How does DOTA 2 graphics compare to other games?

Other modern games do you think this game is up to par in being suitable enough for the coming years?

How would you rate the graphics compared to Star Craft 2 and Dawn of War 2 etc?

Neither of those games are really graphically impressive.

Besides that I don’t feel that graphics quality in terms of realism has ever been very important. What’s important is that the game makes and keeps its own style, that defines the game and makes it much more memorable than just trying to be realistic. Because that’s the flaw of realistic looking games, they just try. They cannot succeed, it’s impossible until we get quantum computers or some similar wizardry.

Out of the two you listed, LoL, and HoN, I’d say Dota 2 wins in both graphics and design.

I think it’s wonderful that Valve is smart with their game’s ‘graphics’, I love how Dota is actually a little stylized. Take a look at Team Fortress 2 for example, how old is that game? 5 years old and it still looks really good. Same with Dota 2, it might not complete with the graphics in the year 2016 or so but because it’s not realistic but stylized then it would be able to hold it’s own.

Starcraft 2 is also stylized from what I remember though at a much smaller scale and they actually pull it off pretty good. I would say that Dota 2 is comparable to SC2 technically but aesthetically it’s up to the have their own opinion, to me I like them both equally. Can’t say that much for DoW2 since I haven’t seen very much of that game.

Yeah while DOTA 2 isn’t on crysis level. I would say its incredibly beautiful looking. And look at team fortress 2, somehow its the most pleasing to look at, its artwork is simply amazing.

What I always hated about LoL was its kiddy graphics. Its far far far to childish and boring. DOTA 2 I think looks really detailed and nice. I also like the look of Star Craft 2 it looks far better than SC1 and Warcraft 3

I like Dota 2 graphics and design very much, looks neat and clean but still rich. Also good feel for (natural) colors.

With more photorealistic textures it can be better, but it is fine right now.

What I think it can use is animated trees. Like how S2 upgraded HON with moving trees and tree branches.

And also weather effects. HON can enable weather effects like snow storm or rain etc
