Let’s even take an example from the series Narcos, which just came out on Netflix.

Close, but no cigar.

Seems much better, right? Not really, but I think the colors pop out more.

Sure, it looks like a generic blockbuster movie, but I think it does the trick. The slightest change of color can change the tone and emotion of a scene entirely.

Personally, I have no clue, but in my opinion, it just makes it look better. It is called the 2:35 aspect ratio. All it does is change the framing of the shot to cover up some things you don’t really need in frame, and I already said it before, it makes it look better.

Really really simple, honestly. It’s just a bunch of effects already in SFM.

Step 1: Make sure your shot follows the Rule Of Thirds.

What is the rule of thirds? It’s a bunch of imaginary lines tha – I’m probably saying this wrong. Watch this video for a better explanation.

After you do that, it’s time for Step 2.

Step 2: Finding the effects.

They’re all down here, in the effects tab. You should already know where it is.

Right Click and select “Add Clip to Track”. A window should pop up showing many different options, you only need to understand two of them for now. Material Overlay, and Engine Post Effect.

Material Overlay is just adding a texture over the scene, so those black bars are literally just an in-game texture, just overlayed onto the camera. Dota 2 sfm ti4 cinematics Let’s go find those black bars.

What is this? No black bars?! UUUGH I WASTED MY TI – Hold on, we’re getting there. Now, right click that little clip thingy and show in element viewer.

This is what your SFM window should look like now:

Go ahead and click on the periods on the right of “materials”, a window displacing all of the materials you have in SFM should pop up.

The black bars should be named with the numbers “235” in the front, so search that.

It should be the 2nd one down.

Congrats, you now have the black bars that do no other purpose than to make it look like an actual film.. Now let’s continue, there’s one more thing.

Go back to the effects tab and this time, add an engine post effect.

SFM will now have some weird post processing effect, but we only want one thing, which is a nice detailed film grain.

You don’t NEED film grain, but I would as it gives a nice simulation of a real camera, such as dark scenes in Breaking Bad, it would look fuzzy-ish. The grain only shows up on really dark surfaces, so if your scene is unnaturally bright, probably tone it down a bit.

Also, NEVER EVER EVER RENDER IN 60FPS.(Render with 24fps.) It completely ruins the cinematic effect, and I believe that Valve created SFM with the goal of creating cinematic TF2/Dota 2/L4D/CS:GO/Portal trailers.

Biography [ edit ]

On June 16th, 2013, Solo received a lifetime ban from StarLadder for betting fraud against zRage. [1] On the 21st, Solo was officially removed from RoX after admitting his involvement. [2] Later, the ban was commuted to one year. [3]

The amount that Solo won from betting against his own team was $322, although he never received the money. Since then, Dota commentators and viewers frequently use the phrase “322” to mock particularly bad plays, implying that it almost appears that the player in question is attempting to throw the game.

He was playing on Rox. KIS for the first half of 2014 and after unsuccessful attempt dropped in TI4 qualifiers. The Rox squad disbanded and after TI4 Solo joined Team Empire. He has won Excellent Moscow Cup and left the team in December 2014.

In 2015 Solo turned up with his new team XX5 Gaming but this team had no great achievements and disbanded in a couple months later.

Later he joined Vega Squadron. Having won Hitbox EU Championship #2, Yard G2A Fest Ep.1 and Mountain Trail Challenge the team secured a slot in TI5 European Qualifiers. Vega achieved a Wild-Card slot in the qualifiers. At The International they lost to CDEC 1-2, won Team Archon 2-0 and lost to MVP Phoenix 2-1 and did not go further the tournament. Despite the fact that the team failed at TI, it didn’t disband. Vega won ESL One New York European Qualifier then won ESL One New York 2015 by beating EG, IG and Team Secret. The victory let Vega participate at The Frankfurt Major 2015 where they finished 9-12.

Vega couldn’t participate at Shanghai and Manila Majors and failed in TI6 qualifiers.

Later, in August, Virtus. Pro announced their new Dota 2 squad with XBOCT, God, Noone, Lil and Solo. The final roster was Ramzes666, Noone, 9pasha, Lil, Solo.

