In this gu >[www. gimp. org] if you are on a budget and not an artist. If you are using Windows, the default Paint program may be sufficient for our purposes, but will likely make it difficult due to the lack of features available in other programs.
A useful tool for viewing images and not necessarily editing them is IrfanView [www. irfanview. com] .
If you would like to dig through Dota’s file structures to see what you can edit on your own time, I recommend using GCFScape [nemesis. thewavelength. net] .

As always, run an unfamiliar file that you’ve downloaded from the internet through a virus scanner before opening it.

VPK Override
We’ll be replacing files in Dota’s file structure, so first we’ll need to go into Dota 2’s launch options and enter – override_vpk so the game knows where to look.

I also use – novid to remove the Valve logo at the game’s startup. It’s not needed for this walkthrough.

Dota 2 is programmed to look in pak01_dir. vpk for all of its resources, but if we turn on – vpk_overr >

After you’ve decided which icon you’d like to replace, open up GCFScape, find it in the file structure, and extract it to give yourself an easy template to work off of.

Have you noticed how the default tango icon still has 3 orbs, even though the recent buff to it gave it 4 charges? Let’s fix that.

By default, item icons should be 88 x 64 pixels, with 36 x 64 pixels blank immediately to its right. We will be editing within the 88 x 64 pixels, while leaving the 36 x 64 blank.

After you’ve put the finishing touches on it and it fits within the designated workspace, save it as a. Dota 2 icon modify PNG file, and place it in \Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\resource\flash3\images\items . Then, load up Dota 2 to check if your mod worked. Don’t forget – override_vpk!

Notice that the number 4 in the bottom corner is placed there by the game, and is not editable. Remember to leave space there so you can see it!

Skill and spell icons work on the same basic principle. When you extract the skill icons, notice that they’re 128 x 128 pixels in size, with no blank space.

After you’ve edited it as you please, save it as a a. Dota 2 icon modify PNG and place it in \Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\resource\flash3\images\spellicons

The Chinese game client icons as well as many other mods can be downloaded here [sites. google. com] .

Again, check Dota 2 to see if it worked.

Notice that the mana icon in the bottom corner is not editable, and is placed there by the game. Remember to not put any important details where it would be covered up. Certain abilities also place the skill icon above the health bar as a status indicator, such as Ancient Apparition’s Chilling Touch. Some of those abilities will place a number on it, take notice of which ones so you can make the numbers more noticeable if you wish.

Pudge lvl 1 has nothing. No armor, poor dmage. Just go aggresssive on him right at lvl 1, maybe get both sups there, kill him and kill him again when he tps back. Ez. Underleveled Pudge is a glorified creep.

Iminsul I agree. Pudge in your own team can be a nightmare. Pudge is not a support hero, he sucks at that role. I think Pudge is a core, mainly a mid if you need someone that comes online fast, dictates the tempo and creates space for you pos1. I have met very few people who can play a proper Pudge. Those who do are pretty amazing though.

Pudge is such a bad hero this patch honestly. Just have proper vision in the laning stage so he can’t shut you down, and pick heroes that work properly. I love picking a naga or ursa or sven or jug, whatever versatile hero that loves to be hooked and then slamma jamma on that hamma. Real tips to dodge hooks:

1. If a pudge is walking toward you, walk in a straight line, and watch his model carefully. When his hook animation begins, immediately click a perpendicular path to where you were walking. A slight adjustment won’t get you out of the way in time, you need to go completely sideways.

2. Stay the hell away from choke points. If you walk into a ramp, or a treeline, or near a tower, your hero runs out of options to maneuver around the hook. A good pudge will get a 100% hook on you in those spots.

3. Never stand still. If you’re last hitting, walk into the wave and last hit where you’re surrounded by other targets that the hook will hit.

4. Keep a better mental note of day and night time and play to your vision advantage. Pudge needs wards to get hooks off at night time. If you’re dewarding consistently he’ll have a hard time seeing what he’s throwing hooks at, and likewise, you’ll see the hook coming if you have vision of where he’s standing.

