Biography [ edit ]

pieliedie started playing WarCraft 3 in 2005. [1] He started playing Dota with online friends in a team called “Gvision”. [1] Some of the other players on the team over time included SK Gaming’s “Bogdan” and “zoN-“, as well as BenTzeR and pepp3, famous from mTw in Dota 2. [2] They were quite successful and achieved a 4th place at Farm 4 Fame #2. [2] Later the team was picked up by an organization called “eSports-United”. pieliedie started playing Dota 2 in January 2012. [1] He was scouted by asuna in a pub game, who approached him to join a team he was creating, Kaipi. A few months later, FATA – and paS joined the team and in November 2012 they achieved 2nd place in GosuLeague Season 4.

[7] He was later seen playing for both MeePwn’d and Team Tinker. On May 8th, 2015, mousesports officially signed pieliedie and the rest of Team Tinker. [11] He later joined Team Secret on the 22nd August 2015 [12] and showed inital success with winning MLG 2015 World Finals and Nanyang Dota 2 Championships Season 1 and finishing runners-up in Valve’s first major, Frankfurt Major 2015 and ESL One New York 2015. However over the winter-period of 2015-16 his team saw a drop in form.

With Team Secret not in their best form, many were speculative on their performance of the upcoming Shanghai Major 2016. However showing a decent groupstage, Pieliedie’s virtuoso performances as a support with Lion and Io [13] at the mainstage led his team all the way to the grand finals, beating previous major winners OG 3-1 to win the tournament and was awarded MVP. [14] However immediately after the tournament saw the departure of w33 and MiSeRy, with Arteezy and UNiVeRsE as the replacements. [15] Pieliedie and his team fell in a slump of form even with the addition of Bulba despite making through the The International 2016 from the open qualifiers, where in the tournament he placed last place.

How to Play the New Patch: Dota 2 7.02

The new patch is here, and with it are several nerfs and buffs that will change the way the game is played.

General Changes in the New Patch:

  • Shrines are now vulnerable after a T3 tower dies (same as the Shrines inside the base), rather than after all T2 towers die
  • Sentry Wards now come in packs of 1 for 100 gold (instead of 2 for 200)
  • Added Lycan to CM
  • Satyr Trickster Purge slow from 100/80/60/40/20% over 5 seconds to 50/40/30/20/10%
  • Helm of the Dominator All Stats from 6 to 4
  • Helm of the Dominator creeps now give a constant 125 gold bounty
  • Shadow Walk damage for Silver Edge from 225 to 200
  • Tome of Knowledge additional XP per used Tome from 100 to 135
  • Blademail damage return no longer spell lifesteals off of returned damage
  • Dragon Lance agility from 14 to 13
  • Battle Fury Radius from 280 to 300
  • Battle Fury Distance from 520 to 570
  • Bloodthorn cooldown from 11 to 13
  • Solar Crest Armor from 10 to 12 (same for transferring to Ally/Enemy)
  • Sange maim chance from 24% to 30%
  • Sange and Yasha Greater Maim chance from 30% to 35%
  • Heaven’s Halberd maim chance from 24% to 35%
  • Heaven’s Halberd cooldown from 30 to 22
  • Regen Rune now has the same damage dispel rules as Healing Salve
  • Aegis expiration regen now has the same damage dispel rules as Healing Salve
  • Observer Wards now have a Fog of War simulator to show you the area the ward will reveal (taking into account trees and terrain height)
  • Towers no longer attack neutral team units
  • The following abilities cause neutrals to temporarily not draw aggro: Meat Hook, Telekinesis and Toss
  • Added more trees for TP cover around the dire towers
  • Swapped the dire secondary jungle ancients and medium camp spots (and improved spawn boxes/stackability)
  • The Dire ward spot to the left of the Ancients no longer gives vision over the rune area infront of Roshan

This spot.

  • Slightly adjusted the dire secondary jungle bounty rune further back
  • Reduced spawnbox size for both Dire hard camps
  • Shifted down the spawnbox for the ancient camp (formerly medium camp) in the Dire secondary jungle (so a high ground ward does not block the camp)
  • Fixed a rare case where Dire ancients could be stuck between trees when spawning

The Big Changes You Need to Know About 7.02

You can find the full list of Hero and Item changes on the Steam website. (It’s a huge list, so I’m not going to copy-paste it here.)

