In the middle of a game, my screen frequently freezes, but I still have control of my hero and the sound is still going. My laptop exceeds all of the minimum requirements for Dota 2 to run, and this seems to be the only game this is happening in. I’ve been able to communicate with other players while the screen is frozen as well, so it is not a connection problem

Hey we have the same laptop almost, except for the ram.
I had the freezing problems, and I got it to work, except for today’s update, which broke the map, but a lot of people have this.

I have a AMD Quad-Core A6-5200 Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon™
HD 8400 Graphics, with 2.0 GHz.
4 GB Ram, and I also run 64bit Windows 8.1

How I got Dota to stop freezing, crashing to desktop with just the game mouse, or just freezing with sound was one or not all of these many things.

1. I use the beta graphic drivers, which I believe are 14.2.
2. I made sure Windows 8.1 was updated completely, as well as anything for Toshiba. Amd a4 6300 dota 2

I am having problems with the visuals freezing, yet the sound and clearly the game itself continuing. I have looked around the forums and the common denominator with the problem is the AMD Radeon graphics card. I would like to play DOTA 2 because it’s a quality game, but to change graphics card would be excessive.
Now AMD Radeon graphics cards are pretty common, so a solution would help many of us to enjoy DOTA 2 as it should be enjoyed.

How many people here having issues are using Windows 8 ?

it has noting to do with win8 i hate amd/ati for serval reasons of there company history but,
i made some reasearch and assampled both system quickly,

found solution -> driver problem . dota2 changed ome sort of graphic code and to old drivers get problems now (maybe dota2 will soon dx11??) from amd/ati

update ur drivers, i tested all tower and mobile cards wich got released in past year, its a driver problem . on some systems i had to run the beta drivers to get it working.

to clear thinks why this happen: from the technical stade of the driver, there almost 3 months behind the current nvidia . the codes used in dota2 are allready included in nvidia driver sind 2 months and a few days. but it seems beta drivers could fix the problem.

other solution would be that its simply overheating .. let some record program running backwards wich logs ur heat like everest (new name: aida64) log ur hardware backround and chek if u see some heat problems . if yes, clean fans or make sure it gets enough fresh air to it .. if u cant clean them self or maybe too afraid of it, let some ppl do, it costs arround 5-10 euro . deepens how dirty it is 😀

3rd and smalles chance to happen, it seriously is a windows problem (1 system got this problem) u need to update everything thats windows related (didnt made a diagnostic wich causes the problem just updated everything)

You can play Dota 2 with these specs, but at low settings because it will have lag. Also, you may have little lag while moving the camera, but that’s not a big thing, you can probably get used to it.

But your processor is really bad, to be honest.

PS: 4 GB RAM is really enough if you play Dota 2 without additional programs opened. The game is not that memory intensive on low graphics, the processor is the only thing you need to have in mind.

Unfortunately, can’t upgrade the processor hehehe 😛

The void is both sword and shield for Void Spirit, whether he takes a quick repose in the aether to teleport to an area of his choice with explosive force, or shields himself in volatile energy that slays the weak and nullifies the attacks of the mighty. Not even the other spirits claim to understand the mind and machinations of the eldest amongst them, Inai the Void Spirit. Privy to secrets that would shatter a mortal mind, the Void Spirit observes the workings of the universe from an unknowable vantage, choosing to let carefully groomed servants do his bidding — only emerging from his Hidden Temple into the material plane when he deems that he alone can steer the course of reality along its proper path.

With an expansive perspective on existence, Inai is focused intently on a point in time beyond which he cannot see, when the fabrics of multiple realities are fated to collide. Now he steps from the aether to personally resolve the battle of the Ancients and prepare his allies for what he views as a greater conflict to come.

Abilities [ edit ]

• Pull lasts 0.1 second on creeps.
• Aether Remnant first applies the damage, then the pull effect.
• Hypnotizes the target, forcing it to move towards the Remnant, and preventing it from acting.
• Grants the target unobstructed pathing, so it can move through cliffs, trees, and other units.
• The remnant move speed is 900. Watch distance is 450 and radius 130 while vision radius 200.

• Void Spirit is hidden, silenced, and muted during Dissimilate.
• Dissimilate creates seven portals with a radius of 275 each. One portal is centered on Void Spirit’s location on cast. The other portals are arranged in an equilateral hexagon around the center portal, with one portal in the direction Void Spirit was facing on cast.
  • Portals are centered 550 range away from each adjacent portal.
• Issuing a move command while Dissimilate is active will designate the portal centered nearest to the target location for Void Spirit to emerge from. If no move command is given, he will emerge from the center portal.
  • Can reselect the exit portal any number of times per cast.
  • The designated exit portal will be highlighted with a distinct visual effect that is not visible to the enemy team.

