurdly strong duo to face for the opponents in the easy lane.

Dota 2 waga techies metairie

Dota 2 waga techies metairie

Since only a few of you read the guide section, I’ll try to point a few things out.

In the first place, Techies is (or ”are”, whatever, I’m talking of a hero right now) a hero countered by anyone. The first thing you can do to ease your early phase of the game, is buying OBSERVER wards. Yes, you heard that right, get the observers and make sure you get vision at the rune spots as soon as the game begins (before the creepspawn if possible). You’ll notice at that point whether Techies’ mining activity is or it isn’t on your river side. If it is, everything you need to do is gank (kill) him. Remember that he has the lowest movespeed, and he won’t start with boots (normally).

Yes, Techies is an anti-ganker, but you can gank enemies on the lanes (without going into the opposite jungle), where the creepwaves pass. Just wait for the right moment. It is known that Techies will get level 6 rather slow, so take advantage of that. Outfarm and outlevel him.

The second thing you must be aware of, is that the bombs won’t explode unless they are triggered, so after level 6, you NEED to buy sentry wards in order to secure your push.

As you enter the middle-game stages, the gem on the carry/tanky hero is the best choice. Make sure you don’t lose it though. Techies is a tricky hero, so you can find your death sooner than expected when passing in the enemy territory without safety measures taken.

If you meet a lane Techies, you must know that his harassment is the worst possible. Unless you get too close to him, where he can suicide and do lots of damage, everything should be just fine. I recommend ranged carries for this thing, or fat melees.

Don’t make stupid mistakes! If you know that Techies has mined the side shop, just don’t go in there. DON’T get sentries for those mines, because you will still die in the process.

— SUMMARY OF THIS GUIDE —

1. Don’t die by Techies’ hand too many times (if you did, you are screwed, because in the meantime their carries will outfarm you).

2. Get a gem as soon as possible, but not as your first item. Try to purchase it in the middle of your core items build.

3. Just full-team push when you got the sentries/gem. Pushing alone will just cause you to lose the creepwave because of Techies’ mines and probably getting killed. Note that you NEED truesight, unless you want a rampage on his behalf.

4. Kill him from distance or silence him before he can suicide, that is his ultimatum, to be frank, since you are anyway destroying his bombs.

5. Win the game having a 5 vs 4 advantage.

every techies team iv seen has lost XD

Force staff can also render a gem useless if you are trying to demine a trapped laned and someone has the staff, you will always be forced to face the mines if your the one demining, even if you wait for the creeps to get rid of them is still rsiky as you might get staffed into the remianing mines. Another thing to note is NEVER go a full melee team if the enemy has a techies as it’s impossible to get rid of the mines without taking damage.

Techies can also put his mines virtually anywhere on the map so you should also keep an eye out for the more unusual places like within the smaller lanes within the jungles, the rune stairs and closer towards the narrow choke points of the river as it can be hard to know just where exactly the mines will be and you can’t throw wards willy nilly. A helm can also help by using a low cost creep and letting him patroll anywhere you think a mine is and let him trip them instead of you, saving time and a life.

Another thing to beware of if his new sign, being even with a gem it’s impossible to detect anything that is withing it’s radious and you can never tell if it’s really trapped or just a sign ment to deter the enemy, either case do not risk it as like above, you can get forced staffed into it if your not careful.

A rare thing to see if a techies with viel and an E-blade, the most impractical but very powerful item for Techies to have if he has bloodstone as they will make his ulit mines even more potent if the game’s gone long enough and he/they are the loosing side or they have the fighting power for Techies to set up and burst a single target down with traps or a group if they get hit with a viel. The added risk also comes in for any hero with the ability to knock an opponent back such as Magnus charge/Polarity, Dark Seer’s Vaccum, Invoker’s Deafening Blast, etc. or if they have more than force staff for added risk on your part.

Another risky thing with techies is although his right click wont do much it will add up if he stays within a lane rathert than go out of sight, trapping nearby choke points where it’s likely for someone to gank him and his partner, this can further the risk of where Techies constant harrasment can make an enemy get low enough to be taken down by his teammate if his suicide’s not enough. Blink Dagger can also be another odd thing to be seen with Techies but it should be considered if he get’s the gold for it as he can outrun someone with a blink and blast them down if they are low enough.

BEFORE SOLO QUEUE REMOVAL:-

Win rate:- 80%
Wins:-Don’t remember
Losses:-Don’t remember

Also, keep in mind that my winrate is so low because this is the account i learnt dota in, hell it is my only one. Also, i frequently feed intentionally in ranked matches as IO just because i want my MMR down to 1.(Not joking for real)

win or lose it dosent matter
its always 50/50 even for best of the best of pro dota 2 players
valve made it this way so everyone will keep strigling to get ahead but its just an idea
and it will never happen
hint : even the best players lose and there is always a losing party
the game is made on 50/50 chance to win or lose
but the problem i think is the MMR
i think they need to reset the mmr too everyone and make it abut playing game
and also remove the lose’s and keep the abadandoning part

i remmeber Garena system it was abut how many games you played to get lvled
it wasnt abut freaking win or lose
also there is no mmr or other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t
also there is no prusher in games
you can leave any game you want and get reported later on
they dont force you to play 5 games with out exp and with horrible ppl
once i dced i suferd the worst day of my life
being forced to play 5 games thats 5 hours of my time i will never get it back

TY valve i hope you truely burn in hell and the ppl behind this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea

forcing ppl to play . wen they Dc or something yah right
where is the freedom you all been talking abut
cus i clearly dont see it in your games ,, vavle keep it too your steam and leave dota out of it plz
your ideas sucks your ppl sucks you need to ask the players and not only the pro players
befor you do something ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again

Who cares for W/L anyways? If you have a good match, enjoy it.