Can’t Heal Yourself If You Hurt Yourself

Queen of Pain’s self-inflicted blademail abuse now comes to an end: Blademail damage return no longer spell lifesteals off of returned damage. This mean’s QOP’s 70% lifesteal passive doesn’t heal on damage from Blademail anymore. If you were one of the few people going Blademail QOP before this, congratulations on your free MMR.

Sentries are Split Like Observers

Sentry Wards now come in packs of 1 for 100 gold – an easier time for supports, and a tougher laning phase for an already nerfed suite of invis heroes. With the addition of shrines and the buff to early game passive gold supports, it’s going to be even tougher now to roam as Bounty Hunter or Riki. Your enemy mid player can just buy a sentry along with a wraith band and pooled tangoes.

Ember, You’re too Strong Right Now

For Ember Spirit, root now disables Activate Fire Remnant. Which means two things: Ember is immediately weaker to just about everything in the game (because everything Roots – we HoN now), and the Veil of Discord magic damage build is slightly weaker. A significant nerf, but it makes sense given that Root is supposed to completely immobilize a hero.

IceFrog: “You’re Pulling My Leg, Right?”

Doing weird shit like pulling creeps with Pudge hook, pulling the large camp with Tiny’s toss and Rubick’s Telekinesis is gone. Not many people did it, but it’s nice to know that there’s some consistency. IceFrog has always been against messing with the creep equilibrium in ways that enemies can’t recover from.

Dire Side Map Changes

There are a slew of changes to the Dire side map to try and balance the winrate, which had a huge Radiant advantage since 7.00. The trees around the Dire Tier 2 towers are now slightly different. More foliage has been added to the forests surrounding the Tier 2s to make it easier to TP into fog. The ancient and large camp in the secondary jungle has been switched, and the spawn boxes for the new ancient camp (old large camp) has been reduced to make it easy to stack.

Dire Side Tier 2 Top Dire Side Tier 2 Bot

No More Sniper Bear?

Lonely Druid, like Ember, who got changed so irrevocably that he’s played an entirely different way, has been nerfed slightly. But the nerfs are not that bad – the main Lone Druid hero still has the same talents with reduced numbers, indicating that IceFrog wants to keep the choice to play the hero in two different ways. The new +12 armor to the bear talent might revitalize the old build. Let’s see how it plays out.

Monkey… Pleb?

Monkey King is now officially trash tier, with a 5% lower winrate in just a day of playing. -3 base armor coupled with a change to talent tree and a huge damage nerf to Jingu Mastery means the hero’s laning phase is a lot more difficult now. Atleast Wukong’s Command doesn’t continue through aegis now OSFrog

Fog of War Simulator 2017

Observer wards have a Fog of War simulator that will show you exactly what vision you’ll get. I know people will be crying “muh skill cap”, but like Purge said in his 7.02 first impressions, it’s better to have players learn the game through playing it than to look up a guide or YouTube videos. Now you’ll learn good ward placements through playing and don’t have to watch Sonneiko’s replays.

Heroes Nerfed a Lot:

  • Monkey King
  • Dark Seer
  • Queen of Pain
  • Lone Druid

Heroes Buffed a Lot:

  • Anti Mage
  • Bane
  • Windranger
  • Phoenix
  • Nyx Assasin

Summary of Dota 2 7.02

Most other heroes have gotten some small changes to their talents. It’s still kind of disappointing to see the power creep of certain heroes like Pudge and Meepo not being addressed, but it’s a start. This patch changes a lot about the game and will stabilise the insane metagame created with 7.00.

If you’re interested in the changes of the past, you can look at our articles about 7.00 and 7.01 to get briefed on Dota 2 history.

The first time YaphetS came into public attention is the time his replays are continuously uploaded in sGamer. com, which received comments on being self-hyped. YaphetS himself had arguments on the forum causing him to be publicly disliked. [4] In February 2008’s CDL tournament, YaphetS and his team Sison competed and won the first match. In May 2008, an old school Chinese team maGe reformed with YaphetS as the team leader. In an interview by sGamer. com he stated that “I want to say that our plans is to not play just within China, i think we will flourish internationally.” This was regarded as overly arrogant by the community due to the team’s less than ideal results. The team soon disbanded afterwards.

