Huskar, the Sacred Warrior – Emerging from the throes of the sacred Nothl Realm, Huskar opened his eyes to see the prodigal shadow priest Dazzle working a deep incantation over him. Against the ancient rites of the Dezun Order, Huskar’s spirit had been saved from eternity, but like all who encounter the Nothl he found himself irrevocably changed. No longer at the mercy of a mortal body, his very lifeblood became a source of incredible power; every drop spilled was returned tenfold with a fierce, burning energy. However this newfound gift infuriated Huskar, for in his rescue from the Nothl, Dazzle had denied him a place among the gods. He had been denied his own holy sacrifice. In time the elders of the order sought to expand their influence and Huskar, they agreed, would be a formidable tool in their campaign. Yet becoming a mere weapon for the order that denied him his birthright only upset him further. As the first embers of war appeared on the horizon, he fled his ancestral home to find new allies, all the while seeking a cause worthy of unleashing the power his total sacrifice could bring.

Jah’rakal, the Troll Warlord – It’s an easy thing to offend a troll. A prickly and contentious race, trolls thrive on argument and strife, missing no excuse to raise their voices in dispute. Males grow to maturity in subterranean chambers beneath their matriarch’s domicile, feeding and amusing themselves while contributing nothing. Often they stay for years beyond the age of maturity, while the matriarch provides them with sustenance. When young trolls are finally pushed from their sub-chamber, they gather with others of their kind, forming roving gangs of malcontents who complain loudly about all manner of vexation.
As much as trolls love to argue, imagine how rare it is for a troll to be driven from his own kind for being too difficult to get along with. Such was Jah’rakal’s fate, a monger troll from deep in the Hoven. So deluded was he, so bitter and abrasive, that even other trolls found his company intolerable. After one particularly vitriolic outburst in which he claimed the lion’s share of loot from their latest raid, his cohorts finally snapped. They turned on him, beat him with clubs, and drove him from the encampment. Enraged at his banishment, he returned the next day, armed with steel, and slew them all, one by one. He then swore a blood oath: he would ever after be a fighting force unto himself. Now he roams the world as the Troll Warlord, bitter and angry, the Imperial high commander of an army of one.

  • Fully stacks with other sources of accuracy and attack speed.
  • As a neutral unit:
    • The thunderh >Doom (acquired through Devour ).
    • Has a cast backswing of 1.07 when cast by Rubick (acquired through casting Spell Steal on Doom).

In-game Guides [ edit ]

Guides (sometimes also called Hero Builds) are guides created by players, that can suggest items and highlight abilities to level. They can be created and shared by players either in-game or through the Hero Builds Editor.

“Hero Builds Editor” has been out of order, probably since 2014.

Changes [ edit ]

• Detailed talents now show up on the Guide panel – In the Loadout / Strategy and the In-Game viewer.

• Hero Guide Viewer now has sorting options for Your Guides and All Guides.
• Author Name and Last Updated Time has been added to the Guide Viewer.
• Hero Guide Viewer now also displays visual entries for Abilities and Talents.
• Tooltip has been added to the favorite star on the Guide Viewer.

• Fixed a couple of UI issues on the Guide Builder tool.

The top 10 most expensive Dota 2 items available on the Steam market. I explored the market to find out the skins sold fairly at a high price during September 2018.

In the market there are thousands of items sold at an inaccurate cost, often in an attempt to scam the buyers. To give credibility to this list, I included only the items that have been already traded in the past and the recent average price range.

Unusual Golden Baby Roshan

Item currently not available. From the April 2018 list.

Average price: $1,800

Last sold on January 31 for $1,800

An immortal courier awarded to players that made it in the Sugar Rush Hall of Fame during Diretide 2012.

It utilizes the same model of the standard Baby Roshan courier – listed for $2-3 – but has golden textures and effects.

In the game, there are Baby Roshans available with different effects, and they are all very expensive: Platinum, Ice, Lava, Dark Moon, Desert Sand, and Jade.

