What Is Dota 2 Stuttering and How to Fix It?

Ever since Valve introduced its highly anticipated 7.00 Update for Dota 2, players have been reporting issues linked to the infamous Dota 2 Stuttering. This issue was somewhat fixed with the previous updates, however, it has now made a return to the MOBA. More so, with the game now running update 7.08, reports suggest the Dota 2 fps stutter issue still persist in the game.

Gamers from across the globe have been reporting instances related to the infamous Dota 2 stutter issue. Consequently, Dota 2 players are on the brink of leaving the game forever, as, for them, it is currently unplayable. However, for all of you, who are affected by this issue, I have some good news for you.

@DOTA2 your dota 2 servers are taking a dump right now stutter / slow motion constantly nonstop ingame

my Dota 2 client have been stuttering in the last 2 weeks, despite low ping… no idea why

It seems there is a way to get rid of the Dota 2 fps stutter, one which is easier to apply and has positives effects. But before I delve into the details, let’s first get a firm grasp on what the stuttering issue is?

Dota 2 Fps Stutter

According to the reports, Dota 2 fps stutter is a sort of a lag spike which freezes the game for a second or so, after a specific period of time, or when things get intense. And since Dota 2 is a game where a single second can have the greatest of impacts, you can just understand how frustrating the stutter can get. For more visual understanding, check out the video below:

By looking at the video above, you can clearly see that playing under the effect of the Dota 2 stuttering issue, is quite difficult. As a result, a fix for this is much needed. However, the fix for this issue isn’t as simple as changing a couple of settings as it is linked to lag. This means there are a lot of things which can be responsible for the Dota 2 fps stutter.

Dota 2 Stuttering Lag Fix

The Dota 2 stutter issue is a product of the lag, the root cause behind this could be linked to factors such as the game’s system requirements and your gaming rig’s performance. However, since I have already covered that in the Kill Ping Dota 2 Lag articles, I would not want to double dip on this matter. So, before you scroll down, I will advise you to check out the Dota 2 lag guide .

  • Make sure all of the drivers on your computer are up-to-date, especially the ones for your GPU
  • Close down any background application which is either using up your internet or is using up a lot of your system’s space
  • Scan and defrag all of the drives, especially the ones where Dota 2 and Steam are located
  • Lower your graphics and v >Bid Farewell to Dota 2 Stuttering Once and For All

Kill Ping is a gaming VPN that features dedicated servers for almost every online game which allow players to play the game without any lag or delays. In other words, Kill Ping is the perfect fix for dealing with this issue.

Players from all over the world have tried out Kill Ping and have enjoyed smooth gaming experience like never before with increased FPS, reduced lag, and spikes. So, if you are the one who wishes to lay waste to Dota 2 stuttering once and for all, I would highly recommend you to give Kill Ping a try. It is one of the best options for online gamers. Dota 2 complexity vs method

Dota 2 complexity vs method

Dota 2 complexity vs method

Dota 2 complexity vs method

Complexity is the number of concurrent things (read, “rules&quot a player has to hold in their mind to play the game.

Depth is the number of non trivial decisions they have to make to play the game.

A perfect game would be immensely Deep, but not at all Complex. Go, a game involving two colours of stones, a grid, and the placement, is very close to this.

Now, when a player starts playing a game, we want them to experience as much of the depth as possible, with as little complexity as possible. We can do that by creating a functional subset of the gameplay enviroment with fewer complexities. A good example of this is Route 101 in Pokemon. You only encounter a small number of pokemon, the pokemon are relatively weak, and the moves are basic.

In the same manner, instead of presenting a new LoL player with 117 champions, we let them play 10. 10 champions, summoners rift, and the opponents are all new players. You have the needed complexity of 5v5, of the standard summoners rift set up, but thats it. No runes to manage, no masteries to manage, because these do not add depth to the game, merely complexity.

Our game is functional using a subset of any 10 champions on summoners rift provided our players are not overly skilled, saw, below gold (we can assume that they’re new). The reason this pool isn’t any bigger, is because the depth gained from playing with / against two champions instead of one (or 20 instead of 10) is not at all proportionate to the added complexity the player must handle.