September 2009 in a WCG regional qualifier, Yaphets performed brilliantly, and caught attention of several teams. Make PA Arcana style selectable after evolving.

Currently, after you evolve your PA arcana you are stuck with that style. Unlike other evolving cosmetics in Dota 2, PA arcana doesn’t change in form only in colour. It would be great if we were given the option to choose which colour we’d like on our PA arcana given we paid $28 on it.

Yes please this is a huge issue. The original color matches the set much better than the evolved one. This is a really expensive item it should have the option to choose it’s style.

Maybe even add evolving to the whole set and not only the swords so that they match like the original swords do.

Agreed! Make it as STYLE (selectable) like some other Mythical items. If no make it, I am going to FUCK VALVE forever!
Please insert the wallpaper http://postimg. org/image/i0tixz571/full/ as PA’s ARCANA loadscreen as well if owner reaches 100 points.
Else, I feel like spending so much of money for this 1 arcana? But some others can get it so fucking easily through earlier bug.

agreed with commentary!
it will be logic and great addition

ALLSO it would be really cool if you could put color gems in to it like you can with the terrorblade arcaina i would love to make my arcane green

I hope they do this. If they ignore this issue i wont buy anymore arcanas. I really like the original set but with the fire weapons looks silly.

I guess it’s my fault for falling in the trap and pre order without knowing all the details.

Why should PA players be treated any differently than TB players? If you want another color, you have to get a whole other item.

But, I do think they should fix this and the TB item as well.

Because TB players have hundreds of colour choices and PA players have 3? A number which has a precedent for using the style system, like my TPL qop set.

I came here to make this exact post.
There are two glaring issues with the Manifold Paradox. Before I list them let me just say that the item itself is great. The design, the animations, the model texture changes and most of the particles look fantastic. The lore is great too!

However as some have said in this thread the styles NEED to be selectable(first problem). Besides there being more choice to your Phantom Assassin loadout/appearance, a big reason for this is the third evolution looks awful(second problem). Adding orange to Phantom Assassin’s pallet is super ugly and painful to look at. I don’t want to have to wear fire blades but due to it always leveling up someday it will be stuck on the 3rd evolution(fire particles). This is awful! The worst thing about this is that the starting look(level 1) is the best look. Why did you not save the nice cool blue effect for the last evolution? It’s the best because it mimics the color of the rest of the character/arcana effects and fits her look/color scheme perfectly.

I’d also like to see the third and second evolutions re-done to better suit her look. Maybe a glowing purple instead of red? Fiery swords would make this the 5th Arcana currently released with a fire theme(Lina’s hair, Legion’s fiery wartorn particles, Techies’ cannon fire, Shadow Fiend’s arcana’s entire fire-filled look). I understand that fire is cool but you guys don’t need to put it on every single Arcana! Please leave PA’s effect nice cool shadowy colors like blue, dark blue, purple.. or a cool green like her normal eye color. I understand it’s asking a lot to change your already advertised evolution styles so that’s why the priority here is making the styles selectable regardless of the Arcana’s level.

But if you guys really cared about the art style then you should make the evolutions easier on the eyes, please

Phantom Assassin’s dual blades should be red in color. Not the ugly orange. But it seems that VALVE want to make it flaming, so. I think a color between orange – red is better.

Dota 2 the international 2012 standings

We have moved on a year from the insane reception of Dota 2 at TI1 and by now the community has grown to a huge size – so Cologne, Germany is no longer our home. This year was the first time which The International moved to Seattle, America and namely, the Benaroya Hall. The Dota 2 blog updated on May 10 th 2012, announcing the first 2 teams that were confirmed for the event – and the hype train began.

In the next few weeks, I will continue on a journey through the History of the International, where it all began, the prize pools, the winning teams and everything surrounding each event as we lead up to this year’s TI8. The story of TI1 can be found here.