In October the team received an invitation to The Boston Major 2016 Europe Qualifier and managed to qualify for The Boston Major 2016. They placed 5th-8th after a 2-0 loss to Evil Geniuses.

After a dominant performance in the Kiev Major 2017 CIS Qualifier in March of 2017, Virtus. Pro went on to place 2nd at the main event. They put up an excellent performance but fell in 5 games to the 4-time Valve Major champions, OG. Their set against OG was documented in Valve’s True Sight documentary. The documentary was criticized by many to misrepresent the team dynamic of Virtus. Pro as chaotic and even hostile. Despite this, Virtus. Pro stayed with the same roster as The International 2017 season began.

After the Kiev Major, Solo’s drafting was criticized as being very one-dimensional. Solo and his team set out to prove that notion wrong at the DotA Summit 7, where they drafted 81 of the 112 available heroes in 17 games. The team had 16 drafts with entirely unique heroes, but Solo re-picked heroes in game 5 of the Grand Finals to ensure a victory over Team Secret and a first place finish at a Premiere tournament, securing them a direct invite to The International 2017.

One Esports Dota 2 Invitational talent lineup, team list revealed

ONE Esports is looking to make a big splash with its upcoming Dota 2 tournament and has put together a strong crew of casters to match its star-studded lineup of teams.

The organizer announced on Twitter that it will be bringing in most of Dota 2’s most prominent casters and analysts for the event.

Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden will be the main desk host, with Dominik “Black^” Reitmeier, Trent “TrentPax” MacKenzie, and Austin “Capitalist” Walsh serving as analysts. Working as casters are Toby “TobiWan” Dawson, Brian “BSJ” Canavan, Owen “ODPixel” Davies, and Ioannis “Fogged” Loucas. Finally, Lawrence “Malystryx” Phillips and Kyle Freedman will serve as “content creators.”

The strong lineup of talent speaks to the amount of effort ONE is investing in the event and its willingness to flex its muscles within the space.

ONE Esports is looking to make a major splash with its inaugural Dota 2 event and it is pulling out all the stops to make an impression. The lineup of top broadcast talent is meant to complement a stacked lineup of Dota 2 teams that includes:

Just based on the strong list of names there would be a lot to look forward to, but there are plenty of other interesting storylines set to play out at the event.

Team Secret and PSG. LGD are set to make their official live event debuts of the new season at the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore. Both teams looked strong at The International 2019 but opted to sit out of the MDL Chengdu Major. The trip to Singapore will be the first official games in a live setting for the recently retooled Team Secret, and will be the first taste of how PSG. LGD recovers from a rough ending to last season.

On top of that, former members of Virtus. pro will be looking to get revenge on their former team.

After flopping at TI9, the Russian team almost completely rebooted its roster. Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev landed with Evil Geniuses while Pavel “9pasha” Khvastunov joined Natus Vincere. Virtus. pro debuted its new roster in the qualifiers to the MDL Chengdu Major and had a rough go of it. RAMZES666 will be looking to devastate his former team, while 9pasha will be trying to get Natus Vincere’s season on track after a tough start.

ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore date, location, prize pool

ONE Esports’ Dota 2 debut is set to start on December 17. The event’s group stage will take place behind closed doors through December 19.

The playoffs run from December 20 to 22 and will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The event is open to the public, which should be welcome news for any Dota 2 fans in the area. Msievogt dota 2 lineups

The event is set to feature a $500,000 prize pool, with a top prize of $200,000. The event is not a part of the Dota Pro Circuit, which means there are no qualifying points up for grabs at the event and it will not count towards qualifying for The International 2020.

Dota 2 TI6: TI4 Champions Eliminated

The fourth day of the International Main Event commenced with a match of East versus West as the last European team, Liqu >

Newbee, the former TI4 champions were sent to the to the lower bracket by Evil Geniuses after an epic showdown by both teams in the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals in the Day 2 of TI6 Main Event. This time, Newbee faced Liquid in a best-of-three series in the LB elimination match.

Game One

The first match of the series began with Newbee drafting the Batrider and Lifestealer, with a strong team fight controller Naga Siren to allow them to reset or escape from Liquid. Liquid responded with a Keeper of the Light and an Ember Spirit, which was countered with a Nyx Assasin to destroy the Radiant line-up.