Quick, name and describe what all five abilities of Urgot, Poppy, Irelia are? You’re a bit stumped, you’re probably not familiar with all the complexity those champions bring. Spare a thought for a new player, who would have to be prepared to play with or against 117 champions. We make it easier, yet no less deep or enjoyable with a limited roster of ten champions.

Playing the game naturally allows the player to appreciate more of the depth the added complexity brings. To go back to pokemon, as the trainer moves through new routes, they find new pokemon, still a small subset. However, other trainers may battle with pokemon from previous routes, or not seen at all. By introducing complexity in a slow manner like this, players can appreciate the depth that it brings without being overwhelmed. Some examples are type matchups and status effects.

Similarly, in League, new players expect to often face the free week champions, or at worst, a limited roster of the non free champions. While you may encounter 6300Ip champions, you won’t be overwhelmed by all of them at once. In addition, your play grants Ip and Xp, allowing the player to expand their own complexity, with masteries and new champions at a manageable rate. As more and more champions are encounted, team compositions, lane matchups, and various other depth bringing complexities are encountered.

Now, lets do a study in comparison: DotA2, LoLs largest competitor has all the Heroes unlocked from the start. Why?

Simply because DotA is not functional using only a 10 hero subset of the pool. The game would not work, and is not designed to work like that. Imagine if you will, a version of pokemon, where instead of one starter pokemon, you were given roughly 400 first evolution pokemon. Thats overwhelming, but it gets worse: Instead of broad type matchups (water beats fire etc), super effectiveness / resistance was on a pokemon by pokemon basis. There is nothing wrong with this approach, merely it is highly complex.

I would posit that a game with that much complexity would be hard to get into.

tl;dr: LoL has restricted champion pool to reduce the complexity the new players have to face. DotA does not because the game simply wouldn’t be functional.

CoL & EHOME qualify for StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor

The qualifiers of the last Minor of the 2018-2019 DPC are currently taking place across the globe with teams making their best effort to secure qualification. A few hours ago the NA side confirmed its participation in the tournament.

StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor season 2 is one of the most anticipated competitions of the years since every team wants to get a spot for the EPICENTER Major. The NA qualifiers ended with the grand finale between, J. Storm and compLexity Gaming. These two teams showed impressive results in the last fews days and fought in the final for the last spot of the Minor. At the end of the an entertaining series, coL came out on top.

Tough luck for coL

The coL lineup was predicted to have a solid 2018-2019 campaign. Yet they failed to make an impact on the big stage. The first Major of the team was MDL Disneyland® where they had a tough campaign. They lost two out of their three games played in the group stage. Then they beat beast coast in the first round of the lower bracket after that they were eliminated when they lost 2-0 to PSG. LGD. This poor result led the organization to make changes to its lineup by recruiting, the Brazilian, Otávio Gabriel ‘tavo’ Cerqueira Silva into their ranks. The team performed quite well in the qualifiers of the EPICENTER Major. But, unfortunately had to face EG in the grand finals where they were completely outplayed. So with no EG in the qualifiers of the Minor, coL was expected to get the qualification and indeed they got it.

quailified for minor! major dream still alive boys!!

EHOME not giving up

After coL, EHOME secured a spot for the Minor. EHOME had a very unconvincing DPC season. The team had to make tons of roster changes owing to injuries and personal issues. Recently, Zhang ‘faith_bian’ Ruida returned to take charge and redeem EHOME chances of qualifying for the TI9. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get a spot for the EPICENTER Major and had to take the long road through the minor qualifiers. The squad hosts some of the most decorated players in the competitive landscape of Dota 2.

EHOME will surely aim to secured the direct invite for the event by securing a spot in the top 12 DPC rankings. For this purpose they will at least need to make it to the grand final of the StarLadder Minor. Then hope for the best possible result in the last Major of the season. Since a lot of teams will be eye the last four DPC spots.

We will have to wait for a day to see which teams secured to the Minor. By the end of tomorrow we’ll know all the teams that will be competing in the StarLadder. It will surely be an exciting competition that will determine the two team that will compete in the EPICENTER.