The International 2012

On May 10 th 2012 the Dota 2 blog had the following update:

The update definitely ignited the hype for the 2 nd iteration of the prestigious event as we entered a near 4-month journey through to Seatlle. This year would feature 16 teams once again but only 14 were sent direct invites to the event while another 2 would be found via regional specific tournaments. One from thee “West” and another from the “East”. This would be the first time that Qualifying was involved for The International and opened the door for the future years. The 16 teams who would be confirmed for the event would still be battling for that $1,000,000 first place prize and everyone knew right off the bat that things would be much different from the previous year.

The Teams

This time around the teams were much more well-known, with the community having followed them for a year, loving them and cheering for each player who they held in the highest regard. The teams themselves all seemed to hail the Chinese as the most prolific in the Dota 2 scene at the time and with Team DK, Invictus Gaming, LGD Gaming, TongFu and EHOME all hailing from China, everyone could feel the tension building.

When the dust settled and the games were over, after each absolutely breathtakingly beautiful play had been made and The International 2012’s Grand Final had come to an end, it was in fact a Chinse team who claimed victory. iG would be able to hold of the defending champions in the series and become the victors of TI2, lifting the now tangible Aegis of Champioons high above their heads. This was the first time that the Aegis of Champions was shown – having only been conceptualized and created after the events of TI1, which meant that in the ceremony preceding iG’s victory, Na’Vi would hand over the trophy to its new owners. Valve released a post on the creation of the magnificent spoils of victory and it can be found in its entirety here.

Over the years of The International we’ve definitely seen some brilliance, be it a moment of solo performance or an insane team play that puts a team ahead. The International 2012 was no difference but the biggest play is one that is entitled “The Play” and has never been forgotten by those who witnessed it in real time. Replays and slow-motion viewings 6 years later still incite every reason why Dota 2 still excites me. Na’Vi would come back from losing game 1 in 16 minutes to drop iG into the lower bracket – but it was Game 2 that produced the fireworks. For anyone who does not remember this moment, here’s a chance to almost re-live it.

The International 2012 Placements and Rewards

  • First Place– Invictus Gaming – $1,000,000
  • Second Place– Natus Vincere – $250,000
  • Third Place– LGD Gaming – $150,000
  • Fourth Place– Team DK – $80,000
  • Fifth/Sixth Place– EHOME/Team Zenith – $35,000
  • Seventh/Eight Place– TongFu/Orange Esports – $25,000

Dota 2’s Continued Growth

During the build-up to TI2 we saw a lot of different things come out from Valve, including the confirmation of Dota 2 being completely free to play with an in-game store for cosmetic items. With this also came the announcement that Dota 2 would be added to the Steam Workshop – meaning that community made content could be created for the game and, if chosen, even featured in the game. Updates to the game itself also continued in this period with heroes being released over the time along with UI changes too – everything was shaping up going forward for Dota 2 and the game did not stop growing.

Whose fault is that if your rank slides down than before? Is it because of your foolishness? Or is it because of your teammates is a bunch of idiots? Well, what if I give you a risky solution? At least try this Dota 2 tricks to raise up your MMR points. I think these tricks haven’t used by so many people and maybe can be effectively used on your tier. So, are you curious? Well, check it out!

Dota 2 Tricks To Win

Well, I know you must be tired of losing and you want to end up this Satan circle, right? I know that’s your main and biggest reason. However, to win this game you need all of your team, right? Well, what if you team up with a bunch of idiots? Do you need to lose again and again even though you already give your best? Well, on my Dota 2 review today, I will tell you how to win even though your team up with a bunch of idiot people.

In this game number means nothing. Well, even though you have a bunch of people that gathered up in one place, this doesn’t ensure your win. That’s why a rats word is born in Dota 2. Well, “rats” are one of the most popular strategies that commonly used in Dota2 tips especially if you are in a tight situation. You also can pick the “rats” hero according to enemies hero and planning position. There are a lot of heroes that categorized as a “rats” hero as long as they make a proper build their items. Sometimes people will choose whether its Drow Ranger, Naga Siren, Tinker, or Lycan the Bane Hollow. But who guess if Nature Prophet that looks weak in the early game can be the best “rats” too? The question now is how?