• Resonant Pulse expands at a speed of 1200, taking 0.4167 seconds to fully expand. The expanding ring is centered on Void Spirit and follows his movements.
• Any enemy hero hit by the pulse causes a projectile to return to Void Spirit that bestows the bonus damage absorption upon reaching him.
  • The projectile travels at a speed of 900.
  • Bonus absorption is given even if the base shield is lost.
  • Possibly due to a bug, disjointing the projectiles (e. g. by Blinking) will negate the bonus absorption.
• The shield absorbs damage after it is reduced by armor.

• Causes Void Spirit to perform an instant attack on all hit enemies.
  • These attacks have True Strike, and can therefore never miss. They also ignore disarms.
  • Can proc any attack modifier on all of the hit targets normally, except cleave.
  • The level 25 talent adds an ensured critical strike to Astral Step; crits with a lower value have no effect if they proc (higher crit value takes priority).
• All enemies hit by Astral Step’s instant attacks receive the Astral Step debuff, which deals the void mark damage when lost through any means.

• Shiva’s Guard is a good item for you and your team. The armor synergises with Resonant Pulse (armor is calculated before the shield HP). It also gives great stats and you can spread the slow to everyone on the enemy team with your high mobility.
• Abyssal Blade is a good item as you not only gain a damage block, but a guaranteed stun which could be followed up with a Dissimilate for escape or damage. Your Astral Step further works with this item by potentially proccing the passive bash.

• Radiance continues to do damage while Vo >Octarine Core raises health and mana for sustainability. The Cooldown Reduction and Spell Lifesteal allows Vo >Scythe of Vyse grants attributes, intelligence, and mana regeneration to let Vo >Desolator improves the damage of Astral Step, which can also spread the armor debuff to multiple enemies.
• Eul’s Scepter of Divinity is a good choice against mobile targets or heroes with silences that can shut you down. Not only does it prov >Aether Remnant .

Each player on the team has a specific purpose to fulfill.

Dota 2 takes pride in its freeform gameplay, where players are given the freedom to experiment and take certain heroes in directions they weren’t really designed for. Unlike competing titles such as League of Legends, Dota 2 doesn’t hard-lock players into roles like mid, AD carry, or jungle. While heroes in Dota 2 are still given role classifications, these tags more or less serve as guidelines rather than hard and fast rules.

That said, Dota 2 still has roles just like any other MOBA—and knowing which heroes fit best into which positions on your five-man team, and even the opponent’s team, is essential knowledge. After all, having a well-balanced hero composition is crucial to victory. And placing the right picks in their respective roles can make a huge difference in-game.

If you’re thinking of stepping up your game in a certain role, or just learn about what each position entails, here’s a guide to the main roles in the game.

Before that, a disclaimer: roles in Dota 2 are not actually dictated by which lane the hero goes to, contrary to popular belief. Instead, positions fall in line with farm priority—the first position will typically be given more space to farm creeps than the fourth or fifth position. Thus, the names for each role in this guide correspond to their individual purposes and gameplans.

The hard carry

As the name implies, the hard carry is responsible for eventually carrying the team to victory, usually by dealing a large amount of physical DPS in the late game. Heroes in this role typically have agility as a primary attribute, though some strength and intelligence heroes are also capable of being hard carries.

The hard carry is typically weak and very fragile in the early game, making them prime targets for rotating supports and/or ganking midlaners. Because their kits are generally not useful until later in the game, their sole directive in the early game is to focus on scoring creep kills and building up their core items.

When they finish farming, however, hard carries become wrecking balls that are very difficult to stop. Between their high damage output and ability to take on multiple heroes at once, they can take over games on their own from the 40 minute mark onwards.

Solo mid

Everyone’s favorite role, solo mid has always been associated with players that have a high level of game sense and mechanical skill. As the second position from the top, solo mid enjoys high farm priority. Heroes designed to be good alone in the mid lane typically don’t require extreme amounts of gold unlike hard carries.

Historically, the solo mid role has had the responsibility of ganking the sidelanes upon reaching level six. Heroes like Queen of Pain, Puck, and Storm Spirit fall into this group of midlaners, thanks to their burst damage and mobility skills. These heroes leverage the high experience gain in the mid lane in order to set the pace of the game and to keep the other team from getting farmed.

