Here in our Dota 2 support guide, we discuss the basics of supporting, why you should start playing support and how to get good at it.

Why You Should Play Support

Dota 2 support players who actually know what they’re doing are pretty scarce. But, when you find one in pubs, you’re pretty much assured of a good win. No matter how good of a carry you are, if your enemy’s supports are great at leading their team and choking your vision, you’ll have very little room to farm and take over the time.

Below are a few pros and cons of playing as a Dota 2 support.

  • You can come online starting from minute zero
  • Your impact throughout the game, especially early to mid, is huge
  • You’re pretty much the de-facto leader of your team and will actually be looked at to lead a five-man stack (almost every top-tier team’s captain plays support, just like at Alexei ‘Solo‘ Berezin, Peter ‘ppd‘ Dager, Clement ‘Puppey‘ Ivanov).
  • Good luck making flashy plays
  • Your farm will be well below the priority list, and most of your gold will be spent on Observer Wards, Sentry Wards, Smoke of Deceit, Dust of Appearance, and anything else that your team might need
  • Your impact late in the game pretty much depends on how you space you can create by stalling and luring the enemy team to kill you
  • You’re pretty much reliant on your carry to win the game for you if the game goes late
  • Getting RAMPAGE on a support is nothing but a wet dream
  • You will die. A LOT.

As you can see, there are a lot more cons to pros when it comes to playing as a Dota 2 support. So, you may ask yourself, why should I play support? Well, the answer really is, you don’t have to. It’s not everyone. The same goes for the carry role. Pick one that best suits your character and the way you want to play the game. Although it wouldn’t hurt to know how to play as a support.

Fun fact: With a base damage of 62-70 (and +25 from his Strength at Lvl 1), Treant Protector has the highest damage output early game. The hero can easily trade hits with anybody, making him very good at zoning enemy heroes out of the lane, especially melee offlaners.

Be a Dota 2 Support Player If You Want To

  • Want to support other people
  • Want to make an impact in the game with basic items and your own skill

Watching your carry destroy enemy team, knowing that it’s all happening because of your effort in the early game can be a very satisfying experience (works for me!)

But before we go into deeper things like warding, pulling, roaming, and so on, let’s define what a Dota 2 support player means.

The support role in Dota 2 is about giving your team every possible advantage. You see, in Dota 2, there are what we call macro games, which are all the flashy fights and moves that you see in highlight videos, and then there are the micro games, which are all the small things that add up throughout the game that gives a team an advantage against the other; a tower destroyed or defended gives gold to your cores, grants your team vision, prevents the enemy team from farming and gives you map control.

It is the job of a Dota 2 support player to provide the condition for his or her team to take down the enemy Ancient; your carry needs to get more space to farm more than the enemy carry, your mid must have an easier time during the laning phase, and your offlane needs to have a good game or at least not die a lot, and it’s your job to make sure that happens.

Biography [ edit ]

w33’s was born and raised in Romania with a Syrian father. Apart from Romanian, w33 is proficient in both English and Arabic. He began playing DotA in 2004, switching over to Dota 2 in 2011. Prior to pursuing a professional DotA career, w33 studied chemical engineering at university.

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Over time, w33 grew into a well-known pubstar. He obtained the highest MMR of any player for a significant amount of time, even becoming the first player to breach 8000 MMR. His first team was Balkan Bears, a team that he built with friends and other high-level players. Although the team failed to achieve good tournament results, w33 was able to showcase his exceptional ability at playing solo mid, going toe to toe with some of the top-tier mids. w33 became particularly known for his ability to play Meepo, who was considered a niche and unconventional pick.

After Balkan Bears disbanded, w33 was invited to join the team MeePwn’d alongside veteran players such as H4nn1 and pieliedie. However, the team did not manage to produce any significant results and disbanded two months after formation. However, w33 did not remain teamless for long, as he quickly returned to Balkan Bears. Two months later, w33 was offered to join 4 Clover & Lepricon with veterans such as Pajkatt and EGM. This time w33’s team managed to produce some results, winning minor tournaments such as GIGABYTE Challenge #15 and MSI Dragon Battle 6. Three months later, w33 was invited by Puppey to be a part of a rebuilt Team Secret alongside EternaLEnVy, MiSeRy and pieliedie.

