Scanning [ edit ]

Players can use the Scan ability on the right of the minimap UI to detect any enemy heroes in an area. Dota 2 minimap size

Controls [ edit ]

  • Right clicking anywhere on the minimap will command the hero to move to that location. However, there is a delay of 0.2 seconds, where clicks will not be registered. This is to prevent missclicks.
  • Ground-target abilities, such as Wrath of Nature , can be cast by clicking on the minimap.
  • Clicking on the minimap while using Town Portal Scroll or Boots of Travel will teleport the hero to the specified location’s nearest allied building.

Pinging [ edit ]

  • Alt + Left Clicking on the minimap will alert your team about a location by Link▶️ playing a sound and showing an exclamation mark on their minimap.
    • Clicking buildings will play a different sound depending on the building’s alliance, and generally mean a Link▶️ defense / Link▶️ attack of the building is desired.
    • Clicking enemy heroes will play the same sound as on enemy buildings, typically to announce the desire to attack.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Left Clicking on the minimap will alert your team by Link▶️ playing a different sound and showing an X on their minimap, generally indicating danger.

Drawing [ edit ]

Holding down both Ctrl and the left mouse button while moving your cursor over the minimap will draw lines on the minimap. These lines can be seen by all allied players, and their color corresponds to the color of the player. Lines will fade after a few seconds.

Lina, the Slayer, is a ranged Intelligence hero, adept at destroying enemy heroes quickly by delivering massive bursts of magical damage, making her one of the most effective gankers in the game. She possesses immense damaging capabilities all throughout the game, but is very fragile. Two of her fiery spells are her main source of damage, Dragon Slave sends a wave of fire to burn enemies in her path while Light Strike Array stuns them with a concentrated pillar of solar flame. Each of her spells deals great damage early on and has a low cooldown. Her Fiery Soul bolsters her attack and movement speed every time she casts a spell, which gives her scaling damage for the later game. Laguna Blade, her ultimate, is her ace in the hole. Lina fires off a huge bolt of lightning at a single target, dealing colossal damage. Laguna Blade’s damage is staggering in early-mid game, and late game is still enough to destroy frail enemy heroes. Dragon Slave, Light Strike Array, and Laguna Blade are incredible flaming nukes that can incinerate her target instantly, and Fiery Soul allows her to transition into a strong and fast physical attacker. Though her power falls from its peak late game, mana-boosting and damage-increasing items can be purchased to keep herself up.

  • Can hit units up to 1275 ( 1375) range away (travel distance + end radius).
  • The complete area is shaped like a cone.
  • Light Strike Array destroys trees within the affected radius.
  • Light Strike Array first applies the debuff, then the damage.
  • The visual effects and the sound during the 0.5 second effect delay are only visible and audible to allies.
  • Lina has two different animations for this spell, leading to two possible cast backswing durations.
  • Using items does not trigger Fiery Soul.
  • Each spell cast refreshes the duration of the whole stack, making it theoretically possible to permanently have max stacks on.
  • At 2 stacks the buff grants 10%/12%/14%/16% ( 14%/16%/18%/20%) movement speed and 80/110/140/170 ( 140/170/200/230) attack speed.
  • At 3 stacks the buff grants 15%/18%/21%/24% ( 21%/24%/27%/30%) movement speed and 120/165/210/255 ( 210/255/300/345) attack speed.
  • Places a debuff on the target, which applies the damage upon expiring. The debuff lasts 0.25 seconds.
    • This means the spell can be avoided by being invulnerable or hidden (or spell immune when not upgraded) as the debuff expires.

  • Null Talisman gives attributes so Lina can get last hits.
  • Iron Branch prov >Clarity sustains mana so Lina can keep using abilities, threatening enemies more.
  • Magic Stick is useful since Lina is squishy and has multiple high-cost low-cooldown spells picking up Magic Stick can increase her early staying power greatly.
  • Boots of Speed helps Lina get into position to land her abilities while avo >Bottle is a common pickup for Lina when playing in the mid lane.
  • Phase Boots ‘s attack damage complements Fiery Soul to increase Lina’s damage output.