Denying

Denying is the act of preventing enemy heroes from getting the last hit on a friendly unit by last hitting the unit oneself. Enemies earn reduced experience if the denied unit is not controlled by a player, and no experience if it is a player controlled unit. Enemies gain no gold from any denied unit. All allied units can be denied once they fall below a certain percentage of health: creeps, and non-hero units at 50%, heroes at 25%, and towers at 10%. However, heroes can only be denied under special circumstances. Illusions and couriers cannot be denied.

To deny a unit, an attack command has to be ordered on the unit. Unless the “Right-Click to Force Attack” option is enabled, right-clicking the unit does not work, since right-clicking allies gives a move order, not an attack order.

A creep is not considered denied if a neutral creep (e. g. Roshan) deals the finishing blow and thus will give full experience to the enemy heroes.

Contents

Besides couriers, every non-hero unit can be denied, including creep-heroes. They can be denied once their health falls below 50%. Denying an allied, non-player-controlled unit (lane creeps which are not taken over by players) grants 40% of its experience bounty to enemies within the 1500 experience range, instead of 100%. The denying player also gains 20% of the creep’s gold bounty when denying. Denying a player-controlled unit grants 0% experience to the enemy, and also none to the denying team.

Especially in the laning phase, denying allied lane creeps is important to create a gold and experience advantage. It can lead to having a level advantage over the enemy, opening up a chance to get a kill on them. Gold-wise, it cripples the enemy’s farming, slowing them down significantly, if they depend on farming gold. Creeps should be denied whenever possible, although getting last hits should be prioritised. Denying creeps is also important to shift the creep equilibrium towards closer to the own tower and away from the enemy tower.

Player-controlled units can be denied as well, but unlike lane creeps, most summons expire after a while, so that their bounties can be “denied” in other ways than killing them manually with attacking. For many small summons, this does not make much of a difference, but can still be done when possible. Especially when having multiple units, they can be used to deny each other. Bigger summons, like Warlock’s Golem and Spirit Bear , should always be attempted to deny, since they usually have significant gold and experience bounties. Denying these units is an excellent way to prevent giving the enemy free gold and experience when the unit is unlikely to survive.

Towers may only be denied once they drop to 10% health and below, yielding half its gold bounty to the enemy team and half to the denying team. Denying a tower also prevents an enemy player from receiving the 150-250 bonus gold for the last-hit.

Heroes can also be denied under specific circumstances. A denied hero prevents the enemy from gaining any experience or gold from the kill, but still loses gold upon death.

A hero under 25% health and under the effects of certain spells can be denied by an allied hero. The spells that allow denying allied heroes are:

During Supernova , Phoenix may be denied in a similar fashion if the sun is below 50% health.

It is possible to deny oneself (commit suicide) in a variety of ways:

It is also possible to deny allied heroes with some abilities:

  • Centaur Warrunner ‘s Retaliate fully works against allied attacks, resulting in a deny when its damage kills an ally.
  • Chen ‘s Holy Persuasion , Enchantress ‘ Enchant , Lifestealer ‘s Control and Helm of the Dominator ‘s Dominate can be used on an enemy ranged unit that has a projectile attack in flight, and results in the denial of an allied hero if the attack deals the finishing blow.
  • Oracle ‘s False Promise , if cast on an ally under the effect of an enemy Winter Wyvern ‘s Winter’s Curse that takes enough damage to die from allied heroes will be denied, rather than having the kill granted to Wyvern.

Answer is yes. Is it playable? Probably not even at the lowest settings possible.

You can play Dota 2 with these specs, but at low settings because it will have lag. Also, you may have little lag while moving the camera, but that’s not a big thing, you can probably get used to it.

But your processor is really bad, to be honest.

PS: 4 GB RAM is really enough if you play Dota 2 without additional programs opened. The game is not that memory intensive on low graphics, the processor is the only thing you need to have in mind.

Unfortunately, can’t upgrade the processor hehehe 😛
I really appreciate the feedback.

hopefully I could play some Esports games using my laptop.

Reviewing The Shanghai Major Qualifiers

The Shanghai Major has now concluded its qualifier, 2 months ahead of its main event. Let’s look qualifiers and its winners and what the road to Shanghai from here on out will look like.

