It is farm priorities.

#1 is your carry, he gets all the resources he calls for
#2 is your midlaner, he takes everything carry does not take
#3 offlaer, he usually gets significantly less than #1 and #2 but he usually does not scale as much with gold as the frst 2 so it does not hurt him as much
#4 secondary support or a jungler, gets whatever small amout of farming space is left, usually gets big support items such as mek/guardian grieves/pipe etc.
#5 primary support, he buys all wards, courier, smokes, dusts. Gets majority of his gold from kills/assists/global objectives

#6 sometimes joke name for solo support, when he gets literally nothing while spending all of his gold for the greater good of his team.

First there are certain heros who are classified to what role they can and will fill. That said, it depends on your team picks. I guess any hero can play any role. There are 5 in a team. There should be 3 carries position 1, 2,3. and 2 supports position 5,6. Now depending on what people pick determines who is what position.

Lets talk about carries position 1,2 and 3. Now click on your hero tab. At the bottom of your screen you will see the different roles. First click on the Carry word which makes it light up. there are three tabs to the carry role. When all 3 tabs are lit up you will notice only a few heros available. Those heros are the hardes carries in the game and you have one of those in your team it would be position 1. The reason it is a hard carry is 1) It needs the most farm in the game to see its full potential. Now if you unclick one box so only 2 are showing those are second hardest carries. If you only have 1 box lit then you will see the third position carries included in carry. Those heros might also be listed as a support.

So for example Bara and PA are both carries. PA is a position 1 and Bara is a postion 3. PA will not come on line until late game and Bara is going to be strong in the beginning. Late game Bara is going to be helping his team while PA has the chance to shine. In my opinion Bara gets many kills early game but if he is skilled will allow PA the kill come mid so she can have the coins for the so needed gear.

The support role and button is the same. The harder the support the less gold you need to survive. T

In a team where all knew this its easy to determine who is position 1-5. Sadly people pick CM, one of the hardest supports in the game and think they can carry the game. In the long run and for the most part CM can not take the thrown without a carry to help. This is where CM is not doing her job and maybe getting tons of kills but not warding. This is a determent to the team. CM can kill PA easy early game but she is paper late game compared to any carry.

These are my nab thoughts on how it should work but in random pub match do not expect anyone to follow this.

Others have now answered since i wrote this but I will still post 🙂

So, I heard in an interview, a profi player talking about his role in his team, he was saying his role is support 3,or 4, i don’t remember it clearly.
Can u guys tell me more about these team roles? Their attrbutes and responsabilities.
Thanks!

When people refer to their “position/role” and a number, that number represents what their farm priority is. 1 is a higher priority to let farm than 2, 2 higher than 3, and so on.

Position 1: Always is a hard carry, such as Anti-Mage, Medusa, or Spectre. Pos 1s have amazing late-game carry potential, but tend to struggle early. They should never have to buy Wards, Courier, Flying, or Dust, but they can if necessary. Position 1 carries always go to the Safelane.

Position 2: Usually a strong mid-late carry, such as Windranger. While they may not be able to out-carry a Position 1 late-late into the game, their early and mid-games are generally stronger. Position 2s should almost never have to buy support gear, but they should help with Dust if invisibility is a problem.

Position 3: AKA, the semi-carry, Position 3s tend not to be able to carry very well late into the game, but aren’t usually as vulnerable during laning phase. Some can even be quite deadly in the early game, such as Abaddon. Position 3s should help out with Wards if the supports are gold-starved. Position 3s tend to build items that are medium in price, like Mekansm.

Position 4: Pos 4 is basically the secondary support. They generally don’t get much farm, but they tend to get a bit more than Pos 5s do. Position 4s should buy Wards regularly as well as Dust and Smokes. They should also help the Pos 5s with dewarding. Position 4s also tend to be the roaming support, assisting with ganks, kills, sieges, etc.

Position 5: The primary support. Pos 5s will have almost no last-hits, even in an extremely long game. As a result, they tend to have very little gold, but use what they can get to buy Wards, Dust, Gems, Sentries, Smokes, and low-cost items like Glimmer Cape and Tranquil Boots. Pos 5s tend to have terrible KDRs, but they will almost always have a ton of assists.
