One of the smartest things Valve’s done with Dota 2 is hook it up to Steam Workshop –the curated platform provided by Valve for players to create and submit mods for the game. The community can vote for the ones they like and, if Valve agrees, it’ll get added to the game.

Once added, players can either earn the items by leveling up and playing games through the matchmaking system, trade for them with other players, or just flat-out buy them for cash from Valve.

Dota 2’s community has only just begun to scratch the surface of the potential hero skins, ability mods, announcer voice packs, and courier upgrades. Here are my favorites of what’s out there so far.

1. The Forgemaster’s Tools Bundle

Category: Item bundle | For: Axe | Price: $2.99

This equipment bundle isn’t the most spectacular looking or the most dread-inducing, but it’s the best of the cheap low-priced bundles. It doesn’t take a dramatic twist or a whimsical flair that morphs his namesake into a bundle of flowers or something. Axe is still about the axe with this bundle–but is portrayed as a humble blacksmith who wasn’t trained for battle but picked up his weapon in a moment of desperation to fight for something he holds dear–family, home, or something else. I like the narrative this bundle creates more than the standard “one-man army grunt soldier” that’s Axe’s official backstory.

2. Morok’s Mechanical Mediary

Category: Courier | For: All heroes | Price: $7.99

The official description may claim this wonderful mechanical spider-bot was born from frugality and laziness, but you’re only going to need one of those traits to pick up this little guy. $8 isn’t pocket change, but for the price of a large burrito you can bring this lovable robot butler into every match (as long as you’re the one buying couriers for your team). Sure beats having that jackass courier follow you around.

3. Healing Ward of the Kuur-Ashiminari

Category: Ability mod | For: Juggenaut | Price: $5.99

This one’s pretty niche: if you like Juggernaut, use his W ability frequently, and prefer the look of this marble lion over the floating banner-torch that comes as the default, then this is something you might be interested in picking up. If you like trolling by chasing enemy players with the ward (Juggernaut’s W ability summons a healing ward that you can move independently of your character), it’s even more entertaining with this item mod.

4. Wuldastron the Twin-Blade of Giants

Category: Weapon | For: Sven | Price: $4.99

Sven is one lucky knight-gone-rogue. He has a ton of awesome weapon options available in the Workshop, but this one definitely trumps the rest. Nothing says “Get out of my way, you fool!” like a massive red sword with a wicked blade on top. It’s a bit pricier than the other options available to him but, unlike a lot of the rare items in the store, this one’s worth it.

5. A la carte pirate

Category: Equipment | For: Kunkka | Price: $3.74

It’s a shame there’s no scurvy scallywag bundle for Kunkka. Naval mine dota 2 lounge items He’s got some terrific pirate equipment mods, but until Valve bundles them with a discount, you’ll have to pick up the pieces separately. Thankfully, they’re all pretty cheap. This PCG-approved custom bundle includes the Captain’s Hook ($0.75), Pride of the Crew bandana ($1.49), Pegleg of the Cursed Pirate ($0.75), and Sword of the Seventy-Seven Seas ($0.75). Kunkka makes the most convincing pirate in the hero lineup, with the possible exception of this silly/scary Tidehunter bundle .

6. Naval Mine

Category: Weapon | For: Tidehunter | Price: $0.75

Cheap and effective. For less than a buck you can replace that gross half-eaten fish Tidehunter drags around with this much more dangerous it-might-explode-at-any-second naval mine . It’s not flashy, it’s not particularly clever, but it’s not seven bucks and it adds a fun twist without breaking the game’s lore. If you like breaking lore, and see ol’ Tidehunter as a big softie, you cold toss a cuddly squid plushy in that off-hand slot instead. Tidehunter easily has the best arsenal of items so far–if you play him regularly, you really need to check out all of his item mods .