Over the last few years, however, the farming mid has risen in popularity. More late game-focused cores like Shadow Fiend and Naga Siren have taken up the hard carry role albeit in the mid lane.

Both avenues are perfectly viable, though, and the choice mostly boils down to your team’s overall strategy and the heroes you already have in your draft. Keep in mind, however, that choosing the farming mid usually means that your team will have less freedom to roam the map picking fights in the side lanes.

Offlaner

In Dota 2, the offlane refers to the top lane for the Radiant, and bottom for the Dire. This is because the creep waves in those lanes meet closer to the opponent’s tower rather than your own, hence the term “safe lane” for the opposite side.

Offlaners make these lanes their homes, and try to make the most out of what little they’re given out there. Because it is much more risky to go for creep kills in the offlane, the most important thing to do as an offlaner in the laning phase is to simply not die while staying close enough to the creep wave in order to gain levels. Heroes with cheap escape mechanisms (Faceless Void, Weaver) or those with serious staying power (Beastmaster, Tidehunter) are suited for this role.

Later on in the game, the offlaner either becomes the primary initiator, or the tertiary carry for the team. The former typically involves purchasing mobility items like Blink Dagger or Force Staff, which allow such heroes to get the jump on the enemy team and the rest of the squad to follow up with damage. The latter provides a safety net for late game-focused drafts, since they can contribute more DPS for deep late game engagements.

The utility support

The first of two support roles, the utility support is the richer of the two. Heroes that fall under this role typically scale well with items despite being on the lower end of the farm priority spectrum, thanks to abilities that are greatly enhanced by items. Such heroes include Sand King, Clockwerk, Earth Spirit, and Tusk.

Utility supports usually don’t take up the duty of buying wards for their team, at least in the early goings. Instead, they focus on scoring assist gold through rotations and ganks, or by helping their carries secure early kills in the lane. Once they are able to purchase their core items, though, utility supports should help out in the warding department so that the hard support can get their items as well.

The hard support

And finally, we come to the hard support—the position with the least farm priority of all. Hard support heroes like Lion, Crystal Maiden, Vengeful Spirit, and Witch Doctor are all designed to be able to contribute to their teams without much in the way of equipment. That’s due to their damage output and utility being baked into their abilities first and foremost.

They are tasked with making sure that their cores are able to farm comfortably, by boxing out opposing heroes through harassment and occasional use of their abilities in lane. With good positioning and cooperation with the utility support, in the case of rotations or trilane setups, they can even help secure early kills.

These heroes are very, very fragile, however. Sometimes even more so than your typical agility carry. It is common to see hard supports holding nothing but Boots of Speed and a few stat-boosting items like Magic Wand or Bracer. If you don’t like dying, you probably shouldn’t be playing this role—but it is the concept of selflessness and sacrifice within the hard support position that allows the rest of the team to excel.

Hard support players, therefore, are the martyrs of Dota 2.

Whatever role you choose to take up, always remember that each one has its own set of directives and an overarching purpose in mind. Formulate your strategy around these roles, and you might find that there is more cohesion in your drafts and gameplay.

Other modern games do you think this game is up to par in being suitable enough for the coming years?

How would you rate the graphics compared to Star Craft 2 and Dawn of War 2 etc?

Neither of those games are really graphically impressive.

Besides that I don’t feel that graphics quality in terms of realism has ever been very important. What’s important is that the game makes and keeps its own style, that defines the game and makes it much more memorable than just trying to be realistic. Because that’s the flaw of realistic looking games, they just try. They cannot succeed, it’s impossible until we get quantum computers or some similar wizardry.

Out of the two you listed, LoL, and HoN, I’d say Dota 2 wins in both graphics and design.

I think it’s wonderful that Valve is smart with their game’s ‘graphics’, I love how Dota is actually a little stylized. Take a look at Team Fortress 2 for example, how old is that game? 5 years old and it still looks really good. Same with Dota 2, it might not complete with the graphics in the year 2016 or so but because it’s not realistic but stylized then it would be able to hold it’s own.

Starcraft 2 is also stylized from what I remember though at a much smaller scale and they actually pull it off pretty good. I would say that Dota 2 is comparable to SC2 technically but aesthetically it’s up to the have their own opinion, to me I like them both equally. Can’t say that much for DoW2 since I haven’t seen very much of that game.

Yeah while DOTA 2 isn’t on crysis level. I would say its incredibly beautiful looking. And look at team fortress 2, somehow its the most pleasing to look at, its artwork is simply amazing.