Liquid got off to a good start, as Kuroky got himself a double kill in the first minute of the game. FATA, on the other hand, was very effective with his early game ganks, which brought Liquid to an advantage of 9 kill score to 0 by 14 minutes into the game.

With Liquid’s advantage into the mid phase of the game, Newbee were forced to play it safe, retreating from their own Dire jungle. Liquid gave all they have to pressure Newbee from gaining any advantage thus, delaying Hao’s Lifestealer farm and Naga Siren’s Radiance, which were key for split pushing. However, all of Liquid’s heroes were capable of pushing and clearing creep waves to pressure all lanes.

As the game went on, Newbee felt the lane pressure, and they decided to send Nyx with infested Lifestealer to roam around the map and look for kills. They managed to pick off both Ember Spirit and Mirana with huge streaks to their name, and regained the Chinese team’s momentum in the game. Soon after, Naga Siren was farming well and fully slotted before the 35th minute. During that moment, Liquid went to siege Newbee’s high ground. But they were sloppy with their execution, which turned the whole situation around; Newbee won their first team fight and successfully defended their base, then claimed Roshan.

Moving forward towards the late game, Liquid found themselves losing multiple team fights to Newbee’s heroes, which became difficult to deal with. Around 45 minutes, Newbee claimed the middle barracks. This time, Liquid’s formation started to fall apart. After Liquid claimed Aegis, Newbee rushed into Roshan’s pit for another team fight, killing two of Liquid heroes. At that moment, Matumbaman decided to go for Divine Rapier to defend Newbee’s high ground aggression. With aegis in hand, Liquid decided to go for a team fight to find an opening to end the game, but Newbee’s ability to control team fights turned the scuffle around. Matumbaman lost his Divine Rapier and the first series was claimed by Newbee.

Game Two

The second game’s draft was pretty similar to the first game, but with a mix of uncommon heroes in the draft such as Chen and Undying.

First blood was spilled at top lane by Morphling on kpii’s Batrider, giving Matumbaman a good start into the early phase of the second game. Unfortunately, Chen was unable to find an opening to go for a gank on any Liquid heroes. By 10 minutes, Newbee was unable to gain any good team fights to their advantage. One team fight at the Dire jungle had crippled Newbee’s game progression, where Morphling got a triple kill to Matumbaman’s name. Shortly after, Newbee had lost their game coordination, and they got picked off all over the map. Unable to handle the pressure, they surrendered the game by 17 minutes to go for a decisive game three.

Game Three

For the final game of the series, Mirana and Shadow Demon were picked again by Liquid. Newbee picked Morphling for themselves, but Liquid gave them the Anti Mage and Axe surprise.

In the early phase of the game, both teams went full on aggressive mode, exchanging kills. Newbee managed to get four kill score, as compared to two on Liquid. Matumbaman’s Anti Mage had a fantastic early game, uncontested free farm and gaining about 10.k net worth. But Newbee’s aggression on mid tier 1 tower at 11th minute turned everything around. Liquid managed to defend their tower and turned the fight in their favor. Ater some of Newbee’s skills went on cooldown, Liquid secured four kills to their name.

Toward the 19th minute, Newbee went to contest Roshan while Liquid was inside the pit to take it down. Newbee’s attempt to ambush failed — Liquid tore them apart and won the team fight. Newbee struggled to regain momentum after the fight, in addition to the pressure of lanes being pushed towards Newbee’s base. Liquid once again dragged Newbee to another choke point to force another team fight, and Newbee had throw all their skills just to bring down Anti Mage’s Aegis.

With all Newbee’s skills on cooldown, Liquid ran over them in a devastating fight and forced the GG call at 36 minutes.

Despite a good come back by Newbee in game one, it did not deter Liquid from jumping back on the track and eliminating Newbee from TI6. Liquid secured top 8 placement and will be facing Fnatic in the following LB match.

Cloud9 dismissed Ravindu “Ritsu” Kodippili from the roster and organization, effective immediately. The discharge comes as a consequence of recent unprofessional behavior and involvement in unsportsmanlike conduct. Cloud9 was eliminated from the Frankfurt Major just prior to the action, but is unrelated.

