Connecting to the Dota 2 Network

Hi!
I was in a party and searching for a game, when i got a mini dc from the internet and after that I restarted the client and got the “Connecting to the Dota 2 Network” error. After many steam restarts and. blob file delete it worked again. Now I finished a game and wasnt able to click on the matchmaking button, so I restarted the client and got the “Connecting to the Dota 2 Network” screen again. Sometimes it connects but shows only the default 99w/99l/99a stats, like when there is no server.
Any idea how to fix it?

I’ve had a similar ish problem before try the following steps to log out of steam completely.

Go to the “store” then in top left choose change user

Close steam (if not already closed)

Log in (You should re entrering your user name and password etc. here otherwise you didn’t acutally log out.)

Try it again and see if it worked.

Post here if it did so other people with the same problem may find the solution.

I fixed it again with deleteng 2times the ClientRegistry. blob file: I got the “Connecting to the Dota 2 Network” error, first i deleted the. blob, then started steam and I got the 99w/99l/99a problem, then deleted the. blob again and its worked.
If I get the problem again I gonna try out your solution.

Has happened to me 3 times, each of those times I had skipped the valve intro; normally I don’t.

Seems totally unrelated, but its screwing it up for me.

I just ran into the “Connecting to the Dota 2 Network” issue. Some basics:

* System had been up for at least 24 hours.
* DOTA2 was played within that period, exited and then Steam ignored.

* loaded the game through my normal desktop shortcut
* skipped Valve scary guy with escape
* Normal menu system presented, then middle closed and displayed the message: “Connecting to the Dota 2 Network”
* Wait 2 minutes, restart DOTA2, same message.
* Restart Steam, boot DOTA2. Same message.
* Verify steam. exe/dota2.exe are closed in system processes, reboot, same message.

Rebooting my system. No issues since.

* Stuck process. Steam was not exiting it’s process after clicking exit. Had to go into task manager in order to kill it.
* Steam update (I think there was one today)

The problem for me ended up being which shortcut I used to start the game. When using the shortcut on my desktop, which Steam created for me, I have no problems. But, if I use the “pinned” Dota 2 icon on my taskbar (a Windows 7 feature), it doesn’t appear to boot the game correctly. I added the pinned shortcut while the game was running correctly by right clicking the application and pinning it, not by directly dragging the shortcut from the desktop. My guess is that Steam sets up shortcuts in a very specific way, linking directly to dota2.exe directly does not work.

Im having this same issue with the pinned button on Windows 7. Only by opening it from the Steam library it finally worked.

How to solve this:Close Steam. Enter steam folder(->hard disk) find “Client Registry. blob”.Delete that. Start steam, it will update(normal).
Enjoy infinite no annoying msg that 😛
A simple system reboot will allow the problem to persist on certain ocasions.

I’m having this problem and none of the fixes in this thread is helping me.

I tried finding the “Client Registry. blob” file, yet i couldnt find it anywhere.

Edit: I have now located the file, (Was searching in the acual dota2 folder not in the steam folder) yet the problem still persists.