Legacy Enduring War Dog

Average price: around $1,000 – very variable cost depending on the effect

A Mythical courier, originally released on May 31, 2012. Legacy couriers are old but expensive couriers which were given an unique random color and a Prismatic: Legacy gem.

Platinum Baby Roshan

Last sold on September 10 for $1,725

An immortal courier awarded to players that made it in the Sugar Rush Hall of Fame during Diretide 2013.

It utilizes the same model of the standard Baby Roshan courier – listed for $2-3 – but has platinum textures and effects.

The color of the textures isn’t the only distinction among the various Baby Roshans, but also the gems are different.

For example, the Golden Roshan has Ethereal: Touch of Midas and Prismatic: Midas Gold, the Platinum one has Ethereal: Ionic Vapor and Prismatic: Pristine Platinum. They create custom effects and change the color of the particles.

Genuine Axe of Phractos

Average price: $1,500

Last sold on August 10 for $1,380

A mythical weapon for Axe obtained in genuine quality by buying the Axe figurine from the WETA workshop. It is no longer available.

Later on, Valve included this item in the Trust of the Benefactor 2016 treasure as an ultra rare drop. Three copies of the treasure were given to all players with The International 2017 Battle Pass. Only 25 copies of this item could be unboxed worldwide.

Genuine Monarch Bow

Average price: $1,500-1700

Last sold on September 14 for $1,574

A mythical weapon for Drow Ranger acquired in genuine quality by purchasing the Butterfly Sword from the WETA workshop. It is no longer available.

Also the Monarch Bow was included in the Trust of the Benefactor 2016 as an ultra rare drop.

A legendary item gained as an ultra rare drop from Trust of the Benefactor 2017, which is an immortal chest obtained via leveling The International 2017 Battle Pass.

Rarities of the Benefactor contained precious skins, and only a determinate amount of each one could be unboxed worldwide:

The original mount was a tiger, but before the release Valve transformed it in a moon rabbit. Later on, they introduced also the tiger as a second style following the community feedback.

The courier was removed from the Store on June 7, 2013 and its rarity was changed to immortal. Legacy couriers are old but expensive couriers which were given an unique random color and a Prismatic: Legacy gem.

Dragonclaw Hook

Average price: $800-850

Last sold on September 18 for $826

An immortal weapon for Pudge, formerly of mythical rarity. It is one of the oldest rare items, and was released in the Sithil’s Summer Stash on July 12, 2012. Valve accidentally re-added it to the drop list in February 2013, but removed it soon after.

Also this item was added to the Trust of the Benefactor 2016 as a rare drop. Only 200 copies were available worldwide.

Its price increased recently, perhaps due to the announcement of the upcoming Pudge’s Arcana. Dota 2 couriers steam market

I haven’t played much OD, but I hate playing against Necro because he puts a timer on you.

I haven’t played much OD, but I hate playing against Necro because he puts a timer on you.

Only problem is most of the ones I see go for an early bottle, and necro isn’t going to have much luck contesting runes before 6 with OD’s W. That and unless you use it on him the entire match OD counters ult attempts on a teamate with his W. It doesn’t seem like a good matchup to me atleast, but if it works for you go for it.

I’ve actually had alot of success with windranger personally. She can contest runes with her shackle, and thanks to ODs smaller healthpool early points on powershot do wonders. She can also dodge his orb thanks to windrun. I honestly don’t have enough experience with OD to really tell what reks him mid yet, but hopefully this will help.

Pugna. Od mid dota 2 Throw down the ward. If he tries to go on it just decrep him and hit him with a nuke for his trouble. The only thing to be wary of is if he tries to prism you and then take out the ward, but good positioning can deal with this.

Lina is good as well. Her range is much longer than his attack and his prism. If he tries to harass you just hit him back or throw a dragonslave as he walks in.

Clinkz, longer range and a better orb walk mean you will be able to harass him out of lane instead.