7. Flower Staff of the Peace-Bringer (aka Hippy Stick)

Category: Weapon | For: Nature’s Prophet | Price: $1.49

Confession time: I hate the Nature Prophet’s head–his boring, weird face is absolutely offensive to my eyeballs. And since there are no item mods to completely cover up his face (although beards and large horns help hide it), the next best thing to do is distract from it. Enter the giant flower larger than half the heroes in the game . I dig the hippy vibe this powerful flower gives to the tree-huggingest hero around, and, as a bonus, it’ll troll any particularly uptight players that want everything Dota 2 to be gritty and serious.

8. Fearless Badger

Category: Courier | For: All heroes | Price: $7.99

Logan would never forgive me if I didn’t include this in the list. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to convince you on this one. I’ll let the official description of this particularly brave badger speak for itself: “Of all the creatures of the forest, the badger makes perhaps the finest courier. Fearless and quick, it bends its will to none save those who have earned its trust.”

Also, when you try to make a new build, site loops on loading something.

For now, we can write the build on paper and take a peek every few second. Just like old time.

Seems like, http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds/ is finally working.
But scratch builds still disappear from Dota client after reloading the map.

The problem still for me, can’t create builds in http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds/. It stays loading.

I’m a theory crafter who loses about 50% of my skill without my builds. I need skill builds, too. Not just item builds. So ingame build editor is insufficient for multiple reasons.

Builds at http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds cannot be opened or made new since

23 Dec 2016, and they have not synced to game client since 14 Dec 2016.

Top priority, can you please sync existing cloud builds with 7.0x game client?
Second priority, can you please update http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds to be compatible with 7.0x levelling changes?

The new shop/guide part of the GUI is so annoying I can’t find items anymore. I’m sure you’ve seen even the pro players moaning about it. You need to realise that most people like me are really lazy so to come here and post shows its a big issue for players. I have to go afk to search items in game. In the short term if you could have the shop capture keyboard straight away (instead of clicking on search box) when I open it so I could do something like

One of the handiest features of Dota 2 is its built in Hero Builds and Hero Build maker. The system allows you to pull up a whole selection of builds made by other players right in the game where it will highlight what to build and what abilities to put points into. The other half of it, the Hero Build Maker, gives you the tools to make your own builds and load them up in game for your own use, or share them with other players to be rated and commented on. The process is very simple and allows you to make as many builds as you want, for any of the heroes in the game.

The first step in making a new build is to head over to http://www. dota2.com/workshop/builds and log in to your steam account. Select “New Hero Build” and you’re on your way.

The next screen is where you can choose the hero you are creating a build for. They’re all there and can be filtered many different ways to narrow down the one you want. Simply Select your hero and you’ll be taken to the build creation screen where the real fun starts.

For starters you’re going to want to give your build a name. Try to go with something that describes what the build is about but also will make it appeal to other players if you plan on publishing it to the steam community. Franks All Damage Drow is good example of being descriptive and packing a punch in the style department.

Item Build

Next up you get the chance to add an item build. Both the item and ability builds are optional and you can have one without the other, but if you want to make a quality full featured build, you should include them both. When you add the item build an interface will pop up with a display of all the items in the game along with some categories to the left. These categories are “Starting Items” “Early Game” “Core Items” “Situational Items” and “New Items” ( allows you to create a custom category).

Each of these categories represents the order in which you should be buying the items, as well as which items are more crucial to the build (core items are the key to a build). Once you’ve got your item build planned out, simply drag and drop the items into the boxes you want them in and you’re done. In game the player will see these categories complete with their items when they open the shop menu.

Note: Author notes can be added to any item you wish by simply left clicking on it. Notes can be a great way to explain your item choices, or give some more detail on how they should be used.

Ability Build

Your Ability Build is the next and final step, and is actually the simplest one to complete. Each of the heroes abilities has 25 check boxes representing each level they could attain in a match. As you can only put one point in one ability per level, check off one ability per row all the way up to 25.

Note: You can also add notes to each of the abilities by left clicking on the ability image.