During his time at Team Secret, w33 had large amounts of success. Much of this success came from w33’s solo mid play on Windranger, Invoker, and Meepo. Team Secret won multiple premier-level LAN events such as the MLG World Finals and the Nanyang Dota 2 Championships. Although they were among the best teams in the world in terms of tournament performance at the time, they were upset in the first Dota 2 Major, the Frankfurt Major by OG, ending up in second place. After the major, Team Secret looked shaky but nevertheless continued onto the next major with the same roster, the Shanghai Major, which they won handily. Despite w33’s solid solo mid performances during his time on the team, he was removed from the team in the post-Shanghai Major reshuffle.

With not much time remaining before the next major’s roster lock, w33 was cons >[1] He believed that as underdogs, the pressure and expectation would be less and he would perform better. After an eventful series, he finished runners-up in the tournament, losing to Wings Gaming 3-1 in the grand finals.

Following the International, w33 and his team sustained mixed success into the new year; victorious in ESL One Genting 2017 but several underperformances during the competitive season led to the departure of the team, and reformation to Thunderbirds. The reformation was short-lived and w33 spent a year playing for various European teams, later flying to Brazil to play for PaiN Gaming in April 2018. [2]

Oracle

FORTUNE’S END – Сфокусируйте свои силы в снаряд выжигающей энергии, которая останавливает врагов и снимает с них положительные эффекты.

FATE’S EDICT – Ненадолго одарите свою цель иммунитетом к магии, увеличив остальной урон по ней и лишив ее возможности атаковать.

PURIFYING FLAMES – Мгновенно обожгите союзника или врага, а затем постепенно вылечите их.

FALSE PROMISE – Придайте союзнику невидимость при движении и атаке, задерживая весь полученный им урон и лечение до того момента, как заклинание иссякнет.

MANIFOLD PARADOX

Biography [ edit ]

Team Shakira and Western Wolves [ edit ]

7ckngMad’s professional Dota 2 career started with Team Shakira in 2011. The team first gained notability after placing 4th in Dreamhack Winter 2011 and shortly after Sébastien, along with the rest of the team, was picked up by Western Wolves. mTw and The International 2012 [ edit ]

The new mTw squad managed to win the organisations first tournament and went on to beat Next. kz in the finals of the West Qualifiers for The International 2012, qualifying for the main event. The team continued having success in almost every tournament it took part in, most notably winning DreamHack Summer 2012. Going into The International 2012 the team was considered as one of the top contenders.

After only a short while the German player Angelo “THEneNo-” Gonzalez dec >[6] Following another time of roster stability issues, the team, now featuring Airat “Silent” Gaziev and Artur “Goblak” Kostenko, entered the qualifier for The International 2013. After placing second in the West Qualifier they faced Chinese team RattleSnake in the Wildcard Match. Before the wildcard match the team was signed by Quantic Gaming and therefore entered the tournament as Quantic.

The wildcard game ended in a heartbreaking fashion for 7ckinMad and his team. After two games the score was tied but RattleSnake managed to take the last two games of the series in a dominating fashion. Rattlesnake managed to eliminate Quantic 3-1 both due to good play from their own team but also misplays from Quantic, with the most famous one being Sockshka stunning a Beastmaster Boar due to a misclick that could otherwise have stunned three enemy heroes. The new team, featuring 7ckngMad, Sockshka, Mikkel “miGGel” Berg, Adrian “FATA-” Trinks and Brian “MaNia” Strandby, first went under the name DD. However, Sigma had mixed results at LANs, being able to achieve success at ESWC, Dota 2 Champion’s League and Starladder, but having early departures thereafter. Eventually, a last place finish at DreamLeague due to disqualification sealed the team’s fate, and 7ckngMad was left to wander around multiple teams.