Cloud9 issued a statement of the immediate release of Ravindu “Ritsu” Kodippili from the team, merely hours after Cloud9 was eliminated from The Frankfurt Major. The team’s performance and results were unrelated to the decision as it was based on his involvement in recent controversies regarding an anti-Digital Chaos skype group and out-of-game conduct.

Ritsu’s performance on the roster was better than I expected and while I will miss having him around as a friend and teammate, the indiscretions of his past inevitably lead towards this outcome. His recent efforts to improve his behavior came too late and following our elimination from the Major, it was determined that Cloud9 was no longer the place for him to be.

Cloud9’s General Manager, Danan Flander echoed the same sentiment as 1437 regarding the decision.

Ritsu did make a statement regarding his time with Cloud9 and his dismissal from the team.

“While it’s coming to a bittersweet end, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the guys at Cloud9. I made a consistent effort leading up to and during the Major to improve my behavior and felt that I was making progress. I feel that my play and behavior at the Major were both acceptable, but the conclusion Cloud9 drew in removing me isn’t something I can fault them for. In the end, I’m happy I had the opportunity to attend two LANS, participate in my first Major, and work with Theeban, Brax, MSS, and SVG.”

Cloud 9 at Frankfurt Major

After their previous Dota 2 squad disbanded on August 14th, Cloud 9 have decided to pick up the North-American team “Dark Horse”, just in time to meet the registration deadline for the first Dota 2 Major. The announcement about the Cloud 9 new roster was made by the team’s captain, Theeban “1437” Siva, on his Facebook page.

Cloud 9 has been demonstrating steady performances, quickly establishing themselves as a top NA team.

This season, the team has qualified for the Nanyang Championships LAN after taking down Digital Chaos, 3:0, in the Americas qualifiers’ finals. They also qualified for the MLG World Finals, on September 27th.

Stuck Establishing Connection. 24 Hour Ban WTF

I seriously don’t know what’s up with this. I just made an account because I got a 24h ban for accepting a game and not getting to load it because I never got to connect to the gameserver (Japan) multiple times. I get stuck on ‘Establishing Connection’ even though my internet is stable. This has never happened to me before but has happened today and yesterday.

Same thing happened to me on South American Servers. I accepted the queue, stuck on Connecting, then banned. It’s not consistent though, I played couple games in between. But this has been happening in the last week, haven’t seen this before.

I’m not abusing the system or anything. I have over 1.5k games over multiple years and only 6 abandons which mostly are due to random connection losses and I usually still try-hard finish the game even if it’s scored as loss for me.

This feels somewhat unjust. I understand why the system is in place, but 24h seems a lot and especially when it’s probably due to a bug or something. My network connection is fine.

Also to contribute something more than this vague bug report, here’s another thing:

On Linux the UI is broken and doesn’t show time remaining for the ban for when Normal or Ranked is selected, you can still see it if you select the Seasonal Ranked:

It’s a bit annoying especially if you don’t know that it shows up in Seasonal Ranked.

I’m facing the same problems here along with a lot of other people around the world and it started almost for 3 or 2 day so it’s not a CONNECTION ISSUE it’s something from game itself

Same problem. 24h ban for second time in a row. internet connection is good, tried to ping closest servers from CMD, got this:

I also have the same problem since Friday. At first I thought it’s from my internet, but then players from everywhere seem to have it.
I have tried many things: turning off my firewall, changing the clientport, restarting the route, rebooting the router, nothing worked
I have posted a lot of stuff on Dota 2 discussions but developers don’t read that so I thought if I post here they would help!
This is unjust Maiku indeed, but then again they might not know that this is happening. I think they will definitely notice once they see that the number of players is decreasing :S

Faced same problem after latest patch. Last week there were no problems with connection. 24h BAN is an outrage.

Dota 2 vs League of Legends: Heroes and Champions

When it comes to these MOBA, one of the most important parts is which character you play as. Called Champions in League of Legends and Heroes in Dota 2, there are different approaches to design and release, as well as their various roles. Oh, and don’t forget the controversies about copying.