The builder has a few helpful hints built into it to keep you on the right track. It will not allow you to put a point into your ultimate until level 6, it wont allow you to chose more than one ability per level, and it will detect when an ability has been maxed and will not allow you to put more points into it.

Once you have your ability build completed you are ready to save your Hero Build. After saving, you will be returned to the Build front page and should see your newly created build under “Your Steam Cloud Builds”. Selecting the arrow to the right of the build name will allow you to view, edit, remove, or publish your build for all to use on the steam community.

To open Dota 2’s. vpk game files, all you will need is GCFScape.

The default installation for Dota 2 will place files at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2\dota (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dota 2 beta\dota if the game was installed during the beta). Navigate there in GCFScape and open pak01_dir. vpk . Once you have opened the vpk file, you can see directories and files. Once you have found what you want inside GCFScape, right-click and extract to the desired location on your computer.

macOS [ edit ]

To open. vpk files on macOS you’ll need to download Gridmount.

The Dota 2 game files are located at

/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/dota . Double click the file pak01_dir. vpk and Gridmount will automatically mount the file as a virtual drive.

When you’re finished, remember to unmount pak01_dir. vpk again, by either right clicking it and selecting “Eject” or by simply dragging the icon over the trashcan on the bottom right of the Dock.

Lanes

Lanes are a major feature of the map. There are the three distinct lanes, each with their own advantages. They are identified through several different tactical approaches.

Terminology [ edit ]

The lanes are commonly called top lane, mid lane, and bottom lane. These terms directly refer to them using their geographic location on the map.

The middle lane (often shortened to mid lane or mid) is the lane going directly from one base, across the river, to the opponent’s base. It is the quickest and shortest path to each base.

The top lane (often shortened to top) is the lane going from base to base via the top left corner of the map. It runs along the left and top sides of the map. Both the Radiant and Dire refer to this lane as the top lane. It is the Radiant Offlane and the Dire Safe Lane. It is adjacent to the Dire’s jungle and the creep wave often ends up fighting on the Dire’s side.

The bottom lane (often shortened to bot lane or bot) is the lane going from base to base via the bottom right corner of the map. It runs along the bottom and right sides of the map. Both the Radiant and Dire refer to this lane as the bot lane. It is the Dire Offlane and the Radiant Safe Lane. It is adjacent to the Radiant’s jungle and the creep wave often ends up fighting on the Radiant’s side.

Mid Lane [ edit ]

The mid lane is traditionally a solo lane. It involves a high degree of skill, usually involving a team’s best player. The mid laner must contest last hits and denies to control the flow of gold and exp in their favor. This has the benefit of controlling the power of the enemy mid laner, while also bolstering your own strength. The player who “wins” the mid lane essentially is able to gank the side lanes successfully as well as push down the enemy’s mid lane tower, gaining map control for his entire team. Much play in the mid lane also revolves around rune control and avoiding smoke ganks.

Safe Lane [ edit ]

The safe lane is the lane adjacent to your jungle. Since it’s longer, your creeps will take more time to reinforce, keeping the creep wave closer to your tower and on your side of the river. As a result, heroes will be safer from ganks as they can stay under their tower. If your team has a jungler, he is also near in case of emergencies and a position near the tower. For the Radiant side, the bottom lane is the safe lane, running along the bottom of the map. For the Dire side, the top lane is the safe lane, running along the top of the map.

Offlane [ edit ]

The Offlane is adjacent to your secret shop and ancient camps. Due to the short reinforcement distance, your creeps will often end up on the opponent’s side of the river, leaving you in a vulnerable position next to their jungle. Being susceptible to heroes coming through the river makes this a more challenging lane, however strategically the Offlane is usually run solo for the Offlaner to quickly gain exp to leave the lane at level 6 and gank. The name “Offlane” refers to the play style of running the lane, in which the hero is rarely seen last hitting in lane. They are instead staying “Offlane” at the safest distance possible to gain experience.