  • Shadow Blade can be useful for a carry Lina, as it helps her to cast Light Strike Array while invisible, and also prov >Scythe of Vyse gives her team an important disable that also helps to ensure she lands Light Strike Array. Furthermore, its attribute bonuses will make her a bit more survivable and drastically improve her mana regeneration.
  • Crystalys prov >Daedalus or Bloodthorn depending on your preference.
  • Black King Bar is sometimes picked up when Lina is carrying, especially against teams with many disables.
  • Shiva’s Guard both helps with Lina’s mana regeneration problems as well as her low armor value while also benefiting her team with Shiva’s Guard’s aura and active ability.
  • Rod of Atos prov >Octarine Core ‘s lifesteal gives more survival potential in teamfights. Also, it gives a huge intelligence boost, as well as a greater ability to spam spells.

Dazzle is strong at all ranks of the game, but if you lose 6 games in a row as the same hero, you’re doing something wrong.
Midas is absolute garbage on him for one and is pure greed. You don’t need it to be an effective Pos4. Lots of items is also uneccesary, you only need one staple item, and the rest is dependent on how your Pos3 is building.
Staples are Arcane Boots. Your Pos3 should be building themselves fairly tanky with Mek or Pipe, and eventually Greaves. As a Pos4, you need to focus on utility items that aid in fights and/or save your skin. Rod of Atos, Eul’s, Glimmer Cape, Ghost Sceptre, and Aeon Disk should be your go to items, depending on you and the enemy’s team comp. Every now and then it will be neccesary you grab a Mek into Greaves, if your Pos3 needs to focus more on tank+initiation items.

You will never be able to buy all of those items in a single game unless it’s dragging on to 70+ minutes, in which case there are probably more niche items you’ll need to tip the scales. You need to read the game carefully and pick the best item for the situation to best ensure your chance of success. All being a Pos4 means is you get the same farm asa Pos5, but you put it towards items instead of consumables.

With dazle you are the one who should die, to try help you cores to escape. So die when midas is almost ready, is bad.
With that money you can build a force staff or a mek. Midas is maybe good on a mid dazle with + damage tree talent. Void wk slark and other cores get it for its atack speed bonus, not just for getting extra money.

yeah but thats the thing, if I skip midas and save up for force staff or mek, I end up purchasing it at around the same time as if I bough midas earlier, since I will also be able to earn more gold once I get midas.

this makes no sense, since midas is the same price as a force staff. if you skip midas and go force staff you should be getting it atleast the same time you should’ve been building your midas.

i typically like to get the medalian and a blight stone on 4th position dazzle. stacks well with his ulti ability. use medalian > heal something, use Q, right click the person and they have like -20 armor, if your core can’t secure the kill + the damage they take from poison alone should be able to solo kill a cm (since the poison is physical damage, with that much minus armor they take insane dmg). plus the medalian + blight stone together cost around 1k gold. cheaper than going for a force staff or a midas, and gives you and your core more kill potential.

E// and after my medallian, blight stone, i ofcourse go boots, but i dont always go mana boots. it depends on what their team has, if i know i’m going to have insane minus armor then i’ll probably go phase boots, not for dps, but for survivability. (since it has armor). and at this point depending on how well i’m doing my next item might be euls, shadowblade, bkb, force staff, or agh’s. depends on their lineup. shadow blade = when you use it, it applies the debuff, and when you break invisibility it add’s an extra. Dazzle dota 2 items . 150 dmg i think? i can’t recall. rest of the items are self explanitory.

Reviewing The New Items of Dota 2

In addition to new heroes and balance changes, patch 7.07 also brought five new items into the game. Arguably, it is an even bigger change than the introduction of new heroes, because items can be purchased on virtually any hero, opening up a lot of possibilities.

Three weeks after the update, we will look in what these new items bring to the table and how they have changed the way the heroes are played.

Meteor Hammer

Meteor Hammer is considered a bit of a joke in the community and even more so in the professional scene. It sounds good on paper, with a 690 magic damage nuke to heroes and 375 to buildings, but the channeling cast time coupled with all over the place stats makes it a very niche pick.