Across both games, Champions/Heroes are generally seen as falling into one of three general categories: Tank (who can give and receive plenty of damage), Support (who, um, support the other characters), and Carry (who deal a lot of damage per second (DPS) but can take a while to get to that point, hence needing to be carried towards the mid/end game). These can be further subdivided into Ganker (essentially an assassin who gets in and kills other characters), Pusher (the one who keeps “pushing” the lane forward and striving to take out towers), Jungler (who roams around the jungles, leveling up on other creatures and moving from lane to lane as needed) and Initiator (who “initiates” team fights, etc). of course there can be overlap in roles, so you may find the Ganker is generally the Initiator and might tend towards being a Carry. Supports, typically strong early game, might act as Tanks at time until other characters advance enough to take on that role.

League of Legends

Current Champion count = 119

LoL follows a unique approach to Champions. Each one is built for a specific role in the game – as explained before, the “meta” is incredibly important in LoL and players rarely deviate from the assumed roles of each Champion. However, with so many champions, there is a ton of variety.

In relation to roles, there are plenty of Champions to chose from who fill the various positions, and even overlap between roles. For example, Mordekaiser could be described as a tank thanks to his shield that replenishes when attacking, but some abilities are more magically oriented, so he could also be a mage/DPS Champion. Abilities are generally divided in Ability Power (AP) or Attack Damage (AD); AP scales magical abilities to damage or heal/buff while AD increases physical damage. AD damage is generally reduced by armor whereas AP damage is reduced by magic resist – this helps to further subdivide Champions into physical damage based or magical damage based. For the most part, Champions tend towards one or the other with a select few doing well in both.

Aesthetically, each Champion has a variety of skins available. These change the look and feel of the champion, as well as some of their animations or sound effects. For example, Fiddlesticks goes from being a creepy scarecrow to an equally creepy party scarecrow, complete with party horn and confetti. Skins are released on a regular basis – often every week or so – and are available for purchase with real money. Champions are on a weekly rotation for free, but you can also buy them with game currency or real money so that you always have access to your favourite champions. New champions are released every few months to much fanfare and video teasing.

Current Hero count = 107

Thanks to the powers and timing of activated items in Dota 2, players have a bit more flexibility about how they use the different Heroes. While there are specific roles that some might tend towards with certain Heroes, they can more easily move from one play style to another and the professionals often make unusual (and wildly successful) choices in this regard.

Rather than using skins to change the aesthetic of Heroes, Dota 2 relies on items and gear. These can be player created and are available for purchase in the in-game shop, or can be received at random at the end of a match. While these can sometimes change the gameplay animations or even abilities, they are mostly there for design customization.

Heroes in Dota 2 are mostly remakes of their predecessors in Dota 1. Some names had to be changed, but for the most part they are the same characters. As such, it isn’t as much for a surprise when new Heroes are introduced – there are only five remaining Heroes from Dota 1 that need to make their debut in Dota 2, after which point we may see a new direction in the form of new characters. Heroes do not need to be purchased; following the initial training matches, Dota 2 players have access to all the Heroes.

Allegations of copying

Dota was the first, and most instantly wildly popular MOBA. While mechanics and gameplay differ between the two, many people like to compare and say that LoL copied Dota when designing certain champions. One often cited example is that Ashe is a copy of the Drow Ranger. Now, the idea of an archer shooting ice-powered arrows isn’t exactly unique, however their designs are rather similar. That said, their actual abilities/skills are rather different. Other examples might be Urgot and Pudge or Corki and Gyrocopter. However, again, these rely on many character archetypes in gaming and all have rather varied gameplay mechanics.

There are many characters that are used as comparisons between the MOBA, however these rely on the roles more than the design per se. For example, two Jungler Carry characters would have more in common if their skills were vaguely similar, regardless of aesthetic differences.

In the end, it all comes down to player preferences. Personally, I hate playing as a Tank or Support and tend towards playing long-ranged Carry characters. I play a mean Tristana (I know, I’m the only one who likes her) or Miss Fortune, and I’m hoping to get good at Drow or Sniper. Who are your Champions/Heroes of choice? Do you tend to stay in your assigned role, or are you more of a renegade in that regard?