The terms solo lane, dual lane, and trilane refer to the amount of heroes occupying a lane in the early stages of the game. Combinations of the various laning terms occur to signify a specific occupation in a certain lane. For example, solo mid refers to a single hero in the middle lane.

Solo Lane [ edit ]

A solo lane is when a lane has only a single hero running it. Heroes that are alone in a lane receive maximum experience and gold as it isn’t split among occupants. The main risk to this rewarding strategy is that being alone makes a hero more vulnerable to ganks. In common strategy, the mid lane is always run solo and the Offlane is often run solo.

Dual Lane [ edit ]

A dual lane is when two heroes team up to run a lane together. This is the most common setup for the safe lane. Usually one hero who is more farm-dependent tries to maximize their last hits, while the second hero supports the other by protecting him, harassing the opponent and getting denies.

Trilane [ edit ]

A trilane is when three heroes run a lane together. There are two types of trilane strategies.

The aggressive trilane is three heroes in the Offlane. They try to pressure the enemy team’s safe lane and disrupt the jungle. To be successful, an aggressive trilane is largely dependent on getting hero or tower kills. Aggressive trilanes

The defensive trilane is three heroes in the safe lane. Two supporting heroes make sure the third hero, their carry, gets all the farm. They push the enemy heroes back to deny them experience and gold, while simultaneously protecting their carry from the enemy. The supporting heroes can gain some experience and gold of their own by farming the jungle in the meantime.

The word trilane can sometimes also refer to the trilane setup, referring to a 1-1-3 division of heroes among the lanes. In that case, the team has two solo lanes and one trilane.

Laning [ edit ]

Laning is the act of staying in a lane. A hero that lanes gains gold and experience from the dying creeps, and is also protecting the nearest tower. Games generally start out with a laning phase where all or the majority of players start out in a lane. Later on more roles such as ganking, pushing, and roaming come into play, but often enough players go back to laning for a steady income of exp and gold.

I’m requing my second account. Accidentally went into a ranked game today (my friend made a search for ranked even though I asked for a normal). And I was TBD.

Luckily my mmr was higher than I ever had it before (I calculated since I was the top 1 player/ average mmr)

I’m so happy right now. But the thing is:

What happens when I keep playing normal and do good? Win?

Will the TBD raise or not?

On what do they calculate?

Wins?
Lvls/ game experience?

The mmr you ‘start in’ is exactly the same as everyone else (the figure is not known but it is between 1500 and 3500). When you first start playing dota you actually just do hidden ranked calibration in your first 20-30 games where it massively scales up the swing from game to game in order to place you close enough to your skill level while also not taking 150 games to do so.

Ranked mmr is indeed influenced by unranked mmr in that youre starting point when you calibrate your ranked mmr is your unranked mmr. However this makes almost no difference as to how your ranked mmr will turn out after calibration because the same forces that moved you from a starting mmr of 1500 when you first played dota to a 2200 mmr player when you first started ranked calibration are going to be acting on you again. So the difference in mmr 10 games can make is potentially in the thousands. What makes people believe that it is “influenced a lot” by unranked score is because they often refuse to believe it is an accurate representation of their mmr. One thing about your unranked games that does greatly affect your calibration process is your average performance. For each game you play your performance in terms of kill participation/rate/time, death ratio/rate/times, creep score, GPM, XPM, hero damage, building damage and so on are all recorded. What the ranked calibration process does is compare the score you had on that hero in that one game against other players that also played that hero and what the average MMR was at the performance level you exhibited, this is then checked against your historical stats on that hero (if it exists) as well as your general averages. This is why it is said (and proven by observation) that your MMR will be increased if you play only core roles from the start of an account until you finish ranked calibration. The difference this will make however has been shown to be only around 200-300 mmr and well within acceptable bounds. This doesnt mean that you should always play carry and your mmr will increase, it simply means that the kind of things that are compared during the ranked calibration are slightly skewed to roles and heroes that excel in that area. Lets say your unranked mmr was 2000 mmr when you started calibration and your played a perfect balance of all roles during your unranked games.

