Dota 2 Adds New Outpost Building And Introduces Neutral Items
New building and new game mechanic. Valve
Dota 2 has dropped its latest update, which introduces two new heroes to the game. There are also large amounts of changes arriving to both heroes and items. However, the highlight of the update involves two interesting new additions to the game with update 7.23: Outpost and Neutral Items.
Outpost
Let’s start with Outpost. This is a new neutral building type and players should see two of them. They are located where the Side Shops previously were. What players need to do is right click to channel and after six seconds gain control of the Outpost. The more allies channeling, the faster the Outpost is converted. So, what do you get if you convert the Outpost? You get:
- XP bonus of 25*Min XP to each player on:
- initially capturing the Outpost
- 5-minutes intervals on the game clock
- XP bonus is only gained once per period regardless if you have one or two controlled
- 500 AoE truesight
- Ability to TP to it.
- It takes 6 seconds to teleport to it.
- Shares the delayed TP duration mechanic with T1 towers.
Outposts are inactive for the first 10 minutes of the game and cannot be captured until they are made active.
Neutral Items
Another exciting change is the introduction of the Neutral Items. These are unique items that are dropped by neutrals and cannot be sold, though they can be shared with allies. There are a total of 62 unique items divided into five tiers. Within each tier, the odds get cut by half for each subsequent drop. Items of a specific type only drop once for each team. Drops only begin after five minutes. In addition, probably to address the new items, the backpack slots have been increased to four.
These are the neutral drop mechanics:
- 5-15 Minutes
- Tier 1: 10% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
- 15-25 Minutes
- Tier 2: 10% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
- 25-35 Minutes
- Tier 3: 10% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
- 35-45 Minutes
- Tier 3: 5% Chance
- Tier 4: 5% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
- 45-70 Minutes
- Tier 4: 10% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
- 70+ Minutes
- Tier 5: 10% Chance
- Other Tiers: 0% Chance
As mentioned, the odds are cut by half with each subsequent drop. This means that if the first drop is 10%, then within that tier the second drop is now 5%.