So far, the only professional player who has been getting it somewhat consistently is coL. Zfreek on his position four Nature’s Prophet. It allows Nature’s Prophet to use Meteor Hammer from the trees, outside of the enemy vision, for some extra split-pushing power. It is worth noting, however, that Complexity is currently in an excellent shape and can outright outplay most of the NA competition, including Evil Geniuses, so it is up for debate, whether this item has a significant impact on the outcome of their games.

With a total price of 2625 gold, it is relatively close to items such as Eul’s Scepter, Veil of Discord, Solar Crest, Pipe of Insight, Force Staff and many more. Hence the actual value of the item is unclear — the Dota staples are so common for a reason, with a lot of utility in many in-game situations. Meteor Hammer looks a lot more gimmicky in comparison.

The item isn’t bad by any means, but it is certainly very situational. It is a decent follow-up stun and damage for big combo plays, it can enhance the push for a team that lacks building damage and can be even used in team compositions which lack hard lockdown, but have a lot of slows, sleeps, roots and banishes.

On natural Aether Lens carriers with cast range talents, it can also be used for decent chip damage on high ground structures with relative safety. High ground breaches are a lot easier this patch, with no base shrines, but it can get tricky and can even give the enemy an opportunity to come back into the game. In these situations ensuring maximum safety, while still making progress towards closing the game, is definitely worth 2625 gold, especially on some support heroes.

Aeon Disk

Aeon Disk has seen some professional play, often against hard lockdown initiators, such as Batrider. The item essentially counters heavy burst initiations and can be a decent pick-up on virtually any hero, given the right circumstances.

However, the item is at its best on heroes who bring a lot of utility, but don’t necessarily care about the damage. This type of heroes also typically become the primary targets for the enemy team — initiating on an enemy Silencer, Dazzle or Oracle is generally a good move, but Aeon Disk will not only allow them to survive, but will also provide enough breathing room to use their spells, turning around the engagement.

Following similar logic, the item can be a decent situational pick up on Ursa, making an already hard to deal with target almost unkillable, while still allowing him to stack Fury Swipes.

Spirit Vessel

The Urn’s older brother adds another source of heal and regeneration mitigation to the game — something discussed not long before the patch. And this item simply works, and it works really well.

Urn of Shadows is an early pickup for many roaming heroes, which allows their team to better transition from ganks to pushes, providing the necessary sustain. It also allows for some extra damage on the target, which is often the difference between death and life for the opponent or at the very least saves your team some time.

Both of these effects scale with the Spirit Vessel upgrade, with both damage and heal now having a percentage-based aspect. On top of it, the item is now a decent counter to many regenerating and healing heroes.

There are two downsides to it, however. First, you need to charge it, which becomes more difficult as the game progresses. It is also dispellable with virtually anything — Manta Style, Black King Bar and Lotus Orb will all cancel the effect of the Spirit Vessel.

It makes the item a little trickier to use to its full effect, but the payout can be very high. In a meta where Spell Lifesteal and scaling nukes slowly become a thing, heal mitigation is no longer only useful against Alchemist, but can also become a necessity against Viper, Queen of Pain, Bristleback and even Tinker.

Nullifier

One of the most interesting introductions to the game turned out to be somewhat lackluster. Nullifier is great on paper — it prevents enemy cores from using BKB, Eul’s and Manta, slows sufficiently so melee cores don’t need to worry about being kited, dispels Ghost Form from Necrophos, Pugna and Ghost Scepter and unlike Diffusal Blade, and finally it is stats-neutral, meaning that it is as good on a Strength core as it is on an Intelligence or Agility one.

In reality, there simply are not enough incentives in the meta for it to be actually popular. Necrophos and Pugna are far from running rampant through pubs, as was the case in 7.06. Hard disables are still superior to all other disables, and hex was significantly buffed for it to once again become the go-to disable in the late game, while the projectile nature of Nullifier makes it much easier to avoid or disjoint.

It makes for a rather inconsistent item to use — it is trying to provide the same utility against items as Bloodthorn does against spells, but doesn’t do it instantly and doesn’t amplify the damage received by the target. As such, it is currently in the “deep niche” category of items, where you generally consider them out of necessity, rather than because it is good.