You decide to play enigma if your first calibration game. Your team loses this game pretty badly (down by like 40 kills and several towers as well as a huge gold/xp defecit) so it was clearly a one sided result. However despite this your average stats for this game were comparable to the average enigma player with 2400 mmr. So the calibrator says okay you are going to lose 50 mmr right now but if you play as well as you did this game (comparable to people of your current mmr) im going to give you 200 mmr if you win and only take 50 again if you lose. If you average stats are the same as a 1950 mmr player (+/- an accepted margin) then im just going to do +/-50.
MMR = 1950.

The second game you decide to play Tidehunter. This game is much longer and much closer but your team still loses (65 to 60). The calibrator looks at your stats and says well hey your stats were comparable to a 2500 mmr tidehunter player this time and decides that you are only going to lose 50 mmr again this time but if you win the next one like a 2500 player im going to give you +400 mmr, but if you only win it and you played similar to your current mmr we are going to use that +200 from before.
MMR = 1900.

Game three and you decide to play Troll Warlord. This game was pretty one sided and your team easily takes victory (50 kills to 10). The calibrator looks at your performance and says well look you won but you only played like a 2200 mmr player this time. It decides to risk it and bump you up by the full 400 it promised last round but because you are now above your performance would indicate it says well I’m going to take away half of that 400 if you lose and see how you do there and if you win im just going to give you the standard +50.
MMR = 2300.

Game four you decide to play Ogre Magi and your team wins. Another decently close game but a couple of mistakes in the late game cost them the win quite decisively (55 to 45). You played comparative to a 3k ogre magi player so the calibrator has a little think and says okay you are going to lose the 200 from before but because you played so well this game im going to give you a shot if you can win out your next one and decides that you will get between 200 and 700 mmr depending on your next win and only lose between 50 and 150 if you lose because your average performance so far has been comparable to a player of around where you are.
MMR = 2100.

Game five you decide to play Enigma again and your team wins really easily (31 to 8 and the enemy got no towers). Your performance was comparable to a 2450 mmr enigma which the calibrator knows was really close to the rating on the hero you got in your first game. So it decides to give you 350 mmr for the win and is going to reset to +/-50 in the next game and go from there.
MMR = 2450.

This goes on for the remainder of your calibration matches and leaves you within

100-300 mmr of your skill level which is easily acceptable. The ranked mmr calibration has VERY LITTLE to do with your team mates and much more to do with your individual performance which is why people who play cores during calibration get around 200 mmr more than the same person playing supports. This is not an avocation for playing carry it is simply a reflection of the process (which has been improved greatly since release as far as support calibration is concerned).

I have not proof read this post so if anyone needs elaboration feel free to ask for it

Oh I realised people might want to know how I have come to this information.

1. I have implemented an Elo-like ranking system in the past.
2. I have observed the calibration process 3 times.
3. I have read a report from a wonderful user on reddit (ill try and find the thread) where he details an experiment he did with some other redditors in order to see what effects final rating. They discovered a lot about the system when all of their MMRs were different despite only ever playing in the same games together from start to finish.
4. I have read all of valves releases on the subject and the debates that they bring.
5. I spent a lot of time modelling S2 games matchmaking rating system when it was first released (because much more of the data was exposed it was a little easier as well as it stuck more closely to the original Elo concept).

And my solo ranked MMR is 4500 and I exclusively play support (the position of that support varies heavily though).

The 5 Worst Heroes in Dota 2 7.07

5) Monkey King

The king of the monkeys was always a difficult hero to execute in pubs. It’s short history has many twists and turns, from its inception as a broken pubstomper, its transformation into a Zai/Boboka led perma-bashing 4 position roamer and then eventually settling down into the Arteezy era Battlefury 1 position. As the ease of executing a right click carry dwindled throughout its sojourn in the post 7.00 lifecycle, Monkey King’s winrate dropped.

With the advent of 7.07, Monkey King fell to a measly 44.21% average winrate.

