True.
I think Pudge should get stunned if hook misses.
True.
I think Pudge should get stunned if hook misses.
You mean he should be Doomed if it misses. Also he should be slowed by 140% after hooking, silenced during Dismember and Rot should have a activation coolwon of 15 seconds.
Pudge is only really dangerous early/mid game unless his opponents are extremely noobish. Coz by late game, most other heros have way better skills/abilities that become more powerful than the one-hit-wonder hook. So unless he’s constantly getting fed, pudge will become quite useless late game.
I cant agree with that, the hook taking somebody apart and the stun from dismembering are just as effective no matter what moment of the game.
Plus pudge will probably manage at least a couple of gank along the game and get himslef some nice items, gank or not.
Carry Shadow Blade and mash the button whenever you hear the screech of FRESH MEAT! Usually Pudges don’t carry gems or dust as most Pudge players think they’re god.
Any good team will immediately buy dust to counter shadow blade. Please don’t buy shadow blade on a hero that doesn’t need it.
Also, Pudge is one of the better picks to hold a gem, because he will have an ♥♥♥♥ton of strength, and thus a lot of health. So odds are, if you have any sort of invis and you ♥♥♥♥ off the enemy team with it, Pudge will be there with a gem, if that team is any good.
Also, Pudge is so far from OP that I’m a bit confused why this topic was made. He relies on a skillshot to do anything useful without weird, offpick items, and he really suffers late game, mostly being good for his disable and his pull.
Just because you get hooked for standing around does not make him OP. Also, tons of things go through BKB, Pudge is not unique in that aspect.
Isn’t hooking members who are out of position the main purpose of pudge ? If his hook has a drawback (stun etc) wouldn’t pudge be detrimental to the team ?
Pudge hooks are not easy to pull off when the opposing team knows what they are doing and he can be easily countered by wards and good positioning.
He’s not even close to being OP. Saying “as long as the player can hook decently” is a very big “if”. Even freaking Dendi missed over half his hooks in the famous fountain hooking match in TI3. Pudge is not easy to play, so – like all difficult to play heroes – he’s better as a result of that.
The one of the hardest heroes (if not the hardest) to play is Io, and as a result its power is so immense that just having it on the team can spell almost certain victory if it’s played by someone who knows what they’re doing (see the TI3 Grand Finals for the proof of this). Pudge is like a much less exaggerated version of this phenomenon.
It’s pure nonsense to say that a hero as difficult to use as he is shouldn’t be able to gank as well as he can.
I’ll look on the internet for good ways to counter him, because there probably are some, but guys, you are not really honest when you say he is not that good.
I’d like to believe you, but it gets quite annoying to get hooked and killed without being able to do anything whenever you get out of the creep group
Two words: map awareness.
But hey, don’t take our word for it. Take the words of the people who play Dota 2 for a living: go look up how often Pudge is picked in high level play. To my knowledge, only ONE person picked Pudge at TI3, and that was Dendi. Maybe Pudge was picked up in one or two other games by random teams, but he is rarely picked.
Pudge preys on mistakes: being out of position, not having proper map vision, standing still asking to be hooked, not having anyone who can shut down his ult once it starts, etc.
Pudge is not a godtier hero, like Lifestealer or Batrider. He is a hard to play, but useful, initiator with an okay disable (the fact it goes through BKB is perhaps its only REAL redeeming factor).
Can Pudge roll pub teams if he’s played by someone who knows what they’re doing? Yes. But so can every other hero. Why do you think there are so many DROW/SNIPER/RIKI/SPIRIT OPOPOPOP threads? Because pub scrubs can’t be bothered to learn how to counter anything. Same thing with Pudge: perhaps you aren’t a pub scrub, but your team has to work together to make sure Pudge can’t come top and make the spahganky, through map awareness, map vision, and proper positioning.