5. Play heroes with instant cast stuns or jukes. You can often avoid getting dismembered by pre-casting your spell or item while you’re being hooked. If you have a euls, just target the euls on pudge when he hooks you and you may be able to walk away. Puck can phase shift, lion and shaman can hex, shaker can echo, etc.

Teams of the Next DPC Season: Part 2

Uncertainty is over and now confusion takes its place. Many notable rosters have decided to change organizations and are going to represent a different tag. With so many heavy changes the questions remains: where do the fans go? Do they keep being loyal to the team or to the players?

Virtus. pro — epileptick1d | No[o]ne | Resolut1on | Save – | Solo

Virtus. Pro is finally settled, at least for the first round of the DPC. The only remaining players from the legendary roster are VP. No[o]ne-♥ and VP. Solo , so the backbone is still there, giving fans a bit of hope.

The addition of Resolut1on as an offlaner is also a move that can pay off greatly. Roman is still among the most mechanically gifted players in the scene, though position three might take some time for him to adjust to. He is mostly known for his farming prowess, not for his playmaking capabilities. On the other hand, a player that typically overperforms at the International and gets charged by the crowd might be a right move for the organization with an underwhelming TI history.

The last pieces of the roster are both incredibly young and very new to the professional scene. VP. Save started his career in May, playing for FlyToMoon and so far d > VP. epileptick1d is even younger and even less experienced—Virtus. Pro is his first professional team. But he is consistently in the top of MMR leaderboards, currently being the first in the core list.

Great leadership, experienced playmakers and young talent on the flashy roles—this roster is reminiscent of Chinese rosters in its approach. Will it pay off for the former CIS powerhouse or will we see further reshuffles for the team? We don’t know, but it does look promising.

Gambit Esports — dream` | gpk | Shachlo | XSvamp1Re | fng

The team that almost made it to TI through the DPC and then faltered during the qualifiers might be back with a vengeance. Perhaps the most international squad of the CIS with players from four different countries is going to keep its captain in Gambit. fng who has already proved himself countless times.

The only other experienced player on the roster is Gambit. Shachlo who has a long history in Dota, but so far didn’t have a lot of success. Given the current trends of offlaners mostly being utility, there is an argument to be made that this role should be filled with sacrificial experienced players and Shachlo fits the description perfectly. He can be a playmaker, a frontliner and, given the experience, a great help for fng in terms of in-game coordination.

The last point is going to be incredibly important, given how the rest of the roster is filled with young, promising talent. The oldest of them, Gambit. XSvamp1Re , is a 21 years old player from Kazakhstan who previously played for The Pango in ESL One Mumbai. He will take over position four support role in the roster.

Gambit. gpk is best known for his run in the CIS qualifiers with Vega Squadron, where his team went undefeated in groups, but then couldn’t compete with the experience of Na’Vi in BO3 double elimination playoffs. He is an explosive mid who is currently the second highest MMR core in the European leaderboards.

The last player on the roster is going to be Gambit. dream` , who grew from the Empire’s academy teams “Hope” and “Faith”, before becoming a part of the main roster. While Empire didn’t look particularly impressive last season, it could be the same old problem with the lack of leadership in the region, rather than skill. Dream` currently holds the fifth position in the European core leaderboards and we believe that under the guidance of fng both him, XSvamp1re and gpk can grow into respectable and well-known players.

Ninjas in Pyjamas — Skiter | Gunnar | Universe | Biver | ppd

Once again NiP are rebuilding around NiP. ppd , this time with a mostly American squad. Peter is still among the most renowned NA captains who moved to Europe in the last DPC season and had decent success at Minor and Major tournaments. His TI9 run, however, was anything but successful, with a last place elimination during the group stage, so the change was needed.

On the new NiP he is going to be reunited with a former teammate he lifted the Aegis with — Universe . One of the most experienced veterans of the NA scene, Universe has been rather quiet after leaving EG last year. He will take over his iconic offlane role on the new squad and will hopefully return to his former form, where he could be considered the best in his position. Shifts in meta towards heavy utility offlaners can help him greatly in that regard.

NiP. Gunnar had an interesting and dramatic story last year, where he would often get kicked out of his teams by EternalEnvy. It is hard to tell whether it was skill or personality-related, but we hope his road to a potential TI this year is going to be less bumpy and he will get a chance to prove that there is still new talent in the NA region that can compete at the highest level.