It seems the reduced base damage, lower Jingu damage and talents that don’t compensate for the loss till very late in the game has destroyed Monkey King’s viability. It’s still a decent situational pick, but definitely a weak hero this patch.

4) Tiny

Tiny is super interesting now – everyone is picking him because, hey, free trees! The hero has been reworked around team fighting. Tossing heroes on cliffs (which may or may not be patched soon), insane tower damage with a frankly broken Tiny-Io 2.0 combo, and not having to buy Aghs to be relevant late game are some great buffs. But the mathematics of it has slinked this hero down to a 38.07% winrate.

People are still figuring out how to build this new tiny, but so far the results are underwhelming. With a very difficult laning stage and talents that don’t start making sense till level 20, Tiny is definitely in the dumpster for now.

3) Windranger

I don’t know if it’s entirely fair to say Windranger is one of the worst heroes of the patch since it’s consistently been in this list for the last few patches, but 7.07 sinked this hero down even more. Sporting a tiny 46.24% winrate, it’s fair to say Icefrog didn’t bother picking up the buff hammer this time either.

The reworked Focus Fire now synergises with Windrun instead of Shackleshot, which means Windranger’s ultimate now pairs with an early game spell instead of a late game spell. The later the game goes, the more stuns matter and the less evasion/movement speed matters. Either way, Windranger’s winrate has fallen by almost 2.5% in the new patch and needs significant buffs to be relevant again.

2) Morphling

If there’s a hero that unnecessarily received the nerfhammer after 7.06, it’s this one. The fact that his ultimate makes you play another hero is what kills you most of the time.

Morphling was already a dreadfully difficult hero to execute in pubs, being a hard carry and all. I personally love the new changes and think the new Morph ultimate is a great mechanic to introduce, but it’ll take time for players to understand how to play with it. With a 37.54% average winrate, it’s going to be really difficult to close out games with this hero in 7.07. Avoid unless you’re messing around in turbo mode.

1) Pangolier, the worst hero in 7.07

Have you watched Singsing’s stream with him playing Pangolin Boy? All I’ve ever seen Pangoliers do in my pubs is press R and roll around hitting walls for five seconds.

Everything about Pangolier is useless, really. The spells are bad, the attributes are bad and the synergy of the two is also quite bad. I mean this is a “carry” with a 33.29% winrate in the safelane. Its overall winrate is the lowest in Dota 2 right now, at 37.54%. Pangolier is currently best played in the offlane, but why would you pick it when you can pick the all new god tier 7.07 King of All Beasts Beastmaster instead?

The Worst of the Heroes in Dota 2.

Most heroes can be evil in their own ways, but this thread is about heroes whose evil deeds truly stand out from most other heroes: heroes whose actions clearly cause chaos, and may or may not have influenced the war. You can make your own list or add to this one.

Let’s explore my list, shall we?

1. Chaos Knight: he basically is sent to hunt down and kill Ezalor (Keeper of the Light). Apparently, I didn’t know it was completely reasonable to slay millions of innocent people just to slay a demigod.

2. Ezalor, the Keeper of the Light: so he escapes the fundamental plane and causes chaos throughout the world, and now all he does is to creep on girls. He’s Creeper of the Light, and he’s a huge dick for abandoning his duties and causing Chaos Knight to slay millions of innocents while Ezalor pervs on girls – even Spectre. By the way, when he made the sun, he is mostly responsible for the mass-genocide of Balanar’s (Night Stalker’s) people.

3. Kaldr, the Ancient Apparition: he is pretty much the Albert Wesker of Dota 2. You don’t see him often, and most heroes don’t think he’s a big deal, but he has an ego 10 times the size of Pudge and his reason of fighting is to create a new world order where he is the almighty god. Don’t believe me? Read his responses.

4. Jah’rakal, the Troll Warlord: he is an IRL version of an internet troll. Gets butthurt that his peers abused him and he decided to go on a complete rampage, and now he fucks people up just because. “I kill my enemies first, my allies next.”