What I always hated about LoL was its kiddy graphics. Its far far far to childish and boring. DOTA 2 I think looks really detailed and nice. I also like the look of Star Craft 2 it looks far better than SC1 and Warcraft 3

I like Dota 2 graphics and design very much, looks neat and clean but still rich. Also good feel for (natural) colors.

well i guess is better to me more specific because it does not need new people who ask the same question again and again.

anwya itrade no problem at all., nice to use, can use on firefox, explorer. i had been using about a year. but the bad part is minimum brokrage is RM28.

but one thing i like is that they are able to let you trade above the amount you have. for example if you place in 1k and they let u trade up to 3k.
then they is a so call time factor which they help you to place order from the date you choose till the date. is for selling and buying. more life so much easy.

I am going to transfer bank into my investment account. But when i use my atm machine, i input the given account number, the name show up as “CIMB INVESTMENT”. Is it safe for me to transfer the money into the account? Is it my account or a general account? And in case i wish to take out my money from the investment account? how to do it? go to cimb?

yes is fine to place in the money. actually cimb does not have invesment bank. but they take over some other bank that they have it now.
well u actually no need to hassle to go to ATM machine. do you have CIMB account or maybank. what u need to do is just trasfer online. got to settle then eDeposit. something like that then u can start to enter how much you want to enter provided you have money in your bank account. by the way they will lead you to your normal internet banking and log in for trasfer. after 2-3 working days there it goes the money in your trust account.

by the way your trust account everday will give you small interest rougly 0.04%. if you have huge amount of course you get bigger share.

Actually the minimum brokerage is RM12 not RM28. Bettter give a call to your remisier.

This is because your itrade account is actually securitised account which the limit be based on your collataral of shares and trust. Trust multiplier will be 3 times. That’s why you got 3k when you place 1K.

If your using direct account (which is actually against remisier limit) you don’t have to put in any collateral

-Securitised Trading Account (you will have Noms CDS account, so cannot apply IPO)

Remember if you have direct account, your limit will be against Remisier Limit. so it will depends on how much remisier deposit he got and how much losses his client inccur.

Securitised account, your limit will be base on the collateral you have. ie. shares and trust.

Well, it is safe, after you bank in better let your remisier know and remember to fact in your bank in slip or email to them. so they will punch it the trust into your trading account for you straight away. or else you will need 2-3 days only you can see your trust. yes a general account.

Beatrix Snapfire and her dragon toad Mortimer are a welcome sight to the ragged folk who scratch out lives along the desert routes and oases scattered throughout Nanarak, the rain-forsaken gateway to the Outlands.

As well known for her unrivaled skills as a weaponsmith as for dispensing wisdom, mirth, and the meanest firesnap cookies the world has ever seen, Beadie’s survived to a ripe old age in a young keen’s trade by being quick with her wits and even quicker with her guns.

Indeed, the Outlands are littered with the bones of bandits and ne’er-do-wells who thought to take advantage of her small stature and propensity for kindness.

Abilities [ edit ]

• An additional visual effect is played on enemies hit at point-blank range.
• Damage dealt at point blank range is 120/225/330/435 ( 210/315/420/525).

• The cookie travels at 700 speed and cannot be disjointed.
• Destroys trees upon landing.
• Can not be cast on rooted targets.

• Sets Snapfire’s base attack time to 1.0, increases her attack speed by 300, and sets her attack damage to 45 / 60 / 75 / 90 for the duration.
• Each affected attack places an additional instance on the target and refreshes the duration of the whole stack.
• Can reduce up to 120/150/180/210 attack speed if all attacks are aimed at one target.
• Attack speed slow also affects towers, even through Glyph of Fortification.
• Deals a total of 270/360/450/540 damage.

• Shoots globs over a period of 6 seconds, meaning that one glob is shot every 0.857 ( 0.4) seconds. Skilling the +8 globs talent doubles the firing speed and maintains the 6 second period.
• Issuing a move command causes Snapfire to turn in the direction of the targeted point and re-targets subsequent globs at that point.
  • If the command is targeted outside the maximum range or inside the minimum range, the glob will be launched the maximum/minimum distance respectively in the direction of the move command.
• Enemies making contact with firespit pools receive a debuff that slows movement speed by 25% ( 50%) and deals 25/37.5/50 damage every 0.5 seconds. The debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds.
  • The debuff does not stack. Touching any pool will refresh the debuff’s duration.