And the only situations where this item is truly a necessity is when the enemy has buffs that need to be dispelled, otherwise the typical Abyssal Blade or Scythe of Vyse will be better purchases, even if more costly. The only recent item pick up was by VG. Paparazi in a match against Complexity in PW Masters tournament and it was against Pugna with Ghost Scepter.

Kaya probably turned out to be the biggest item of the patch — it is universally good on all heroes with spell damage, it provides great utility through manacost reduction, and it is incredibly cheap on top of it all. The item is pretty much the reason both Tinker and Storm Spirit became top meta picks once again.

It definitely shouldn’t become a priority for support heroes, since there are better utility items that are priced similarly, but for many Intelligence cores it turned into a better Aether Lens.

There isn’t really much else to discuss about the item — it is cost efficient and it enables Intelligence cores by a huge margin, allowing them to snowball better and stay relevant for a lot longer. In fact, the item could lose the mana loss mitigation and still be amazing, however, definitely don’t count on it for saving your intelligence core against Anti-Mage or Nyx Assassin.

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Malaysian electronic sport (e-sport) athletes created history this weekend when they won US$1.4 million (RM5.6 million) in the wildly popular competitive game Dota 2.

While the country awaits its first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, local e-sport fans rejoiced after team Fnatic clinched fourth place at The International Dota 2 tournament held in Seattle, the United States.

The professional gamers, aged between 20 and 25, entered the competition as underdogs but exceeded all expectations when they defeated some of the top teams from Europe and Asia. Dota 2 international 2014 team malaysia run

Despite performing poorly in the group stages, Yeik Nai Zheng (MidOne), Adam Erwann Shah (343), Chong Xin Khoo (Ohaiyo) and Chai Yee Fung (Mushi) miraculously clawed back from what appeared to be certain defeat and staged some of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Fnatic’s fifth player, Djardel Jicko Mampusti (DJ), 21, is a professional Dota 2 player from the Philippines.

Their Cinderella run, however, came to an excruciating end after they were defeated by North American outfit Digital Chaos in the lower bracket semi-final.

“How I wish this year would be my last. Sorry for disappointing you guys again. (I will) try harder next time,” said 25-year-old team captain Chai on his Facebook page.

Chai, who has already earned more than RM1.9 million prior to this year’s tournament, is a role model for many e-sport fans and is widely regarded as the “Lee Chong Wei” of Dota 2.

Despite the loss, Chai and his teammates will walk away with RM5.6 million, the highest prize money ever won by a Southeast Asian Dota 2 team since the inception of The International in 2011.

The last time a Malaysian team performed well in the prestigious tournament was in 2013 when Orange Esports, also captained by Chai, bagged third place, albeit with a lower cash prize of RM1.15 million.

For the uninitiated, Dota 2 is a multiplayer online video game in which two teams of five players compete to collectively destroy a large structure defended by the opposing team, known as the “Ancient”, while defending their own.

The total prize pool of this year’s The International is almost US$21 million (RM84.4 million), with the eventual champions taking home the lion’s share of US$9 million.

The matches were played in front of a sold-out crowd at the KeyArena stadium in Seattle and were “streamed” live to millions of viewers around the world.

To put things in perspective, the Badminton Super Series Masters Finals offers a total prize pool of RM2 million, while the total pot of prize money handed out at Le Tour de France this year amounted to RM10.3 million.

With e-sport titles like Dota 2 gaining worldwide attention, a growing number of youths are making a living out of playing computer games. E-sports is slowly becoming on par with traditional sports.

Reach goes live today, and these are all of the details you’ve been asking about.

Who can play today?

Today we open the ladder to immortal players, as well as anyone who attended ESL Hamburg and received a code in their goody bags. If you are immortal ranked in EU, or NA, you will automatically be approved to enter the site and will simply need to head to www. reach. gg and sign in using steam. If you currently have third party stats disabled in the Dota 2 options, and we do not have a ranking for you on Dotabuff, you’ll need to enable that option so that we can get accurate data for you to seed you properly into the system. All Immortal players will be seeded into our Pinnacle division which is the top division of Reach. Users of lower skill brackets will have the system opened to them in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to our social media for announcements on that front.