5. Pugna, the Oblivion: apparently he acts like a huge bitch during his childhood because he doesn’t get to be spoiled like the typical rich white girl in a high school, so he goes to spree kill his entire town, and now he bans. er, banishes people whenever he wants.

6. Chen, the Holy Knight: he is a homage to extremists of any religion. Anyone who does not follow Chen’s religion, Chen will smite them. Painfully.

7. Aiushtha, the Enchantress: similar to Chen, she is an extreme hippie. Anyone who does not follow Aiushtha’s way, she will enchant them to death.

8. Ostarion, the Skeleton King: similar to a controlling emperor, Ostarion the Skeleton King wishes to conquer the land to build up his empire. Dissimilar to a controlling emperor, Ostarion converts those he kills into slaves. Yeah. Kills people, then makes them his slaves.

9. Rotund’jere, the Necrolyte: there isn’t much to say about him, he basically starts as a corrupt priest who wants noble’s assets, then after catching the pox, he travels the world to infect the global population.

10. Shadow Demon: he pretty much puts the “tan” in Satan. Starts as an evil genie who grants wishes to people, Shadow Demon maipulates and corrupts them into creating an evil satanic cult to try to convert the entire world to worship the Satan. Luckily he gets bitch-slapped by Lucifer (Doom) and Nevermore (Shadow Fiend), but he will keep making the cult to try to take over the world. over and over and over again.

  • For strength heroes, it grants 40 health, 0.2 health regen, 0.16% magic resistance, 2.32 armor, 2 attack speed, 0.1% movement speed, 24 mana, 1.6 mana regen, 0.14% spell damage and 2 attack damage.
  • For agility heroes, it grants 40 health, 0.2 health regen, 0.16% magic resistance, 2.32 armor, 2 attack speed, 0.1% movement speed, 24 mana, 1.6 mana regen, 0.14% spell damage and 2 attack damage.
  • For intelligence heroes, it grants 40 health, 0.2 health regen, 0.16% magic resistance, 2.32 armor, 2 attack speed, 0.1% movement speed, 24 mana, 1.6 mana regen, 0.14% spell damage and 2 attack damage.
  • Unlike other combined items, Urn of Shadows cannot be disassembled within 10 seconds after assembling it.

Ability [ edit ]

Provides 30 health regeneration when cast on allies, and deals 25 damage per second when cast on enemies.

Lasts 8 seconds.

Gains charges every time an enemy hero dies within 1400 units. Only the closest Urn to the dying hero will gain a charge.

  • Double clicking the item uses it on self.
  • Successive casts on the same target do not stack, but refresh the duration instead.
    • The buff and debuff are independent and stack with each other, although the heal gets canceled as soon as the damage ticks.
    • Urn of Shadow’s heal does not stack with that of Spirit Vessel. Neither do their damage debuffs stack.
    • Spirit Vessel overr >0 from any player (including allies, excluding self) or Roshan dispels the effect.
      • Does not get dispelled by damage flagged as HP Removal.
    • Can only be cast on heroes (including illusions and clones) and creep-heroes.
    • Urn charges cannot be gathered by clones, illusions and creep-heroes.
    • Shares cooldown with Spirit Vessel .
    • When having multiple Urns of Shadows, the one in the higher inventory slot gains charges.
      • Slot priority order: Top left, top middle, top right, bottom left, bottom middle, bottom right.
      • Cannot gain charges while inside the backpack. The item must be in one of the 6 slots to gain charges.
      • When having no charges left, the urn gains 2 charges from the next enemy hero’s death, instead of 1.
      • When there are multiple Urns of Shadows in the team, the hero who is closest to the dying enemy gets charges.
      • Urn of Shadows and Spirit Vessels are treated equally. When having both, the one in the higher inventory slot gets charges.
    • Upon upgrading an Urn of Shadows into a Spirit Vessel, all its current charges are carried over.