    Biography [ edit ]

    Hao, nicknamed General Hao by the Chinese community, is known to be one of the most aggressive players in the scene. Having joined teams such as Nirvana. Dota 2 wca new bee definition cn, TyLoo, Pandarea, TongFu, Invictus Gaming, Newbee, and Vici Gaming, Hao is no stranger to LAN competitions and is also known to be extremely fervent during matches. As a carry player, he has the urge to kill which can be seen in games where he dives countless times for kills. His risky plays defines his character, and the polarizing rewards or setbacks from the outcome of his aggression can make or break the team that he plays in.

    Hao has played in every International, in 2011 with TyLoo (Placed 9-12th), in 2012 (Placed 7-8th) and 2013 with TongFu (Placed 4th), in 2014 with Newbee (Placed 1st), in 2015 with Vici Gaming (Placed 4th), and in 2016 with Newbee.

    Dota 2 [ edit ]

    Hao was among the first players to make the jump to Dota 2 from Warcraft 3 Dota, remaining with Tyloo in the very first International. Despite the high hopes for the team and a strong group stage performance, they finished at bottom half, and the roster parted ways with the organization shortly after.

    Moving to Tongfu along with long-time partner Mu, the pair quickly distinguished themselves as aggressive carries that held little regard for safety, much like the style introduced by the Russians as opposed to the more stable Chinese approach. The team was able to qualify for the International 2, but only finished at 7th – 8th and the team held improving results in the lead up to the International 3. At the event, Tongfu managed to finish at the upper half of their groups, only to be sent to the lower bracket by Natus Vincere in a controversial game 3, where Na’Vi was able to utilize multiple fountain hooks to come back and take the game. While the team would eliminate defending champions, Invictus Gaming, Tongfu would soon be eliminated by Orange Esports, finishing 4th. After which, Hao left Tongfu to play for IG, and the team held many top 3 placings such as those at G-League and Red Bull ECL 2013.

    Finishing his brief stint with IG, Hao reunited with many of his former teammates from Tongfu’s TI3 squad, and the group would go on to form Newbee, a superstar team holding veterans of the Chinese scene. The team had a strong start with their victory at MDL 2014, which later led to the team’s massive victory at The International 2014, taking the tournament after barely managing to escape elimination before the main event. Newbee’s performance remained strong for the remainder of the year with another first place finish at WCA 2014. Soon, the team hit its first brick wall in the form of the Dota Asian Championships 2015, where the TI4 champions finished last. After this finish, Hao left the team to join Vici Gaming.

    The change did not affect his results, and Hao continued to place highly in The Summit 3 and i-League, which led to the team’s invitation to The International 5. Finishing at 4th, Hao rejoined Newbee, and joined the team in its slump, where the team consistently failed to qualify for premier tournaments, and also suffered last place defeats at the Frankfurt Major and WCA 2015. After the Shanghai Major, the team held another roster swap which brought Kaka and Kpii to the team, and Newbee was able to finally break its slump, with an overwhelming performance at EPICENTER, where the team held a record 29-0 win streak, which gave them the invitation to the Manila Major, which they finished 3rd. The team then defeating Wings Gaming at the Nanyang Championships to earn their invite for the International 2016. Despite strong performance in the past, the team was only barely able to make it to the upper bracket, where they were quickly sent down by Evil Geniuses before being eliminated immediately by Team Liquid.

    After the disappointing performance, Hao publicly announced his temporary leave from active competition, stating that he will be gone from the scene for at least half a year.

    In May 2017, Hao’s return was announced by Vici Gaming.

The method outlined in this guide is no longer possible due to changes with – override_vpk. If you wish to use mods, you must now use – enable_addons, which doesn’t allow for loading screens currently. I will edit this guide when that method will become available, but unfortunately, it is currently impossible without using shady methods that may or may not result in a VAC ban.