NiP. Skiter will take over the hard carry position for the new roster. A relatively unknown Slovakian player has almost four years of experience in the professional scene, but most of it comes from playing against Tier 2 teams. His adjustment to playing higher level Dota is crucial for the success of the squad, considering how the rest of the roster, Gunnar included, lean towards space-creation and not outright carrying the game.

The final part of the squad is going to be Biver , who used to play for Na’Vi several years ago. It looked like it would be the high point of his career, but the Danish player refuses to give up on his dreams and comes back to prove himself once again. Unlike most position four supports, Biver is not greedy and not particularly flashy. In the current meta it can become a bit of a detriment for the squad, but perhaps the reliability is what Peter needs from his second support.

Alliance — Nikobaby | Limmp | 33 | Handsken | Fata

The new Alliance is an interesting team. You have Alliance. Fata and Alliance.33 who came directly from NiP, with former finally letting younger players take over the core roles. This duo should be quite impressive, given how 33 is still rated highly as one of the most versatile offlane players in the scene that can adapt to any situation and Fata has almost eight years of experience.

You also have Alliance. Limmp and Alliance. Handsken who have played together on different teams for so many years and have already played for Alliance previously. It’s hard to call them star players on their respective positions, but they’ve always managed to achieve stable results, no matter what roster they were on.

Finally, there is Alliance. Nikobaby who, we feel, is going to be the x-factor for the team. He’s been in the scene for a while, but never on a top team. This The International, however, he just exploded, becoming one of the scariest carry players in terms of stats. Yes, there is a bit of chaos and instability in him, but this team really needs it, given how the rest of the players are mostly praised for their consistency and versatility, rather than their ability to play their heart out on a good day.

It is hard to tell whether this Alliance is an upgrade over the old roster, but it certainly deserves at least some attention.

Team Liquid — miCKe | qojqva | Boxi | Taiga | iNSaNiA

Despite losing in the first round of the loser’s bracket, this team has caught the attention of many last year with their relentless and incessant improvement from tournament to tournament. Whether it was Loda’s influence or the players started gluing together better, but by the end of the year they were a team to be taken seriously and we don’t think that the change of organisation is going to change that.

In-game Guides [ edit ]

Guides (sometimes also called Hero Builds) are guides created by players, that can suggest items and highlight abilities to level. They can be created and shared by players either in-game or through the Hero Builds Editor.

“Hero Builds Editor” has been out of order, probably since 2014.

Changes [ edit ]

Detailed talents now show up on the Guide panel – In the Loadout / Strategy and the In-Game viewer.

Hero Guide Viewer now has sorting options for Your Guides and All Guides.
Author Name and Last Updated Time has been added to the Guide Viewer.
Hero Guide Viewer now also displays visual entries for Abilities and Talents.
Tooltip has been added to the favorite star on the Guide Viewer.

Fixed a couple of UI issues on the Guide Builder tool.

However, Crystal Maiden is quite fragile even compared to other supports, and is one of the slowest heroes in the game.

Crystal Nova [ edit ]

Crystal Nova is a large area of effect nuke that also slows enemies’ movement and attack speed.
Use Crystal Nova to harass enemies out of lane. The movement and attack speed slows should prevent the enemies from fighting back with attacks.

Frostbite roots the target enemy while also disarming them and dealing damage over time.
Frostbite can be a strong disable due to its ability to instantly immobilize an enemy. Magic Wand is very useful on Crystal Ma >Boots of Speed are a crucial early purchase on Crystal Ma >Wind Lace also gives movement speed boost for cheap, and builds into various items.
Town Portal Scroll should be carried on Crystal Maiden as her disables can turn ganks around.

Tranquil Boots are the cheapest upgradable boots available, and allow Crystal Ma >Glimmer Cape can be a useful item to purchase if you intend on making use of Freezing Field regularly, and is otherwise a good support item. Casting the active on yourself prior to jumping in with your ultimate can give you a little extra time to channel it, allowing you to deal more damage. In other situations, it can give you or an ally the ability to stealthily initiate on targets you have vision on, or can be used as an escape or survivability tool by granting someone on your team invisibility and greatly increased magic resistance.