I don’t give a damn.
I play solo queue so Valve makes me stay around 50% anyways (gotta love this “fair” matchmaking).

OP has a win rate well above .500 and people respond with stuff like “That’s because it’s always .500.

Guys, the thing with “game forces 50% winrate” is getting boring. Nobody forces it, it’s just how math works. For someone to win a game, other player needs to lose, right? So after every match there are usually 5 people winning and at least 5 people losing. HALF of them wins, HALF of them loses. If you still do not see some kind of pattern. let’s go on with some exaples regarding winrate.

To keep your winrate at 50% you would have to have ratios around (numbers in parenthese are the difference between values of won and lost matches you need to have at the point to keep your winrate):
1/1 (0), 10/10 (0), 50/50 (0), 200/200 (0), 1000/1000 (0), etc.

To keep your winrate at 33%:
1/2 (-1), 10/20 (-10), 50/100 (-50), 200/400 (-200), 1000/2000 (-1000), etc.

To keep your winrate at 75%:
3/1 (2), 30/10 (20), 150/50 (100), 600/200 (400), 3000/1000 (2000), etc.

As you can see, to keep certain ratio at the point when you played a lot of dota matches – you would need to win/lose more and more and more to keep the proportion. If you won’t your ratio will come towards 50% (will raise if you are below 50% and will come down if you are above), because that’s how math works, sorry.

And no – don’t blame matchmaking, because EVERYONE can’t have winrate above 50%, but AT MOST only HALF of all players.

win or lose it dosent matter

valve made it this way so everyone will keep strigling to get ahead but its just an idea

Dota Summit 11 – Day 3 Highlights

Our top highlights from another action-packed day at Dota Summit 11

Our third day of competition in Los Angeles is done and dusted. We saw plenty of top-tier Dota 2, let’s check out some of the highlights.

Chaos Esports Club vs jfshfh178 – Game 2

Chaos were on fire in round one of our Upper Bracket series. They faced off against CIS newcomers, 178. Game two was an especially satisfying stomp for the NA team. They overran 178 in just 22-minutes. Thanks to a double-kill around 6-minutes into the laning phase cementing their gold lead, Chaos were able to snowball quickly to a victory.

Palantimos didn’t even manage to score a single kill on his Lifestealer pick, ending the game 0/2/0. CC&C on the other hand, went 7/2/5 by game’s end.

Invictus Gaming vs HellRaisers – Game 1

Another highlight from the first round of our Upper Bracket series was the first game between IG and HellRaisers. This match was neck-and-neck, stretching on for almost an hour and a half as both teams pulled out all the stops, including divine rapiers.

This game was uncomfortably even and could have swung either way over its lengthy 85-minutes. The final score was an even 54–54, and there was only a 3.4k difference in the net worth.

In the end the victory in game one went to Invictus, thanks in no small part to the stunning performance given by Emo on his Storm Spirit. Invictus Gaming also went on to take the series, our first team to make it to the Grand Finals at this Minor.

Even so, it’s worth highlighting V-Tune’s Terrorblade in this game as well. He really did work for HR, going 23/5/14 in this game, and taking out the highest kills overall. A total of 49 across all three games.

Your first team in the #DotaSummit 11 Grand Final is @invgaming off the back of a fearsome Pudge pick! 🤯 #dota2

HellRaisers vs jfshfh178 – Game 3

Our final series of the day had a lot of tense moments. But game three definitely delivered on the entertainment. A triple-kill for HellRaisers top lane in the game’s opening seconds set the pace for this b match.

HellRaisers had a 5k net worth lead by 14-minutes into the game and were 8-kills up on 178. At just past the 20-minute mark the kills were 19–5, and HellRaisers had taken a 13k lead. This was largely in part thanks to their beautiful control of the map which provided plenty of space for Nix to get free farm on his Outworld Devourer. He finished with a 9/1/12 KDA. HellRaisers closed out the match at 27-minutes with the kills at 27–6, taking the series 2–1.

It was a disappointing end to a great run at Summit for jfshfh178. They were something of a dark horse this Minor, putting on an impressive performance throughout the groups.

There’s just one day left of our first Minor of the DPC season. Tune in to catch all the action from the Summit 11 finals live on Twitch. Be sure to follow us on Twitter for all the latest Dota 2 news and highlights.