In my previous two guides on how to mod Dota 2, I explained how to edit the in-game text and sounds. Now, in the first of this 2-part episode, I’ll explain how to edit the drab Dota 2 logo on a red background that shows up when the game is loading to something more interesting to look at, as well as test out any background you’re hoping to add to the Steam Workshop to make sure that it looks good before you start.

Dota 2 is free to play. This means that the only way Valve can make money from it is if you support them by buying items, including loading screens. Doing this will give money directly to the people who make the content you enjoy, and will pay the artists, programmers, and engineers who created them. Please consider how much you enjoy this game, and set a budget accordingly. How much is the game “worth” to you?

Please do not use this guide to pirate loading screens that are already in the game. Although, at the time of this guide’s creation, the loading screens that you can purchase are few and far between, pirating any loading screens that are already in the game will cut down on the sales of that item, and discourage any other talented artists from putting their own loading screens on the Workshop.

I repeat: Only use this guide to create original content and/or content unavailable in the game.

Recommended Tools
In this gu >[www. gimp. org] if you are on a budget and not an artist. Please note that if you are using Windows, the default Paint program loaded will likely not be sufficient for our purposes.
A useful tool for viewing images and not necessarily editing them is IrfanView [www. irfanview. com] . This program can be set to load many, many different filetypes, including Valve’s proprietary texture filetype.
Dota’s loading screens are. VTF files, standing for Valve Texture Format. If you wish to edit or create these specific types of files, you will need the appropriate plugin for your photo editing program, which can be found on Valve’s developer wiki. We will also use VTFEdit in this guide. Another note: the VTF plugin for Photoshop does not work with the 64-bit version of Photoshop. You will have to have the 32-bit version installed to edit it directly, but it is unlikely that you will need to do that.
If you would like to dig through Dota’s file structures to see what you can edit on your own time, I recommend using GCFScape [nemesis. thewavelength. net]

As always, run an unfamiliar file that you’ve downloaded from the internet through a virus scanner before opening it.

VPK Override
We’ll be replacing files in Dota’s file structure, so first we’ll need to go into Dota 2’s launch options and enter – override_vpk so the game knows where to look.

First things first, find or create your own image. In this example, I will be using the Dire wallpaper created by Perfect World when they announced that they would be publishing Dota 2 in China, available here [imgur. com] . Any image will work, but I recommend that the picture’s resolution is at least what you plan on running Dota 2 at. I run my game at 1600×900 resolution, so using this picture will not produce any unwanted stretching or pixelation.

First things first, open the image up in your choice of image editor. Then, make any edits of your choosing.

Then, save it as a. Dota 2 loading screen 1920×1080 monitor TGA file somewhere where you’ll be sure to find it later.

If it asks you what resolution you’d like to save it at, just choose the default or 24 bits/pixel with no compression.

After you’ve saved it, open up VTFEdit, and under File, choose Import. You can also press Ctrl+I (as in Imogen) to bring up the same menu. There, choose the. TGA file you just created.

Then, you may be faced with a daunting window asking you for things you don’t understand. If you don’t know what any of it means, just copy the settings I used:

The Source engine knows what it means, don’t worry.

VTFEdit will then load in the picture as a. Dota 2 loading screen 1920×1080 monitor VTF file. No editing will need to be done here, all you need to do is to go to File and then choose Save As. and save the. VTF file somewhere you’ll be able to find it.

Now, we’ll need to find where the file we’re going to replace is. As of the time of the last edit to this guide, Dota 2 keeps its default loading screen at \Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\materials\console (If it’s not already there, create one). If they ever decide to move it, simply use GCFScape to open up Dota 2’s pak01_dir. vpk file, and search for it there.

Here, you’ll see the. VTF and. VMT script files for all of the loading screens currently in-game. You can safely ignore the. VMT files, the defaults will do their jobs.

You may notice that there are many different loading screens here, and none of them are explicitly labeled as being the default. As different events roll by, Valve will change the file names without actually changing what the loading screen looks like, so there will unfortunately be some guess-work involved in where to save it and name it. As of the last edit of this guide the current loading screen name is dashboard_loading_embers. vtf . Rename your. vtf file to that, and place it in the \Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\materials\console folder. Note that if you have you file browser set to not show what file type it is, it will just be “dashboard_loading_embers”. If it’s not showing up, this is the most likely culprit.