Alliance [ edit ]

After short stints on various teams, 7ckngMad was taken in by Alliance, but the team posted mediocre results. After failing to qualify for The International 2015, the team seemed to be on the road to recovery, with top 4 placings at DreamLeague and joinDota MLG Pro League Season 2. However, it turned out to be for nothing, as an early departure from ESL One Frankfurt 2015 would be 7ckngmad’s last tournament with Alliance. After parting ways with Alliance, 7ckngMad began wandering the scene once more.

Late 2015 & OG [ edit ]

7ckngMad progressively lost prominence as an active player, with low placings on Monkey Freedom Fighters and Kaipi. After serving as an analyst at the Shanghai Major, 7ckngMad became OG’s coach and was able to once again show his skills through the team’s results. As OG’s coach, 7ckngMad proceeded to oversee the team’s victories and dominance at the Frankfurt, Manila, Boston and Kiev Majors, all of which were won by OG. Following Resolut1on’s departure in March 2018, he was a stand-in player until June before officially filling the offlane position for The International 2018.

Dota 2 world artifact worth it

Dota 2 world artifact worth it

Dota 2 world artifact worth it

Is Artifact, the Dota card game, worth the price?

Artifact, the new digital trading card game based on the Dota 2 universe, is already out. Many that have been looking to pick up the game are still on the fence because of its hefty $20 price tag, however. If you’re one of those people, read on to find out if the game is worth its price.

At purchase, Artifact players will get 10 card packs, 5 event tickets, and two starter decks. Those two starter decks feature the hero cards Necrophos and Ogre Magi to help beginners get started. While those two heroes can do well enough as the centerpieces of their decks, they are better used in conjunction with other stronger heroes. How do you get those other heroes? You can get your first ones in the 10 card packs that come with the purchase.

Each card pack contains 12 random cards; with a hero card, two item cards, and at least one rare card guaranteed to be drawn.

We recommend deciding on decks the decks you want to play before opening the card packs however. After knowing the cards you need for your desired deck, open your free card packs, keep the ones needed in your deck or are too valuable to sell, sell the ones that aren’t, then buy the ones you missed individually with what you recouped from the cards you sold. Buying additional packs to fill out your repertoire can be tedious and pricy, as they cost $1.99

After that, there can be two ways you can go about playing the game. Artifact’s monetization model is very different from that of other free-to-play card games which indeed makes it seem to pricey to pick up, but the game offers many ways to give you your money’s worth. You can either pay more to get more out of the game, or try out the game’s ‘free’ modes:

One of the game’s casual modes is Phantom Draft, in this mode you and other players create your decks from a pool of free cards and battle it out until you either rack up five wins or two losses. This mode offers no prizes, but you can play as much as you want.

Another mode you can try is Casual Constructed, where you and other players pick from decks you own and play until you reach the same five win or two losses threshold. Much like Casual Phantom Draft, this mode can be played infinitely.

If you feel confident enough in your skills, you can try your hand at the game’s Expert modes. These work pretty much the same as the casual ones, but the difference is that you have to get event tickets to play them first. However, if you do well enough you can win prizes through these modes. Event tickets are sold in bundles of five for $4.95

If you feel like the game is too pricey, you can always sell the 10 free card packs you get at purchase to get your $20 back on the Steam Marketplace. You can either use that to get the cards you want or even buy other games on Steam.

We hope that helped you decide whether you want to pick up the game or not. Whatever the case may be, it’s safe to say that Artifact is really taking things towards a new direction with its monetization model.

Dota 2 Battle Pass: The International 2019 compendium qualifier picks

The International 2019 will feature 18 top Dota 2 teams.

12 of them were decided through the Dota Pro Circuit, with elites like Virtus. pro and Team Secret locking up spots early, while Keen Gaming and Alliance squeaked their way more recently. The remaining teams will be decided through qualifiers, with each of the six regions sending a single qualifying representative to Shanghai.

To raise awareness and to give fans an extra layer of intrigue, qualifier predictions have become a staple of The International compendium that is included in each year’s battle pass. Players have the chance to earn a few extra levels for their battle pass by picking out which teams will make the cut from each region.

That’s easier said than done. Dota 2 is always a tough game to predict, and when most of the best teams already have a spot locked up and the rest are constantly shuffling their rosters, it’s hard to parse the hierarchy without paying close attention to the goings on in the scene.