Well, to make up this meta happen, I suggest you pick a safe lane as your farming lane. You also can be a junggling hero, just make sure you gain your gold as much as you can and as fast as possible. Well, after you gain your gold you can follow up my steps.

  1. Power Thread.
    • Because you need a lot of damage and you will farm alone. You need to be durable first. This item is the most suitable for your hero to survive in lane. This boots will be exchanged to be Boots Of Travel later for more mobility.
  2. Dominator Helm.
    • Your evil plan will start now. Make this Dominator Helm and dominate one creep or one jungle creep to help you push your enemies tower.
  3. Necrominion.
    • The next items are necro minion book. This evil thing will help you summon a demon to help you push even faster. Now you have 5 treant units (9 treants if you pick the talent tree) under your control if we combine it with your summon wolves skill.
  4. Refresher Orbs.
    • Who says that you don’t need refresher orbs? This is the ultimate item for your evil plan. Why do I say like that? Well, can you imagine how many armies you will have if you use refresher orbs? 9 treants (if you pick the talent tree), 2 minions, 1 jungle monster and now multiply it with 2, now you have tons of army!
  5. Shadow Blade/Silver Edge (advanced item).
    • You will need this item to sneak silently to the enemy base and hurl a lot of army at once. I bet you will be the most wanted person in enemies team because you are so annoying with your minions’ team. That’s why if you have spare money, I think you should consider buying this item for your safety.

Well, I think my article today about Dota 2 tricks is enough for today. If you think my article today is good enough for you, please share my article today with the other Dota 2 players. See you soon in my next article and have a nice day dude.

After 3 Seasons, the Dota 2 Reporter might start to wind down

For those unfamiliar with the Dota 2 Reporter, the series focuses on the eponymous Dota 2 reporter as he learns the various mechanics of the game, while at the same time pointing out the absurdity of them in a real world context. The series has reached 57 episodes with the conclusion of the 3rd season on the horizon.

The first episode of the Dota 2 Reporter

Brian Calland on what inspired him to create the DOTA 2 reporter
When asked about what inspired to create the show, Brian stated that it dates back to his teenage years. “When I was 14 I visited Newgrounds. com a lot, and for some reason there I was like ‘what if I made stupid things like that’ (. ) I saw a bunch of video game parodies when I was there, and I was like ‘Ya I’ll do a video game parody’ (. ) Eventually, I don’t know why it was in this format of like a reporter in the middle of the game but I did an original Star Craft reporter in 2006(. ) I made it and it was terrible obviously. I guess from that cartoon I thought that putting a static neutral character in the middle of the game and comment on the absurdity of it all.”

Brian Calland on his history with animation
Brian has no previous experience with animation outside of Flash. However, he did mention that he went to film school. “I went to film school thinking about being a director but then I realised if I stuck to doing the Dota 2 Reporter, I have 100% control over everything and no one can touch it.”

The two man team behind the show
When writing the script for the show, Brian describes his approach to scriptwriting as “unconventional”. “Id compare my appraoch to that of South Park, where I start a script for that week only and then just make it and hope that it works.” When asked if he has the scripts pre-written and then proceeds, he answered that none of the scritps are pre-written and starts fresh every week.

There are only two people who work on the show, himself and his friend Mike. “There are 2 of us doing the voices. Mike does the lower register characters (. ) He does a very good Tidehunter. He doesnt know anything about the game which makes it really funny to work with him.” Outside of that Brian does all the heavy lifting alone, which includes the animation, scriptwriting and sound editing.

One of our personal favourite Dota 2 Reporter episodes

Brian’s extended break from Dota 2 and what it means for the show
Brian mentioned that he was taking an extended break from the game since he felt that it was becoming more work than play. When asked if he saw the show as work, he had this to say: “I enjoy doing it, and I am happy to be doing it, it’s just that sometimes I have this thought in the back of my mind where I dont play the game as much aanymore, Im sure I will eventually since I am on my extended break, but I still like the characters that I guess you can say that I made them. I like to write, I love to make the things happen, I just. when Im trying to think of a ways to end the episode Im just like ‘umm. ummm. they destroy a building'”

Season 4 might follow different format from previous seasons
Brian briefly talked about the future of the show when asked if there will be a fourth season. “Theirs going to be. something. I’ll address it like this; I dont how much Im going to follow the format as I have been with like seasons and further episodes not making any sense if you hadnt seen the other ones. So maybe I’ll do some stuff where its more like “Oh you can actually see other heroes then the 10 I’ve locked in here for over half a year”.