(Note: Valve sometimes changes the file name during special events. Most of the time, it’s embers, but if you are currently viewing this during an event, load up GCFScape to find out what the current loading screen is called.)

Through the year, there’s been several other names used for it during special events like Frostivus.

And finally, as always, load up your copy of Dota 2 as a test to see if your edits have worked.

As most of you know, custom maps have been confirmed to be arriving in dota 2.
Which would mean stuff like pudge wars, tower defences, rpg’s etc.

Coming from that community as a long time mapmaker from warcraft and starcraft, I would urge you to listen to the following suggestions for the implementation.

Enable databanks for customs maps. Which would mean stuff like internal scorescreens, gold and items acquired, achievements. Something that warcraft lacked, but starcraft had. Although it was easy to cheat in sc2, it wouldn’t be in steam.

And most importantly: Make people able to play some good maps x amount of times, before they have to acquire the Ticket for the game in the shop.
Yes, you would have to buy the minigame if you like it. Just like cosmetics.
It would be better to be able to test a game, before having to buy it. For several reasons, map makers also have to balance, and would need beta phases with players.
So a free to play beta phase mode and then buy to play where the maker can still continously update the map would be ideal.

EDIT: Or different methods that benefit the creator. Like premium map, or full version of the game. Paid map option as obvious flaws with low player pools, so a different kind of system might be needed.
The question is, what kind?

there should be some better ways to profit the mapmakers, but buying the gamemode isnt the solution.

I would rather have he option to buy additional mod content that doesn’t affect the gameplay (aka hats) to support the mod developers (and Valve gets a share ofc) than make them P2P.

Mods for a F2P game will be F2P.

I just say keep them free totally, and enable the highest level of customization possible.

Dota 2 could make such a system that if that map becomes somewhat popular then the map maker gets payed a certain amount, each month based on how many people played his game. It’s only fair, if people come here to play his game and not dota 2 then valve and the map maker should split the profit. Not to underestimate valves role in it, they supply the resources to make a game and the playerbase and the servers.

Could be like this:
(“Profit that month” * (“if minimum 200h then timespent playing X map” / “all time spent playing that month”)) * “his share of that profit”

His share could be around 50%, i think that’s fair.

“But but in warcraft it was free..” and so were cosmetics in warcraft. People in the mapping community have worked thousands of thousands of hours on maps, without getting anything in return. This was promissed to end with Starcraft 2, where really good chosen maps would need to be paid for.
This never happened.

Why the hell does someone just spending a couple hundred hours on cosmetics get thousands of dollars, while someone spending thousands uppon thousands of hours on a custom game nothing? You’re spoiled, utterly spoiled from the wc3 days. Get a grip. Sure you want it free, sure i won’t lift a finger, and so wont many other good mappers.

Blizzard failed with sc2 and custom games, the Editor 10 times stronger than in wc3, yet the custom games are still bad. There are a lot of reasons for that, but this is one of them. Experienced good artists can now make money from cosmetics, if you want good experienced map makers, you should enable the same system for them.
I for one, won’t lift a finger again without such a system. I don’t have the free time anymore to work 1000 hours with no pay, the experienced are all older now and have to survive somehow.

But don’t fret, if you can survive on sc2 lvl casual custom maps, then some school boys will figure it out.

Btw Nadaga, the problem with your idea is that it doesn’t benefit valve. No extra cash is created, only moved from their cosmetics income. Giving mapmakers money only makes sense, if custom maps attract new players, or keep players that would otherwise leave AND then buy cosmetics. Just having people play alone generates zero profit.

Also Noya, additional content sound slike PAY2WIN. Be careful with that. Maybe though.
All I’m saying, if mapmakers don’t benefit in SOME way, only shit maps will arise.