We at WIN. gg have put in the hours to watch film and look over tournament results to pick out the favorites from each region. Here are the picks to help you get the most out of your TI9 battle pass

North America: Forward Gaming finally arrives

North America has had a rough 2019 in Dota 2.

The region actually panned out to be fairly deep at TI8 thanks to strong showings from OpTic Gaming and VGJ. Storm and looked promising heading into this season with an interesting CompLexity Gaming lineup and new squads like Marchoutofarmy popping up. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long before everything went off the rails with teams constantly changing rosters and rarely getting better as a result.

Evil Geniuses has earned their spot at TI9 already, but past that, the qualifiers are basically up for grabs.

Forward Gaming is the best bet. The lineup has struggled throughout the year and has failed to live up to the high expectations pinned on them early on, but has gotten the better of other contenders J. Storm and Complexity Gaming more often than not.

Other options: J. Storm, CompLexity Gaming

Europe: Chaos Esports Club grows new roots

Europe has been the most successful Dota 2 region throughout the year, and after the Epicenter Major it is set to send five different teams to The International. The trouble is that with Team Secret, Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, OG, and Alliance all earning direct invitations, all of the sure things are out of the qualifier running.

The Final Tribe has been a steady presence on the European scene throughout the season and has been competitive with the likes of NiP and Alliance in months past, but isn’t operating at a level where they should be looked at as the favorites to win. Because of that, we’re looking to the reformed Chaos Esports Club as the team to beat in Europe.

Chaos was a South American staple for much of the year, but went across the Atlantic to Europe after washing out of the MDL Disneyland Paris Major. In the weeks since, they’ve pulled together an interesting new roster that includes former Team Liquid star Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen and former Team Secret offlaner Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann.

They haven’t yet had much opportunity to gel, but the talent and experience on the lineup has us favoring them over other teams.

Other options: The Final Tribe, Aachen City Esports

China: Royal Never Give Up perseveres

China is an incredibly difficult region to pick because it has a lot of teams that have shown flashes of greatness during the season but have struggled to stay on top for long. As such, China has a long list of contenders that have the tools to win a spot at TI9.

Precedent suggests that the two favorites are Royal Never Give Up and EHOME. The two teams have looked solid for most of the year and managed to qualify for the final two events of the season. Royal Never Give Up gets the nod based on a decent showing at the Epicenter Major, but they still have a big fight ahead of them.

Other Options: EHOME, Royal

South America: Team Anvorgesa and Infamous become kings of SA Dota 2

South America is a complete mess right now. Chaos Esports Club was the one constant in the region and since they left, no other team has even been able to stay together long enough to make a serious run.

The only South American team out there that has beaten pro competition from outside the region is Team Anvorgesa. The international 3 dota 2 compendium The Peruvians managed to clear the group stage at the StarLadder Minor in June and eliminated Winstrike and EHOME in the process.

Their body of work is small because the team didn’t actually come together until the StarLadder Minor qualifiers, but they’re pretty much the only proven option here. Hopefully they will get an extra boost from being newly sponsored by South American organization Infamous.

Other Options: PaiN Gaming

CIS: Gambit Esports finally gets respect

The only region with a clear-cut favorite to win is CIS. That favorite is Gambit Esports.

Gambit has been a solid competitor throughout the year, and while they haven’t been able to consistently qualify for majors, they’ve proven themselves as a top team on a number of occasions with strong showings at tournaments like ESL One Katowice and WePlay! Dota 2 Valentine Madness.

They’ll still have quite a bit of competition on their hands with teams like Natus Vincere and Team Spirit, but Gambit is the safest pick in the qualifiers.

Other Options: Natus Vincere, Team Spirit

Southeast Asia: Mineski gets back on track

Fnatic and TNC Predator are both solid teams, but past that Southeast Asia has struggled with roster turnover throughout the year. That hasn’t slowed down with the TI9 qualifiers fast approaching and now it’s a matter of parsing past results with the pure talent on a team’s roster. The best blend in the region is Mineski.