He also briefly mentioned what he might be doing in the future outside of the Dota 2 Reporter. “Ive been contemplating having a side channel for like gameplay and stuff, nothing that takes like 2 weeks to do, just some fun stuff to do”

Dota 2: What Is the International?

Valve is perhaps best known for creating Steam, the ubiquitous PC gaming platform. While it has developed many successful games, none have as vibrant of an esports presence as Dota 2.

The history of Dota 2 is too long to discuss here and too interesting to shortchange, so you’ll have to look that up elsewhere. In a nutshell, the game of Dota 2 is an action-real-time-strategy-multiplayer-online-battle-arena game. In a smaller nutshell, it’s 5v5 “capture the fort.”

The 5v5 nature and variety of playable characters (over 100) have created a huge following for the esport [the gameplay at a level played by professionals]. The players who compete at The International each year are the best in the world.

This year marks the seventh iteration of The International. It’s a two week-long esports frenzy put on by Valve at Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. But it’s certainly not just your standard sporting event.

    What is The International?

The International is the engine that drives esports forward.

Every year, The International (often called TI or TI[insert current number here] for short) boasts the largest prize pool of any esports tournament. For the past seven years, TI has smashed its previous prize pool amount. This year, we are already past $23,000,000. I say “we” because The International is the unifying event for Dota 2. While viewers may not keep up to date with the smaller tournaments during the year, fans of Dota tune in each August to see the biggest event of the year.

Now, it’s not the only big esport event. League of Legends (LoL), Dota’s competitor with a larger worldwide fanbase, boasts large viewership numbers during their seasonal leagues. But no other esports event whether it be LoL, Counter-Strike, SMITE, Heroes of the Storm, or Starcraft ever comes close to breaking TI’s prize pool records. The International is often held up as the example that esports are a viable thing in today’s society and every bit as legitimate as physical sports. Key Arena is decked out with state-of-the-art equipment and packed full of fans. The outside area has jumbo screens, Dota-themed food carts, and another thousand ticket-less attendees who came all the way to Seattle to hang out at the venue and watch Dota on the lawn.

    The International is Worldwide

Dota players hail from nations all over the globe. Some teams even consist of players from countries that don’t typically get along. Visa issues notwithstanding, each August 75-85 players from around the world meet up in Washington and put their national differences aside for a week.

Despite the fact that it’s held in the United States, only four players from the US will compete this year.

    TI7 HYYYYYPE

Much like televised physical sports, all International games are casted by a pair of people. One caster is typically the hype or shoutcaster, whose job is to get you excited about what’s going on in the game, usually by yelling. The second caster explains what is actually happening during the chaos and the greater implications for the game.

Even if you are completely lost, even if you have no clue what is going on, you can’t help but feel the energy when you hear “SYLAR TO FALL, LIQUID ARE DOING IT!”

    Event Details

The International consists of four main phases: the Open Qualifiers, the Regional Qualifiers, the Group Stage, and the Main Event. The first two phases are divided up by geographic region. This year, Valve split the Americas and the Europe regions into North and South America and Europe + CIS. In addition to these four regions, China and Southeast Asia are also represented.

    1. Open Qualifiers: During this part of the event, non-professional players have their chance at getting to TI. Teams play in a huge single elimination tournament until only two remain per region. Those teams are added to the Regional Qualifiers.
    2. Regional Qualifiers: Several teams from each of the six regions play each other in a round-robin type bracket consisting of sets of best-of-two matches, for which they earn points. The top team(s) receive a ticket to Seattle to compete in the Group Stage.
    3. The Group Stage: Teams play another round-robin style with the best-of-two format. This year, the top four teams advance to the Upper Bracket in the Main Event, the bottom team is eliminated, and the bottom four teams start in the lower bracket.
    4. The Main Event: Teams play through the upper or lower brackets depending on their seed after the group stage. They are progressively eliminated until one is given the Aegis of the Immortal as champions.
