Liquid has released a statement that this is a private matter for Miracle and they do not want to discuss it further right now.

The rumour that it is visa related appears to be false.

Team Liquid has provided us with a comment on the situation saying “Miracle has a private, personal matter to take care of. He is a very private person so we’re not revealing what it is right now.”

Reports have come in that Team Liquid will have to play The Chongqing Major without their starplayer Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi. Information is scarce at the moment but this seems to be a last minute change as no information regarding this has been released by StarLadder, Valve, or Team Liquid themselves before today. At this point in time the closest to a full confirmation we have comes from Chinese carry player Chu “shadow” Zeyu, most known for winning TI6 with Wings Gaming, who edited his Doyu stream title to “I’ll be back after playing for Liquid in the Major”. Russian caster V1lat also tweeted out that Miracle – did not arrive in China with his team.

I am confused, you created a topic with the title “Miracle – to miss the Chongqing Major” and now you are saying it might not be true?

I usually assume that threads that are on the Community News section of the frontpage of Liquiddota are confirmed, especially if its a topic about a Liquid player/team.

I would be very happy to be wrong though.

He said that the connection between “major in China” and “Miracle missing” is pure speculation.
You were talking about miracle getting randomly banned, which is just entirely unfounded.

Team Liquid have announced that Matumbaman will be leaving the team only a few weeks before Epicenter and that they are looking for someone to replace him for TI9. Matumbaman has been on Team Liquid’s roster since late 2015 and his departure from Team Liquid marks the end of an era. Not enough to matter.

As for the move, this is a real surprise, yet at the same time I can see why it would happen. Still, finding another core to work with Miracle is going to be an issue and unless they’re going the pubstar route, it’s going to be rough sledding.

On the other hand I don’t know where Matu is going to go either. It seems from the twitter he wants to keep playing, idk if any relevant DPC teams are going to take him.

For Liquid, as sad as it is, a roster change felt inevitable, after such a long time. Tells you all you need to know about the character of all of them that they stayed together that long.

Maybe they should move Miracle – permanently to safelane and look for a mid?

Would have not thought that he is being replaced but more due to that his mandatory military service is still not finished. I feared this day and now it happened. so. who will be replacing him? I don’t see a better self-sacrificial pos 1/2 atm. And a conventional 1/2 would require MC or Miracle to make much more space (likely MC). Also it’s not like Matu hasn’t won lanes vs Sumail/Noone/MidOne/Maybe, he just on average gets sacced more.

The only player that plays a similar style at a similar level would be Fata, but I assume he’d want to go to TI with the team he played with all season long? Also imo Matu has the better hero-pool for how they play and isn’t inferior mechanics wise.

Probably Kuro found a pub player that he thinks will fit their style.