Qualifier and its winners

The qualifier had only a few surprises and upsets. Most of the teams that were expected to go through the qualifier with ease d > Team Liquid , PSG. LGD and Fnatic were heavy favorites going into the their regional qualifiers and proved why. All three teams only gave away a total of 2 games each in their entire run.

As for the Americas qualifier, it wasn’t as clearcut going into it. Team Archon certainly was amongst the favorite, but it seemed to be a three-way race between them, Digital Chaos and compLexity Gaming . Archon prevailed against both squads, forcing them to decide the 2nd place in the lower bracket, which coL took home.

South-East Asia also had a rather big favorite for 2nd place in MVP Phoenix , but WinteR’s Mineski Malaysia gave them quite the run in the groupstage, forcing a tiebreaker.

China and Europe fielded a more competitive and close fighting field–thus creating a few more upsets and surprises. In China, TI2 champions INVICTUS GAMING fell short to their youth squad iG. Vitality , whereas CDEC. Avenger , the third CDEC squad, took first place in their group against the likes of Newbee or Wings Gaming.

Interestingly enough, if the format for the groups had been the same as it was for Frankfurt, where a win in the bo2 series would result in 3 points, as opposed to now 2, Wings Gaming would’ve advanced as 2nd in the group. Instead, both teams were tied and Wings lost the tiebreaker. Eventually Newbee even took the 2nd place in the qualifier, thus making it to Shanghai.

Europe was dominated by a vast line-up of strong CIS teams, but even going into the qualifier, one stood out to be potentially the strongest and they proved it immediately as well. Team. Spirit has taken the 2nd EU spot convincingly and outshone the rest of the competition. The qualifier still saw a bit of a surprise, as former Frankfurt Major invite Vega Squadron only placed 4th.

Regional Metas

Everytime there is a large qualifier across multiple regions in such a short timespan, you’ll truly see how the metas in each region differ, as there is usually not enough time for teams to pick up on strategies and metas from other regions.

Pick differences

There are a few notable heroes that get picked more often in certain regions, while completely ignored in others. Faceless Void is a prime example here. He’s been picked a total of 33 times throughout the past week, but not a single European team played him. In general, Europe has been the “least diverse” region, as they have a total of 31 heroes that were neither picked nor banned throughout the qualifiers, the highest amount out of all regions. (SEA: 30, China: 29, Americas: 26) The Americas seem even more flexible when looking at the amount of heroes that have either been picked or banned only once. While they have only 7 heroes in that regard, Europe and SEA both sit at 14 and China at 17.

Witch Doctor was the 6th most picked hero overall, but almost half of those games (28/63) were played in the Americas qualifier. Similarly, Invoker has seen much more play in the Americas and South-East Asia, which is most likely due to a higher banrate in Europe and China. Dota 2 shanghai major standings mlb There, he was banned in 30 and 34 games respectively, compared to the Americas’ 22 and SEA’s 23.

Speaking of notable bans, Enchantress was banned in a total of 38 games in just the Americas, where she has been played 11 times, out of a total of 24 throughout the entire qualifier, almost exclusively as an offlaner.

Each region seemed to had its unique flavor and preferences with China standing out quite a bit. Chen, one of the most successful heroes of the event, has been almost entirely neglected by the Chinese teams. The Chinese however have put much more emphasis on one of the new additions to the Captain’s Mode, Earth Spirit. While Earth Spirit has been a more targeted ban in Europe, mostly towards Team Liqu > OG. JerAx , China seems to be more scared of the hero. This is probably due to his consistent winrate of over 50% in 5k+ MMR pub games in China, with a pickrate of now 31% this month. In comparison, you’ll only see ES in 13% of your games at an only 52% winrate. In fact, looking at China’s inhouse league CDEC Classic, you’ll see that he’s been banned in 63% of the games ever since he’s been introduced into Captain’s Mode.

For Europe, the flavor has been push orientated heroes. Aside from Chen, Lycan and Lone Druid have been rather popular.

Winrates differences

Now that we’ve looked at the different pick behavior, let’s see how successful certain heroes have been in different regions.