While this has been a generally rough season for the team, they’ve still found a handful of successes and have hung around as the third best team in the region. The big X-factor is their recent release of Lai “Ahjit” Jay Son in favor of Bulgarian player Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov. The team won’t have much opportunity to practice with him and it’s hard to feel especially confident in the side because of that. Still, they have enough of a resume to go with here over other talented teams like BOOM ID and Geek Fam.

While the interest from the users on this site seems to have gone down, judging from the number of posts on KDL threads, I think Dota is actually getting more popular in Korea. Zephyr titan dota 2 Not anywhere near LoL or Starcraft by any means, but it’s at least going up.
And season 4 seems like it’s going to be the most competitive season of the 4 so far, which is exciting.

But who is doing the english casting?

6 months, and I feel like that’s not enough to truly develop a synergy for most teams, my team included. Not only that, but the players are new as well. The skill is definitely here, as it is korean gaming nature, but dota is not starcraft, pure micro and macro management skill does not bring victories alone. There are small, seemingly insignificant mechanics of dota that take years of experience to completely comprehend.

As someone mentioned Korean dota dying, I don’t think that’s the case, it’s getting more and more popular here. However the games are not bringing much international interest because there are no big names for foreigners to relate to, and when there was (when Merlini, purge, and the netherlands guy came) the spike in international interest was clear. Not only that, a good amount of money is getting pumped into Korean dota. Zephyr titan dota 2 Even for tier 2, if your team goes 5-0 that’s $11

12,000 the team can make, just for 5 games. Same with the nexon sponsorship stuff, zephyr won $60,000 from like 8 easy games.

I have lots of hope for korean doto, but at this point I do think they should also promote a chinese league that includes korean teams as well, just so korea has something else to play besides KDL. Plus we’re pretty close so ping and maybe offline matches wouldn’t be an issue

Semi-Finals

Plus we’re pretty close so ping and maybe offline matches wouldn’t be an issue

re: china vs korea matches i doubt the ping is going to be that great on perfect world servers, when Titan/Orange played in WPC-ACE they were at a severe ping disadvantage since they had to play on PW servers (so much so that for the next season they just traveled to china for a week and played all their WPC matches at that time)

I’m pretty sure that they traveled down because it was a requirement for all the matches to be played on LAN for WPC.

Pay-2-Win: Dota 2’s most expensive couriers

Pay-2-Win is a new series where we take a look at the coolest, rarest and most expensive gaming memorabilia on the market. Scrubs need not apply.

With The International 7 looming on the horizon, Pay-2-Win will focus on some Dota 2 cosmetics you’d need a cut of a $20 million prize pool to afford. Namely, some of the most expensive couriers on the marketplace.

Legacy Trusty Mountain Yak

Who would have thought a simple beast of burden could be one of the most sought after couriers in Dota 2, let alone one bearing a $900 price tag?

The Legacy Trusty Mountain Yak is only worth it if you’re willing to spend a paycheck on a cosmetic item in a game that’s ostensibly free-to-play.

Originally released in the in-game store back in 2012 when Dota 2 was still in Beta, it was removed for purchase in 2013. Surprisingly, this most trusty yak has a deeper backstory than you would expect, as it bears some sort of magical mask according to its item description:

“This trusty Yak bears a thrice-blessed Mask of Duty, as is required of all those noble beasts who might serve in battle.”

Then again, who cares about Dota lore to begin with?

Frozen Pudgling

Brr, is it cold in here? Or is it just the Frozen Pudgeling? Offered during Dota 2’s Christmas event Frostivus 2013, this courier features a chillier, chibi version of everyone’s favorite hook-wielding hero.

The Frostivus event had a number of gift boxes available for “Phantom Fragments” acquirable through the Wraith Night co-op mode that saw you defending the Wraith King’s altar from 13 waves of baddies before taking on the big man himself.

As sweet as it would be to pair this pint-sized Pudge with the full-size version, it’ll cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,650.28 USD on the Steam Marketplace.

Unusual Golden Baby Roshan / Unusual Platinum Baby Roshan

The rarest of the Baby Roshan couriers, the Unusual Platinum and Unusual Golden versions of Baby Roshan were given out to players who managed to make it to the Sugar Rush Hall of Fame during the 2012 and 2013 Diretide Halloween events.