Blink Dagger augments Crystal Maiden’s mobility, allowing her to instantly jump within range for locking down enemy heroes with her disables. The improved mobility also allows her to move around the map more easily to support her teammates, or escape pursuing enemies.

Eul’s Scepter of Divinity grants Crystal Ma >Force Staff is a good cheap support item to build on Crystal Ma >Black King Bar is an expensive luxury item that should be considered only if given farm priority and all other support duties have been met. It prevents interruptions to her ultimate, as well as increasing the size of Crystal Maiden’s health pool.

Ghost Scepter gives survivability against attacking carries by granting Crystal Ma >Urn of Shadows is a good utility item for a roaming Crystal Ma >Drum of Endurance gives Crystal Ma >Veil of Discord is a cheap utility item that gives Crystal Ma >Aether Lens is a strong caster item that greatly improves Crystal Ma >Meteor Hammer can be used as an extra means of disabling enemies when combined with Frostbite. What are Dota2 skins and how do they improve your gaming experience? Where can you find great Dota2 skins? How much do they cost?

As a regular Dota 2 player, you’re probably up to date with what skins are, what they are used for, and what they can do during the game. But if you are just getting started with Dota 2, or you simply want to find out more about Dota 2 skins, then this article is definitely for you.

Items versus Skins

Just like Counter Strike, Team Fortress, or Warframe, you can also purchase items and skins for Dota 2.

There are 2 types of items: cosmetic items and power boosting items. Skins are part of the first category, as they have a purely visually enhancing role; skins do not affect the abilities and powers of Heroes.

What are power boosting items? They give Heroes enhanced abilities and functions so they can perform better during a battle. Power/Ability enhancing items are not tied to a particular Hero, therefore you must pay increased attention when choosing your items. Some items won’t work on some Heroes, while other items can be combined for improved results. In short, these items provide additional benefits to Heroes that the leveling up process cannot.

Tip: A Hero can have a maximum of 6 items in his Inventory, and a maximum of 6 items in his Stash. If you get more items, they will be automatically dropped in the fountain.

Dota 2 Skins You Can’t Miss

There are a lot of skins to choose from in Dota 2. This is part of the game’s charm, and a lot of players go above and beyond to personalize their Dota 2 experience. Skins don’t interfere with the mechanics of the game, they are purely decorative.

1. Equipment Skins

This skins type is used to change the way a Hero looks, from their clothes to the way their weapons are designed. While these skins do not alter the Heroes’ powers, they can definitely give your hero a fiercer look.

2. Couriers

As the name suggests, the Couriers are items that take the form of a donkey / flying donkey. Their main responsibility is to carry your items to and from your base. Animal Couriers and Flying Couriers are considered Consumable Items.

You can also customize your courier in the loadout screen. You can equip the Couriers with specific visual elements. Once again, these elements do not influence the way the Courier performs. However, there are some Unusual Couriers which come with a special effect. The effect can be either Ethereal Gem or Prismatic Gem.

Custom Couriers are classified in 5 categories: Rare, Mythical, Legendary, Immortal, Ancient.

3. Announcers

This collection of cosmetic items is a bit different, because it does not change the way a Hero or a player looks. What it does is it changes the voice of the Announcer with explosive commentaries, unruly humor, or a drunken Pirate Captain. There are a lot of Announcers items to choose from – can you decide which voice is your favourite?

4. Custom Wards

Are you getting bored with the way your wards look? With Custom Wards you can change the appearance of your Observer Wards and Sentry Wards.

The Chains of Abscession, an ancient relic corrupted by the Dead God, now serves its master in its desire to hunt down Anti-Mage. [11] It has since fallen into Pudge’s hands, who now seems to share the Chains’ desire of consuming Anti-Mage. [12]

Yurnero is a highly disciplined swordsman, one of the Juggernauts, and the last surviving member of his kind. He hails from the Isle of Masks, a lost land that sunk into the sea. Juggernaut dota 2 logo 32 Stern and serious, Yurnero lives by his honor, and disdains the silly and mischievous. [1] Relying on the bladeform techniques of his homeland, Yurnero has vanquished many beasts, demons, and abominations, [2] and seeks endlessly to improve his craft. He wears a mask over his face at all times, perhaps out of ritualistic devotion to the Isle’s gods.

