Borderless Window / Vsync
I have asus rog gl752vl laptop with i7 6700hq processor 16gb ram and 4gb gtx965m (2nd gen)
Whenever i try to play dota 2 in borderless window mode i have screen tearing and in game stuttering regardless of turning vsync on or off in game options.
I don’t have screen tearing in exclusive full screen mode though with vsync on but usually when i play in full screen mode game freezes here and there.
Why this might happen and which one is better to go ? – nod3d9ex borderless or – dx11 full screen ?
Thanks in advance for help and answers

You did not specify your OS. That’s relevant, as Windows 7 needs Aero on to have tearless borderless window working, and Windows 8/8.1/10 should not tear by default, but maybe your OS configuration is screwed or Nvidia general profile (must Use the 3d application settings for Vertical Sync).
Another thing – you need to run your internal / external display under native resolution and frequency. Probably best to run under single display configuration, and setting scaling to Display:
With that hardware, – dx11 is the way to go, but if you get freezes under exclusive fullscreen, maybe you should lower some settings. In any case, it’s not a game issue, borderless window = desktop vsync is broken for you on the OS / driver level.
Thank you very much for your time and answer.
I am on windows 10 creators update.
I will also try enabling vsync from nvidia control panel 3d application settings and see how it goes. Where can i set scaling to display ? Is it also in nvidia control panel ?
I’ve read your troubleshooting crashes guide and updated integrated intel graphic drivers. I did it manually because automatic update wouldnt work and it just gave error messsage “driveris not approved by manufacturer”
I didnt care the message and did the update manually with have disk option. I also disabled gaming mode in windows 10.
Havent tried it yet in borderless but for full screen result is so good so far.
I have console commands – nod3d9ex – dx11 – console – nogammaramp at the moment. Do I need all or just – dx11 is enough ?
After doing this everything is working butter smooth full screen everything maxed out. No freezes no crashes
About the monitor do you mean i should run it at 59hz if its native res is 60hz ?

There is literally a picture with nvidia scaling options on my previous post.
Try not to mess with res & hz manually, let os / driver autodetect it.-nod3d9ex should not be used together with exclusive fullscreen video mode.
I specifically advise against it in the guide, because crashes/not being able to return from alt-tab are very likely.
And for your hardware is not even needed, just stick with – dx11 ( – console – nogamaramp do not matter if present or not).
I think something wrong with the picture in your previous post as it can not be seen