Additionally, ensure that the “Block party invites from non-friends” is not selected in the Dota 2 options to allow our bots to invite you to games.

When does it go live?

We launch today at 7:00pm CET for European players. In NA, the first play session begins at 6:00 Pacific (7:00 Mountain, 8:00 Central, and 9:00 Eastern). Play sessions for today will be 4 hours long, with all other days of the week being 5 hours. This is to give us a bit of extra time to evaluate how the first play session goes and fix any issues that arise before the NA play session. Visit the schedule page for a day-by-day breakdown of when games go live and for how long. All times listed there should be local to your system clock in case you’re not in one of the time zones listed above.

How does scoring work?

Scoring is different for Pinnacle and Contender divisions. In Pinnacle, users are scored on a per-day basis. During the 1st to 3rd game of the day, players will be awarded 6 points for a win, and -4 for a loss. During the 4th to 6th game of the day, they will be awarded 4 for a win, and -4 for a loss. For games played beyond their 6th, players will be awarded 2 points for a win, and -2 for a loss. This is to emphasize consistency over a smaller sample of games, and ensure that the most score is derived from the first few games of each play session, as we don’t want players trying to min-max our play windows by giving up on games too early. This system will be in place for the beta weeks, but may warrant a change before season 1, so if you have thoughts on this system, we’d love to hear it in our community discord.

In Contender divisions, we use an algorithm to seed, and adjust your Reach ranking as you play. This system will be in flux through the course of the beta, and may see retroactive tweaks which cause your rating to fluctuate during beta weeks. If your ranking jumps up or down unexpectedly, don’t worry, we’re looking into it.

Is a subscription needed to play?

During the beta we’ll be allowing users into Reach for free to build a solid base of users and gather feedback from high ranked players. As the beta weeks continue on, we’ll be expanding the player pool slightly to stress test our systems and ensure that we can support the full player base we’re hoping for. What are the prizes?

During the Beta, we’ll be awarding prizes on a series of “Sprints” which include multiple play sessions. Weekday sprints will run from Monday to Friday, and take place in the evenings. Weekend sprints will run from Saturday to Sunday, and run all day in Captain’s Mode.

Weekday sprints will have a prize pool of $1500 per region, with the top 10 players splitting the prize pool.

Whenever I play in ranked, If I win, I get a point between +25 and +30, If I lose I get between -25 and -30. Is this all about winning and losing? I mean in some games I play good, I get kills, asists last hits whatever I can but my teammate which plays late game hero dies 12 times. When we lose I lose 25 points, even my death is 3 times lower than the one who is closest to me. So you are lowering my rank so I can play with worse teammates to lose even worse? Its not just about losing, I played some bad games like every humanbeing, but somehow we won thanks to my teammates, suddenly I got 25 points! What is the point of this ridicilous rank system? Am I the only one who doesnt understand this?

Im not saying that Im a pro, Im just playing for fun. I dont care if someone plays bad, its normal. But why does this rank system only works with teams? Thank you for the answer but it doesnt really gives an answer for my question. I dont really care about winning or losing. The point is why Im losing points when I lose because of my teammates intentional feeding or some situation like that. If you played good( if you did your job well, didnt feed etc.), isn’t it more logical to stay in your rank instead of losing rank? Its also same when you play bad but you win, you gain rank. It’s not logical in my opinion.

its not logical, and its not fair, but it is what it is, you have to get out of the trench to change it. (i cant get out of the trench and i understand acutely what you are feeling, there just isnt anything to do about it) either ignore your mmr and play normal, or play same carry hero EVERY GAME until you are able to carry a game alone and hopefully eventually you will get out.

i have been playing luna every game for a couple of days, and i have raised my mmr by over 200, its still shockingly low. but if you play one carry hero, one that can swing a game by themselves, over and over, you wll win more than you lose, and slowly and surely you will get there, and when you get there. THEY BUY WARDS, LISTEN TO PINGS, TP INTO THE TOWER WHEN YOU ARE GETTING PINNED BACK, ALL THAT GOOD ♥♥♥♥.