Origins [ edit ]

The Isle of Masks is Yurnero’s native land, ruled by numerous lords and home to various deities. Yurnero worships at least one of these gods, making pilgrimages to Temple of Masks to pay his respects and perform rituals to the Maker of Masks. [3] Steeped in tradition, the Isle of Masks is home to Juggernauts, who cons >[4]

Trained in the ways of the blade, Yurnero soon became an accomplished swordmaster, and received a katana named after the legendary Akakiryu to go with this distinction. [5] A collector of swords, he owns items of jade and stone, crafted by the Kuur-Ishiminari, and a rare blade forged by the ancient smith Sabasteen. [6] He also possesses an inscribed sword, holding a soul sealed within, as well as a risky, unguarded blade as testament to his skills. [7] Perhaps the most powerful weapon in his collection is a blade of The Lost Order, an ancient school whose techniques sliced through the fabric of reality itself. [8] Along with swordsmanship, Yurnero has mastered the island’s healing arts, performing rituals around totems to mend wounds. [9]

Yurnero demonstrates his prowess by facing down great beasts, claiming their bones and tusks as honored trophies. [10] On the Ivory Isles, he slew thieves who stole its precious artifacts, and claimed a mask of Corodont ivory for himself. [11] Even unarmed, the Juggernaut is a force to be reckoned with, and once killed a mountain wolf with his bare hands. [12]

Exile [ edit ]

Bound by honor, Yurnero’s personal ethics eventually caused him to defy a corrupt lord. For this, he was cons >[13] Instead, he was cast out of the Isle to live as an exile, but not before receiving a prized hakama from his last swordmaster. [14] A special mask was also bestowed up on him, to signify his status as an outcast. [15]

Perhaps through premonition, Yurnero knew that after his exile, he would never set foot on the Isle of Masks again. [16] His prediction would come to pass. Not long after, he found himself the sole survivor of his people when the Isle was sunk through the work of terrible magic, killing his family. Despite this, Yurnero never grieves, preferring to replace sorrow with a personal quest for honor. [17] [18] Vowing to continue the ways and traditions of his homeland, he still performs rites to the Faceless Ones, invoking the Visage of Vengeance in the process. [19] Although the Temple of Masks had been destroyed, Yurnero carries out its rituals as he had before, only now on the battlefield. [20] The sole remaining practioner of the Isle’s unique martial arts, Yurnero’s discipline never waivers as he continues to practice and hone his skills. As a ronin, Yurnero has been known to carry a second sword, slung over his shoulder, just in case his primary weapon is insufficient. [21]

The Sundering [ edit ]

In an unspecified event, possibly a duel, [22] Sven cleaved Yurnero’s mask in two with the Adjudicator’s Blade, [23] cracking its top and awakening the ancestral souls that la >[24] Among the spirits was an ancient dragon, who now accompanies Yurnero and contributes his powers to him. [25] Thus, the Juggernaut became a being merged from many souls. The dragon’s might, combined with the strength of his ancestors, made him more powerful than ever before. [26] Yurnero and his dragon are grateful for Sven’s actions, and feel they owe Sven a debt of gratitude. [27]

After the sundering, the Juggernaut and his dragon planned to restore what they have lost. [28] Once the Ancient is destroyed, they vowed to bring back their people and begin the rebirth of the Isle of Masks. [29] [30]

Yurnero once had a romantic relationship with Lanaya, but the two broke up after he d >[31] Lanaya feels jilted and has not gotten over the breakup. She is quite angry at Yurnero, to the extent of threatening violence, [32] and attempting to make him jealous. [33]

Azwraith is an old friend of Yurnero’s. [34] They both know Kanna, and Yurnero often asks Azwraith about rumors regarding Kanna’s return. [35] Long ago, Yurnero also used to train with Xin, with interesting results. [36]

Finally, Yurnero is concerned about the rise of Sorla Khan, the violent and unreasonable new Oglodi leader of the Red Mist army. He wishes to discuss a solution to the problem with Axe. [37]