To make it to the Hall of the Fame, you and your team had to last as long as possible against a super-buffed version of Roshan who would continually respawn with an extra 15,000 health, 5 percent more Magic Resistance, and could refresh your abilities randomly once per life.

If you missed the events or just felt no inclination to spend hours trying not to die against an un-killable monster just for the chance of earning the courier, you can purchase a platinum one on the marketplace for a cool $1,798.11 USD. If you want to cheap out, you can go for the golden version which is currently a steal at $1,684.17 USD.

Note: All marketplace prices are as of July 26, 2017

Dendi

Danil “Dendi” Ishutin (born December 30, 1989) is a Ukrainian professional Dota 2 and former DotA player. Well known for his solo mid skills, he is regarded as one of the most creative players in the scene today, and is renowned for his unorthodox play style and unconventional skill and item builds. After having played for Natus Vincere for the entirety of his professional Dota 2 career, he finally departed the active roster for the first time in September 2018. He currently plays for The Pango.

Biography [ edit ]

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, Dendi got an early start with competitive gaming in net cafes when his elder brother married, moved out and took the family’s PC with him. Dabbling with Counter-Strike first, he soon found Warcraft 3 where he played in local tournaments and built a love for the competition and a thirst to be the best. Though he was quite successful in Warcraft 3 and even won a few local championships in Lviv, he knew he had found his calling when he stumbled upon DotA. He picked up the game quickly and played it almost exclusively over the next few months.

Beginning with learning only supports, he practiced heavily and was quickly vouched to the IHCS1 league and soon created his own team for tournaments in Lviv. After he led his team to a championship in Kiev, he was drafted by a team called “Wolker. Gaming” and began his professional career at 17.

DotA [ edit ]

Dendi started playing professionally with WG in 2006. [1] He was a part of the Ukrainian squad that finished third in MYM Prime Nations the same year. Only a few months later WG made it to the grand final of one of the most prestigious tournaments at the time; MYM Prime Defending. [2] When Kingsurf. international merged with WG the next year he became a full-time member of Ks. int. [1] In late 2008 he joined DTS, only to return to Ks. int in March 2009. [3] Three months later though, Dendi returned to DTS. [4] The team would end up finishing 2nd at ESWC 2010. At the end of 2010, Dendi and DTS finished 3rd at the prestigious WDC 2010. [5] Dendi joined Natus Vincere at the end of 2010. [6]

Dota 2 [ edit ]

Dendi started his Dota 2 career with Na’Vi, who quickly established themselves as one of the best teams in the world by winning The International 2011. Na’Vi continued to dominate and won many tournaments in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013. Dendi was the center of Na’Vi’s consistent stable and skilled rosters, with his performance greatly contributing to their success.

The Natus Vincere Dota 2 team achieved significant success with Dendi as their midlaner during the first few years of the game; they finished as the runners-up for both The International 2012 and The International 2013, losing out to Invictus Gaming and Alliance, respectively. 2013 would mark the last year of Na’Vi and Dendi’s dominance in the Dota 2 scene, as they only recorded two LAN victories since January 2014. The International 2014 saw Na’Vi and Dendi finishing the tournament outside of the top 2 for the first time and the following two Internationals, TI 5 and TI 6, they would finish in last place. The results would deteriorate further, as they would fail to even qualify for The International 2017, they failed to advance out of the group stage of the regional qualifiers. This marked the first year of The International tournaments without Dendi attending as a player. The 2017/18 season started of promising for Dendi and Na’Vi, who dominated the CIS scene in the early months, crowning their improving results with their second LAN victory since 2014. However, the second half of the season saw the roster break apart and finally the team would fail to even reach the regional qualifiers for The International 2018, after losing in the open qualifier.

Four years of roster instability and poor results finally took their toll on the reputation of the Na’Vi organization and on Dendi’s status as a legendary player and a top tier midlaner. After 8 years playing mid on Na’Vi, Dendi was finally removed from the active roster in September 2018. However, Dendi vowed to continue playing professionally. After a brief stint on Tigers, Dendi joined The Pango.