A lot of winrates directly relate to the pick behavior as well. Chen, 71% winrate, and Lycan, 71% winrate, have both been so popular in Europe because they are also successful. Amongst the heroes that have been picked in Europe at least 10 times, these two have the highest winrates. In fact, they even occupy 2 top3 spots for winrates with at least 15 games played across all regions. Only Sven has been more successful (73% in 15 games). To round out the top 5, Death Prophet, 63% winrate in 41 games, and Earth Spirit, 63% winrate in 27 games, join the fray.

Aside from Death Prophet though, none of these heroes were consistently picked across all regions. So what about these heroes that have been consistently picked? Tusk has quite the steady winrate of around 50% in EU and SEA, and 60% in China and NA/SA.

Gyrocopter is also still very much popular and remains a solid pick with an overall 53% winrate. Just beware in Europe, he’s been much less successful there (37% winrate)

As you can tell by both win and pickrates, each region is still finding their own meta and only slowly will we see a more global one. Historically speaking, we should see a much more refined meta the closer we get to Shanghai with common core picks and bans.

Road To Shanghai

So what can we expect to see in the next few weeks leading up to Shanghai?

Right now, StarLadder and i-League are running their LAN finals in Minsk, with 9 teams attending that will also be at the Shanghai Major. Later this month, MarsTV’s MDL will carry out their Chinese Qualifier for their own LAN event, which already has invited OG , Vici Gaming and Evil Geniuses , while compLexity and Team Spirit also qualified.

No other LAN event has been announced yet. It is a timeframe that organizers want to avoid, as the Chinese teams celebrate Chinese New Year on February 8, followed by weeks of vacation.

There are however DotaPit qualifiers to look out for, as the LAN finals will take place shortly after the Major. Only 4 Major participants (Liquid, Alliance, Spirit and coL) will play the qualifier though.

In 7 weeks from now, the Shanghai Major will open its doors, although the groupstage will possibly start sooner. The 16 teams are set, the favorites are starting to establish themselves, but the line-up looks quite competitive yet again. Looks like we’re in for a treat.

veil of discord building problems

trying to build veil discord while having boots of speed and gloves of hast. The problem is when you try to buy robes of the magi while having those extra items it will you belt of strength instead and build power treads. It will show you the robes of the magi in storage, but once the carrier brings it to you and it enter your inventory then it changes into belt of strength. You can fix this issue by selling you gloves of hast and boots of speed first, then buying robes of the magi. But you lose gold because of the bug. That includes buying robes while your in the fountain and trying to sell it back right away. You wont get the 450 gold back because it turns into belt of strength and the game will consider it a used item even if you bought it a second ago. please fix this asap since I use veil of discord with a lot of people. This happen when I played with winter wyvern and disrupter.

First of all you can build PT not only with belt but also with robe and band. That means if you have a brown boot and a gloves, upon getting a robe gives you an int PT(you can switch freely to str and agi)
Next time you want to build veil while having boots and gloves, either keep your robes in your stash/courier or simply drop them from your stash so if you die you wont accidently build a pt when you respawn. And if you have null talisman and helm of iron will in your inventory, while delivering your 2 robes just drop either boots or gloves on the ground and complete your veil, then pick up your item. Or another alternative is keeping your gloves in the stash while keeping 1-2 robes in your inventory. (Although i dont understand why you buy gloves on dis or ww but it’s your choice)
Everything i wrote above are intended not bug.

PS: i’m just a member on this site. What i wrote is not the official statement of this website.

The problem is robes themselves change into another item all together. Even is you disassemble PT using robes right away it turns into Belt of strength instead. Am pretty sure when you disassemble your a post to get your items you used and not a completely different item. How is that intentional and not a bug? Every other item you build gives you back what you use when you disassemble them, why is an exception with ROM?

Well the issue is that power treads does not remember which of the three items (robe, band, belt) you used to create them. So I suppose it could be changed to remember what created them but more bugs could arise from that. In general this issue stems from the fact that standard treads are with a belt, so standard break down of the item is the belt even if it was not built with one. I would not call it a bug because normally you can’t disassemble treads anyway, so it is only a problem when you make them by mistake and did not use belt in the recipe. I would say that treads should be set to remember but that is a lot of work to fix an avoidable corner case. For now just put down your boots or gloves before you make veil, maybe valve will get to it (if the coding allows it).
